Been watching through all your videos recently and really enjoying them! Super unique idea and your energy is real good. Got the mpc one myself and just saw these tip videos too. Want to thank you for all the time you put into making these. May you flourish and continue to grow on here =]
Dang....I watched this video and thought I was disappointed...until I was chopping tonight and couldn’t get my piece right and decided to try it your way and holy crap was that awesome
Yup reminds me of Large Professor.🎤🔥 This micro-chop technique is an more advance concept of what Pete Rock did on that classic MPC 2000xl video where he chopped up that Pat Benatar song "Love Is A Battlefield", which really helped take my music to a higher level.
Thats how i've always chopped all my samples. I also add in a lil space in the tail end which the mpc one now has built in so it makes it even easier. I come up with much more creative chops than if i did it the conventinal way. I gotta be honest, i get triggered when i see dudes talkin bout they filled a sample then in the video they are just hitting the pads in order, on the 1, the snare, the three then the snare again..... lol, its fine doin that but its limiting. Chop your jazz or what ever samples like this, you can freak it in ways you didnt realize, also by adding that aspace in the tail end it allows you to slow or speed up the tempo without messing it up. Some people say dont add too much time to the tail end or it ruins it, but i say fuk that sometimes i add 900ms to the end, and sometimes it sounds crazy dope.
Serato has the illest algorithm in the game. Akai has a lot to learn. Even their MPC software algorithm is trash. Compared to Serato. The limitation w/ Serato Sample (or Studio) is the low slice-per-sample limits. 16 for sample, 8 for studio.
@@DyReckProductions Great tool for chopping. Pretty amazing how it is able to pick the best parts to chop. And you can always edit them to your preference as well.
Hey found your page by accident, and I got to tell you it’s fire! Bruh, this is dope asf! Pretty sure someone mentioned this already, but im going to try this, chop the vocals, slow down the tempo when I record the pads and then play it back real time. I definitely hit that subscription button. Thank you for the knowledge ✊🏾 Btw, you got to do a piece on the on that Fairlight Sampler!!
Temporarily change the tempo of the project to like one quarter or one half of what it is normal he won't have to go as fast and then speed it back up. I haven't tried it but I'm pretty sure you could also save the track as a midi project once you got it perfect and then just use that anytime you wanted so you didn't have to hit the pads at all Cool video man I like your energy
Isn’t that just what choosing “patched phrase” is, when you convert the chops to a program? It populates your chops evenly into the open track, when you convert to program. I’ll have to check.
Hy DyReck, thanks for the video! I've got a question for you. I'm looking to buy the MPC ONE or MPC LIVE II. I primarily would use it for recording vocals, guitar just to build track ideas. Which would you suggest is best for me and why? Thank you.
Well if you dont mind spending the extra 600 dollars the Live 2 has built in speakers so its nice to just create a beat or something and just jam out on you guitar without having to hook up any cords or put on headphones..And it has a battery so you could just take it anywhere and jam out. Its a bit heavy though. But its pretty much the same software as the MPC One which is 600 dollars less..and the One has more buttons on the face of the unit for navigating..on the Live you might have to menu dive a lil..just a lil bit though.
So it's like warping/granular sampling ala Recycle? It hasn't regular stretching? I miss the Variphrase every time see someone needing workaround for these things...
I feel u..It has regular stretching and even a realtime warping..just showing a old school trick way of doing it..plus the warping uses alot of power from the MPC.
It's sad that Akai's TS algorithm is worse than Beatmaker 3...an iOS app that's less than $30. 🤦🏾♂️ They should be ashamed you have to do all these workarounds because TSing in Akai's software is so bad.
Well you can actually just time stretch on the machine. But your right alot of folks were saying the Beatmaker 3 software is in some ways better than Akai's software lol.
Just showing the ol school sample trick..Played my mans song at the end..Its all good..Im still feeling your Grandpa Lil vid though..Dig the Arabian sounds.

The song at the end of this video kicks ass. I've listened to it like 5 times in a row. Is it on that other dudes UA-cam? I checked the link.
He didn't put it up on his UA-cam..I should tell him to though lol..Matter of fact I will.

Where did you get those knobs from? Look amazing
There's a gold version of the MPC One that's sold that comes standard with the gold knobs.
Yup.
How about that 2.10 Update?
Wouldnt the "patched phrase" function be easier and do the same thing?
Then you dont have to record each note. Just hit 1 pad and it sequences the chops for you..
