5 years ago I developed a nearly uniformly lethal cardiac arrhythmia. I nearly died, spent 3 weeks in the ICU, a week in a coma. I got an intracardiac defibulator, an ICD. Now if my ICD goes off and i'm driving an ICE car, I'm dead. I'll leave the highway at 70, hit the tree at 70. But a Tesla has autopilot and regen braking. If this bitch in my chest goes off, and I'm driving my Model S, I should be fine. And since I have FSD, i can literally tell her to drive me to the ER. So after a long summer in the hospital, my wife said "you should really own a Tesla". I do love that woman.

I think most people who are not familiar with EV's are being surprised by the transition, had people even to refer to it as a passing fad, Recently I've heard so many stories of buyers but this shows how much they can vary. When I picked my Model Y a girl getting her car next to me knew Nothing about the company or the car - must have been on a recommendation and just wanted it. In 2017 I had saved for a Tesla but also went with the investing in the company route in 2017 - so that worked for my current long range model Y, I do have to thank my Nissan Leaf I got used in 2012 it was already clear then I would never drive an ICE car again.

    • @pHD77
      @pHD77 2 роки тому +2

@@tp1924 Currently, that experience really depends on what brand of car you go with.
If you are doing all of your charging at home, then the brand of car really does not matter. But once you go on those long trips, that will require at least one charging stop, the story is a bit different.
If you own an EV that isn't a Tesla, you are reliant on chargers from various providers. And more often than not you'll come across stops, where the chargers might be down or very few are working, thereby creating a long line of people waiting to top up.
Tesla owners on the other hand seldom experience problems at the Tesla Superchargers.
So there's still a way to go before you can get people to have the same level of trust in EVs, that they have in ICE cars and do not have to worry about whether the infrastructure is fully in place for EVs.

      @andrewskaterrr 2 роки тому +1

Life Lesson: Don't buy an expensive car until you can ACTUALLY afford to. That's typically once you're older. Buy a cheap used car that will allow you to save money, and spend it on things that are more important than having a nice car. It doesn't matter how cool your car is if you're too broke to do anything else in life. At 32 I just bought my first car over $17k, a $62k ($68k after taxes etc) 2022 Model 3 Performance. I now make over $100k though, and own a house. My 66 month payments are $995, and that's with paying down to $60,570. That's the same as my house payment. So while it's good to dream, don't rush it too early and ruin your financial future. Be patient and you'll get one eventually.

Discovering your channel ... Great video, interesting angle. Thanks. What strikes me through these interviews is that nobody seems to really buy a Tesla for ecological reason. It sorts of comes as a cherry on top of the cake. We buy Teslas because they are a great piece of technology, they are fun to drive, they look good, cause we love the OTA feature etc etc, or for all these reasons, as it was in our case.
And that's precisely why I am confident this company has a bright future. It puts us on a rather virtuous path, selling a fun package rather than a sanctimonious "Eco-culpabilisation"
I didn't want a Tesla, my wife tricked me into it by road testing a M3P. The acceleration got me! Today our MYP is always in sport mode (doesn't appear to impact the average consumption - we do 180 Wh/Km), even though we only use the power occasionally, to stay as little as possible on the left lane when passing cars on our narrow European roads! And since, we have also enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere inside a Tesla, triggering a more relaxed driving style (especially relevant for me!) and simply: a better mobility.
I can as well say I would never go back to buying an ICE car.

