@TeslaBarbarian I am generally against EVs but your videos have started to sway me a bit. A few concerns that I still have. 1) what are the insurance rates vs normal ICE vehicles? 2) There are a lot fewer parts, but I have heard that if you have a problem with the battery you are screwed. 3) I have heard horror stories of people fixing their cars and Tesla disabling supercharging, etc. Can you speak to these concerns?

Well, the beginning of 2023 I was first looking at Chevy Bolt EV and did a test drive in one. Only thing was there were none to be had at that time. I got tired of waiting over the winter time 2023 for one, so I started looking at Tesla vehicles. August 2023 did a test drive in the Model Y and decided right after test drive to order the Model Y LR AWD. The things that made me go with Tesla were: 1. The purchasing process was easy - direct online buy- No greedy dealerships. last the 7,500 tax credit offered on my car. 2. Storage space - plenty in a Model Y for me - also wanted the hatchback style. 3. Like others, the Acceleration is awesome. 4. My vehicle just came out with HW4 and the Newer Cameras. 4a. My vehicle still has the Stalks for gear shifting and turn signals, etc . 5. I like the minimal controls - Either done on Display or I use voice command. 6. I love the large Navigation display system. Voice tells me where to go. 7. Security provided. Start car Passcode Protection. Many other great features. 7a. Capturing Cameras all around the car for security, parked or for driving. At the time I purchased the vehicle, the Silver Grey color was available for free, so I got that color and Black Interior. Warning, don't do what I did second month after driving the car. When backing out of my garage, did not realize how far the side mirrors stick out and cracked the plastic housing of passenger side mirror. So learned my lesson very quickly and now I say "fold mirrors" when going into my garage. Lastly, I tried the FSD for 30 days, it is nice, but for my short daily driving around town, I felt I did not need this feature and extra costs. I have had the Tesla Model Y now for 1 year and really enjoy it. Note: I do have a 22 year old Monte Carlo for doing some dirty jobs. It still runs well and now has some rust on it. Although I do find it admirable that he is able to change his mind about his preconceived notions, I still do find it odd that many of the things that he was wrong about are easily searchable. In seconds, he could’ve found out you can charge an electric car with a standard 110 plug. Why not do that?

If I was the home owner and had my own charger then definitely viable, but if I lived in a condo or apartment and had to go charge and wait all that time I don't care how much I have to pay for gas my time is much more valuable than sitting for a while at a charging station

THe number of cars charging at the station will have a negative effect on charging speed. It looks like you're the only one at that location.

Fuel vehicle enthusiasts talks about Tesla like freakin' Pinto was never on the market LMAO. I am not an EV fan boy, matter of fact, I used to be an "import fanatic" now I have two Fords! a 6.0 Powerstroke which is an infamous evil designed engine but it serves me well and a 2012 F150 5.0 Coyote engine that have been as reliable as old 2005 Camry. Someone once said, "If you never want to own a Tesla, never ever test drive one". I've been meaning to get a Tesla since 2015 but I can't seem to find trust into a car maker that is less than 5 years old at that time. Then the price point was my second excuse. Fast forward to 2024 with its remarkable warranty, performance, price point and 3rd party shops popping everywhere, I really don't have any other excuse and been meaning to buy one in the past couple of months. I'm just waiting for the right price and car to get me one (model Y) of these magnificent machine!!! Awesome video gents!!!

Where I live (central Washington state) I pay only 2.3 cents per kWh for electricity. I bought a used EV (not a Tesla) for $21,000 and do all my charging at home. Driving it 1,000 miles per month adds only $8 to my electric bill. Only maintenance cost so far has been $4 for a gallon of windshield washer fluid. I will put 12,000 miles on it in 2024 for less than $100 in “fuel” and maintenance costs.

Be a lot quicker without that 1,000 lbs of meat bags.

i have driven many teslas, and i loved them until i got a 2024 model 3 long range for myself. worst interior of any car ive ever owned, everything you look at is so incredibly cheap my mum's 2012 base model camry is better. no im not hating the minimalist design, im hating the specific materials and quality of those materials. a tesla interior even when brand new looks and feels like the knock off playstation controller everyone had for player 2 in the late 2000's/early 2010's i took it to 3 dealers who all said it is way better than pre highland model 3's, and considering it costs over 60k for the cheapest model 3 in australia this is unnacceptable and FYI: some of the "cool features" (eg easy entry mode) have been on other cars for decades also a 20 year old lexus LS is quieter and smoother than a brand new model 3, the 4 year old ES300h i traded my model 3 in for is significantly smoother and quieter, especially on the highway (due to toyota's incredible 4th gen hybrid, and lexus' incredible insulation.) and oh yeah, the first model 3 in australia was 2019, and by that time even lexus who are significantly behind in tech had all the same features as basic autopilot bar full speed ACC (2020 added this feature). my ES is a 2020

I test drove a new model Y last week. I found the seats very uncomfortable at that price point, as well as a lot of road noise which was also disappointing. After checking my insurance for the car, I was told it would be $225 a month. I am currently paying 106. So, other than the burst of speed comparing it to Toyota Corolla or Camry or even some Honda’s which are 15k less, even less if you buy a used one. If we are just buying a car to compute around town, the Testa is more like having a novelty toy. I mean, how many times can you do? The burst of speed ? Plus, if you’re going out of town, you don’t have that anxiety with the gas vehicle that gets 36 to 40 miles per gallon. Plus let’s not forget the situation in Chicago when it was really cold and all those tesla were lined up because the chargers were frozen. 😳🤔So if we’re commuting around town getting a used one might make sense.

I think until you've driven one a while, in real day to day, you just don't get how amazing that much torque-on-a-switch can be. Another observation...this guy looks like he may be a Trump voter. Assuming this is correct, he's just helped the American govt effectively ban awesome cars like this from their roads. Man that must suck!! 😅😅

EV's aren't good for the environment. You DO KNOW there is NOT ENOUGH lithium in the world to provide enough electric cars for JUST AMERICA let alone the rest of the world. Not to mention the child labor and horrible conditions the stuff is mined in. And on top of that the disposal of the batteries is absolutely bad for the environment. This world will be in MUCH WORSE shape if everyone had EV's.

It's not the Tesla that people hate it's the drivers. They literally have their own category of jokes against them like BMW drivers. Tesla drivers down right overall CAN NOT DRIVE and/or think they are better than everyone just like BMW drivers. I personally love Elon and love Teslas even though I can't afford to own one. But 100% when people see them on the street they have in the back of their mind "oh great better watch for no blinkers or cutting me off".

If you are aware that subway train motors are electric and they can haul a crazy amount of people in an instant, then you should not be surprised by a mere electric car's performance carrying only 1 or 2 passengers.

I’ve had two different friends with American made ICE cars that spontaneously ignited. One of them burnt the house down. I don’t know of anyone with a Tesla that has caught fire.

Nice attempt to present Tesla’s! Many of the features are accurate, but you failed to mention the severe parts shortage that means people often have to wait months for replacement parts which denies them the use of their car for long periods. Also, replacement parts are very expensive and insurance companies are totaling many Teslas with moderate damage after accidents, due to the expense of the replacement parts and repairs! All drivers are paying for these conditions through higher insurance premiums on their non-Tesla cars! Then there are the long wait times frequently experienced at Tesla charge stations. I am a believer in the concept, but let’s make our presentation of Teslas accurate and well balanced!
