This will never be as odd as that time UA-cam mixed up Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl with each other. • The Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topic became Pokémon: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. • Any Mario Kart 8 or Mario Kart 8 Deluxe videos that the creator hadn't set the featured game for were automatically marked as Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This was all on the exact same day. I think it was fixed since, but I'm still puzzled how this mixup occurred in the first place. I also find it weird how DLC bundles sometimes get their own topic pages. Examples of this are Sonic Mania Plus, Sonic Origins Plus and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe + Booster Course Pass.
@@Arthemisishere It's not very different. As I said, it's DLC for Sonic Mania. Physical copies exist for the bundle, containing the DLC on the cartridge/disk, unlike the base game, which is why it is more common. When I insert a 'Sonic Mania Plus' cartridge into my Nintendo Switch, it still shows up as Sonic Mania.
i love how a lot of this is just clearly the developers messing around and having fun, like all the rotating cubes and the level with silly stone eye placements and the level with the koopas appearing and disappearing in time with the music
It’s intriguing to see so many neat level ideas/concepts/visuals that were scrapped for the sake of the game’s simplicity. With Super Mario Bros Wonder raising the bar for 2D Mario levels, it gives me faith that such ideas will be implemented more often and given the chance to realize their full potential.
I really didn't like Wonder. Didn't think it brought anything fun to the table other than some gimmicks here and there. The NSMB formula was full of potential and every one of those games were a joy to play. Personally. Wonder scrapped so many amazing powerups and locations. If it instead added to the amazing groundwork NSMB had, I think it would have been better.
@@bandannadoo the beauty of the NSMB series was each game built on the previous one. It was beautiful. @@thelookingcat I don’t see much beauty in reusing an engine, visual aesthetic, music tracks and level design formula for 10 or so years, but that’s just me. I like the wonder power ups because they make you work to use them successfully - learning how to effectively bounce on the bubble flower is infinitely more interesting then just pressing a button to immediately gain free height with the propellor for example. I also like the level design more because it gives you a lot more to work with in just letting you mess around - there’s so many trick jumps that I’ve attempted in wonder just for the sake of trying but that feeling doesn’t exist as much in the News. It just feels like wonder is building off of the original 2D Marios perfectly, especially with all the badges that reflect the unique moves from previous games like Luigi’s fluttery jump from Lost Levels and P-speed from Mario 3, in that sense you can really play how you want. I want to return to an era like the original 2D Mario’s where every game is different and adds radically new things, those games built on each other way better than the News ever did. @bunshine wasn't kidding about the cozy vibes of these videos. I love binge watching these, and you guys are quite giggly. Also, I'm scared of cheep chomps, they're my worst nightmare.
agreed on both the things you said. I was literally so scared of them for years, like I think I might've even had nightmares about them. The original time I saw them was in that little subsection in NSMBW which has the ? block with the star (I think it's in world 1? no idea) and the fact they could one-shot you even with power-ups genuinely scared me for some reason
@@tzarg i never had nightmares of them, but they are just terrifying. and that level you're talking about is actually world 4-4, and one also appears in world 9-2 where the second star coin is, which i somehow managed to get, and a fire flower and the TV on mute. i took a deep breath after entering the pipe, i paused the level to mute the tv, i killed the cheep chomp collected the star coin and the other 2 as well, and was on my merry way completing the level first try.

26:17 that star coin is in a different place and also that area specifically looks just generally different to the original, but other than that it seems exactly the same
Some of these look to me like they were meant to test weird edge cases with the way various objects interact or move around. The big room with a box sending stuff up and down at weird speeds, and the really long falling section after with a bunch of random stuff like pipes that would've been static in most previous Mario games, for example
Would have loved to see the pipes being able to be carried by water. Would have made an interesting level in they gave it a little more polish. Kind of get why they didn’t use it, but it would have been pretty cool
not necessarily, how do you think ideas are tested out to see if they would be interesting or fun? they can be both or either for testing behaviors and ideas.
UA-cam recognises the game as NSMBU Deluxe but uses the Super Mario Party boxart 🤣
Both games are so generic, that UA-cam can't differenciate them from each other.