Well, the beginning of 2023 I was first looking at Chevy Bolt EV and did a test drive in one. Only thing was there were none to be had at that time. I got tired of waiting over the winter time 2023 for one, so I started looking at Tesla vehicles. August 2023 did a test drive in the Model Y and decided right after test drive to order the Model Y LR AWD. The things that made me go with Tesla were:
    1. The purchasing process was easy - direct online buy- No greedy dealerships.
last the 7,500 tax credit offered on my car.
    2. Storage space - plenty in a Model Y for me - also wanted the hatchback style.
    3. Like others, the Acceleration is awesome.
    4. My vehicle just came out with HW4 and the Newer Cameras.
4a. My vehicle still has the Stalks for gear shifting and turn signals, etc .
    5. I like the minimal controls - Either done on Display or I use voice command.
    6. I love the large Navigation display system. Voice tells me where to go.
    7. Security provided. Start car Passcode Protection. Many other great features.
7a. Capturing Cameras all around the car for security, parked or for driving.
At the time I purchased the vehicle, the Silver Grey color was available for free, so I got that color and Black Interior. Warning, don't do what I did second month after driving the car. When backing out of my garage, did not realize how far the side mirrors stick out and cracked the plastic housing of passenger side mirror. So learned my lesson very quickly and now I say "fold mirrors" when going into my garage. Lastly, I tried the FSD for 30 days, it is nice, but for my short daily driving around town, I felt I did not need this feature and extra costs.
I have had the Tesla Model Y now for 1 year and really enjoy it. Note: I do have a 22 year old Monte Carlo for doing some dirty jobs. It still runs well and now has some rust on it.
Thanks for your video. Take care.

In my line of work I travel long distances most days (300-500 miles in a day is not unusual) and sometimes travel more than 1/2 way across the country. With all of my tools and supplies my minivan is usually carrying well over 2,500 pounds of cargo with ladders or conduit on the ladder rack. A Battery EV (BEV) wouldn’t have the necessary range and having to stop to recharge every 200 miles or less would simply take too long.
Now I’d love to have a van or pickup with an all electric drivetrain but depending on a battery alone for the power source is not practical or realistic because time is money especially when a customer’s equipment is down.
For me an all electric drivetrain with a modest battery pack and an onboard Microturbine Generator (MTG) with the capacity to power the vehicle while simultaneously recharging the batteries is the answer. The same goes for my personal truck, hauling farm equipment, feed, hay etc… would deplete even the largest Tesla battery pack long before my day would be done and the Tesla Cybertruck would have been a joke pulling a 30’ Gooseneck Flatbed loaded with 17 4’X5’ Round Bales (close to 25,000 lbs for the trailer and hay alone).

So remember it's not too late to invest in the company, and as the maker of this video said, this company is special, and I am impressed by their commitment to a larger mission than just selling cars and making money, but to produce Products that not only people wanna buy, but that has a useful purpose, and so I believe that the Price of the stock is not always reflected in the value of the company.
So Warren Buffett said something that really stuck with me. He said, “never invest in anything you don't understand” and I've added something to that statement, and that is, do not invest in anything you don't believe in.
So if you invest from the heart, I believe you won't go wrong, because when it’s all said and done to me it should be about a larger mission and that’s what sold me on the company.
So full disclosure, I don't own the stock, but I do own the product, and I believe in the larger mission of this company and that mission is to accelerate the worlds transition to sustainable energy/transport, and for me that is a Noble Mission worthy of my support. Cheers!🥂

Autopilot is exactly appropriate. Similar to the autopilot on an aircraft. Aircraft pilots enter the direction, speed, and altitude, then engage autopilot. They then MONITOR the performance of the autopilot. Tesla drivers enter destination (direction) and the speed. Tesla owners then are supposed to MONITOR its performance and they AGREE to monitor Autopilot as a requirement to using Autopilot. Just because some Tesla owners misuse Autopilot, that is NOT Tesla’s responsibility. Incidentally, there have been stories about airline pilots falling asleep when the aircraft is on autopilot. No one would blame the aircraft’s autopilot is the plane crashed.

