What are you talking about " Not the Best"? You are a Master. Due to your inspiration I will peruse this activity to go with my new welding and fabricating business. Thank you so much for your dedication and time.
You, Sir, are the Edward Scissorhands of heavy equipment repair. I always look forward to your video releases. So much to learn from a true professional.
I was fortunate to work in the world's deepest copper mine "Deep Ore" OKIEP Copper Mines at the time during 1987 as an apprentice Diesel Mechanic. We mainly did maintenance on several underground mechanical "equipment" (as we called these machines) such as the Wagner StB range scoop-trams. It was so amazing to assist and watch the welders and boilermakers fixing scoop bucket lips (V-shaped) and worn bushes and collars on swivel parts of the scoops. I remember you used an angle iron to put in place bushes for bucket pins which you tack-weld onto the angle iron. Our boilermakers used hollow pipes (about 100 inner diameter / 4") to sleeve the bushes left or right into place. After the bushes was weld nicely into place on each bush was a brass collar sleeve pressed from each side of the bush into place. (Two halves on each bush with a 1x cm distance between each collar in centre of bush making room for the grease). Best part was all these pins, bushes and brass sleeves were manufactured at surface in a massive production Machine-shop of the mine. Unfortunately the entire Copper Mine became redundant by early 2000's. Well I so enjoy watching your work and it's amazing to see the knowledge you have on the different metals you use for different applications. Keep up doing these great videos. 🇿🇦🇿🇦
Thank you. Ill try and post more but boy its challenging to film and edit these crazy things. Ill get better with time and itll probably get much easier too.
Unfreakinbelievable.. Did you see how straight his hand and arm move with the torch or plasma cutter in his hand.. I never even knew you could get a cut that clean with a torch.. Then in one vid he looks at the cut and says now it's time to grind it smoother, then he moves the camera he was looking through and says,, nahhhh, no need,, it's plenty smooth and clean.. Absolutely beautiful work.. Where are you, I need a bumper fabricated for my truck,, lol..
Best welding video in a long while-I grew up with a true millwright for a Father and watching your work reminds me of him-your skill shows Sir-zero wasted labor and everything you do has a well thought out purpose. Your viewers probably dont realize how hard that work is because you make it look so easy. Made me smile watching you-thank you.
I thought the same thing a few times while watching the cat 325 excavator boom repairs, and now this vid too. Just that certain understated knack that comes with long experience, it kind of shows itself in big things and small things, not in a showy way, but it does show. Thanks for sharing, made me smile as well -and probably make my dad smile too if he saw it :-)
I'm fired up now. Tomorrow I'll get out my Burnsomatic propane torch, Harbor Freight $80 flux core welder and HF four inch grinder and ruin something in my garage. Great videos,.
Im retired and took welding as a hobby, with videos like these, even that I will never repair one of these buckets, I'm learning a lot. Stuff I' learning here, I can apply it to some of my projects. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Greetings from northen Sweden. That timelaps of you leaning over while checking the wearher sure made me giggle. I have to agree with my father when he said that "no matter what someone does, it's always impressive to watch them do it." You are one of those who are good at what you do. Stay safe and take care.
IC, One thing I learned that a lot of people would say, of course!! Hold your breath for as long as you can while burning. That way your breathing will not mess up your cutting. The same thing as hunting, hold your breath before you pull the trigger.
I love your job, you are a role model for welders who want to do their job well!💪👍😎 When we repair a shovel, we cut the top of the side cutter, parallel to the bottom of the shovel. In that way it is quick and easy for the operator to see if the shovel is leveling😉Greetings from Denmark
I truly enjoy these videos, because they allow me to sort of be a fly on the wall. Watching tricks of the trade. My friend and her husband recently purchased buckets for their tractor and bobcat. The tractor's bucket is well used and patched, but defiantly needing repair. The bobcat's is still in good shape. I'm trying to educate myself so I can explain to them why the should hardface and how to go about repairing. These videos really do help. Hope you and your family are staying warm in this storm!
Impressive..18:24 end plate's on b4 gas cut to shape..jess like 'shell' plating -ship repair, o/s of..tack weld to 'stringers' n steel frames, i/s den cut to shape as per...like the 'look-away' buzz when gas cutting nice, bit o' humour.. very nice to watch.. er..on video dat is.. awesome mahi e hoa n video..well done 🌞✌️🤙👍🦾 Kia ora..thnx 😜👍
I really like the way you talk through your thought process regarding the way you intend to approach the repairs in your video. That is interesting and helpful. Thanks for the videos, keep them going.
Your cutting is slick!! Iam a fabricator and welder in a shop that's builds all manor of this equipment..we build alot of buckets like this one your on.. and I've still gotta say your cut work is the best I've ever seen. I pick up little tricks everytime I see your videos.
I learn a lot watching and figuring out how you plan the job... What's first, or third step and why you plan it like that... A puzzle fitting into place... Love watching you work and learning from it.....
IC, I could watch all your videos in silence and watch every second. I really appreciate your dedication and passion. I hope you're making money off of UA-cam you absolutely deserve it. Keep up the GREAT work and stay safe

@@ICWeld Great work! What is that torch guide you are using? I can’t find anything like it!
Great illustration that welding is 90% fabrication, fit up, setup and experience and about 10% actual welding! Great work!
For me, a lot of welding is grinding 😂
Yes, but there is something about the personality of IC. It’s something I often see in craftsmen of his level.
