    Let the cutting edge hang long about an inch or so off both sides of the bucket, then weld your reinforcing corners to take it down to a half inch overhang on either side, bolt on a whole new edge below that for easy changes in the future

    Doing this exact job on my skid steer today, thanks for sharing how you did it. I also picked up a cutting edge from titan as well. Seriously laughed when you took a sledge to it!

    Try a gouging tip on your torch to wash those old welds off. Just keep it quite a ways off of base metal ince you hit the jet, and you wont damage the bucket!

    Use dual shield fluxcore next it's a lot more ductile than hardwire also gets deeper penetration great repair though

    Good enough ;) My cutting edge on my little kubota is bent and worn (to many trips into the curb)..... Im just going to replace it before the snow starts flying. The bucket is only 47" wide and I had to order a 60" cutting edge. I will just have to cut it to size with my acetylene torch. Looking at the ammount of grinding you had to do, I better stock up on cutting and grinding disks.
    Im also thinking of arc welding it on with 6011 rod........ 1/2" steel is a bit much for my mig... not sure what mig your using.

      Use 6013 to tack in place and 7018 to through weld everything. Make sure you preheat the blade and bucket some to prevent cracking. And stagger the welds on the blade to prevent warping

    How is it holding up? thinking about getting one from Titan

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  3 роки тому

      Sorry for the late response. It's a good cutting edge. Holding up well. If I did it again, I'd probably just weld the new one on the bottom of the old one.

    Thanks for the video. Why wire welding, as opposed to stick welding?

    • @MasterJacks
      @MasterJacks  3 роки тому +1

      It's just what I had at the shop. Stick would work great.

      As long as the surface was clean and his Mig welder had sufficient power, Mig works just fine.

    Where is guard for grinder

  • @williamthomas9463

    The fact that you were able to weld the cutting edge on using short-circuit hard-wire mig without pre-heat and it didn’t crack after welding tells me that the cutting edge is junk! A quality cutting edge would have broken at the toes of the weld on the cutting edge within 10 minutes of welding.

    You guys aren't planning ahead. ALL cutting edges wear out, so you 1st install a new cutting edge on your new bucket leaving the original in place so that you never wear the original. You get longer life, greater strength, better wear resistance. Watch here: ua-cam.com/video/j1P1-B6wWAc/v-deo.html