Everyone has an interesting story. I just wanted an efficient car and wanted to dabble electric but also wanted something nicer than budget commuter cars. I initially started looking at the Toyota Avalon hybrid since my father drives the non-hybrid trim and loves it. However, the mpg bump going with the hybrid wasn't very impressive. Just on a whim, I looked to see how expensive Teslas were and I was surprised to see that I could actually afford one because I forgot they started making slightly less crazy priced ones (3 & Y). I thought about it for a while and decided to put in an order for a Y since that would be the more practical car (and easier to get in/out of). However, the order kept slipping by several months. I switched to a performance model to get one sooner but after a few weeks of more research and test driving one, I decided the ride quality wasn't what I wanted and the upkeep on the tires was going to be too much. So, I canceled and re-ordered the Long Range instead. Same thing, order estimate kept slipping but I was fine with the wait. However, one day while just browsing around, I found some "demo" cars in existing inventory - one with very similar specs to what I wanted - so I jumped on the order and got it before they all disappeared. It's been nearly a year (within a week), and I'm still sitting on my original, now duplicate order. It's been entertaining to watch to see how long I would have waited if I didn't snag the demo car (currently estimated for mid/late September). At this point, I would actually prefer to have it pushed out to January so I could benefit from the tax incentive and possible sell my demo car at that point.

Suspension is a bit stiff, but that is common for performance oriented cars. The Florida grid is pretty solid and currently costing me 1/3rd gas. I just put solar on my roof, so that's even better. I recently seen a Chinese electric car that had the great concept of having a standard size battery for every model they have. Instead of paying $40K + you pay about $10K less and it comes with no battery at all. They have a monthly battery subscription for about $12.99 a month and you take your vehicle to a battery station where they change your drained battery for a newly charged one in about 5-7 minutes. About the same time as filling up your car. Then they inspect and test every battery before charging and replace any bad cells so the next person always gets a good battery. This seems like a no brainer way of doing it. Even the big 4 Japanese motorcycle companies agreed to make all their batteries alike so that they can be swapped between not only models but, between brands. I think al EV vehicle manufacturers should also agree to a standard battery size just like we have AA,AAA,C, & D for other battery products. And just this month in California we all had to cut back on electricity usage between 4-9 PM because of heat waves. This is probably about the same time that most EV drivers charge their vehicles at home. So how is everyone supposed to charge their cars if we don't have enough power plants?

According to my Tesla app charging stats, I spent approximately $800 in electric charging and saved approximately $1.8K in equivalent gasoline charges in a year. Net savings is approximately $1.0K. I pay about $2.3K in county property taxes for my Tesla, plus a road usage tax (normally would be collected at the gas pump for gas vehicles), which brings my total Tesla taxes to approximately $3.3K minus $1.K which totals about $2.3K total charging and county tax/usage fees. A gas vehicle would cost me a minimum of $3.5-$4.0K in gas alone, before county property taxes. There’s no question that electric saves on that expense. When electric prices come down, it will be a no brainer, but for some people, it’s not financially tenable at the moment.

Interesting witnessing Elon's free ad push with Space X using Teslas have its effect in that first story. Nice!

So I saw a red Tesla roadster in down town Denver a plethora of years ago, and immediately knew what it was. I tried to keep up with it from the light. I doubt he was even trying, and still pulled away quickly. Since then I have been keeping tabs on Tesla, and have seen it grow extremely well. There is still just something nostalgic about a turbo 4 banger or a v8 with the rumbly exhaust and loud sound when getting on it.
I am seriously wondering how I can achieve getting a Tesla.
I do have questions.... Does it have AC, how well does it work? Does it have a heater? Stereo? What about the maintenance costs? Brakes, shocks, ????? What else is there to maintaining these? I have heard people saying things about the long term recycling or disposal of the batteries and how terrible it will be for the environment? How about the cost of replacing the batteries?
Please if ANYONE has answers to these questions, I would love to know. I am seriously thinking maybe I should get rid of all the stuff I have that burns gas or diesel, and i vest in a Tesla.

I have a 2015 Model S with free supercharging it has done over 200,000kms and lost about 7% autonomy since new. It would have displaced at least 10 tons of fuel so far. I'm sure that it is far easier to recycle 600kgs of battery than 20 or 30 tons of fuel i would have used before the battery is no longer useable. There is very little servicing to do, I change the cabin air filter myself, it needs air con service from time to time, windscreen wipers and fluid. Brakes are still original, and i live in the Alps... Bad side of it is it eats tyres for breakfast, build quality is only average, and labour rates are very high when something does go wrong. I can also charge from my PV panels when at home.
