Ah yeh I do have an og xbox and it's Cristal edition 1.6 160gb softmoded, and I did make an hd cables for with composit working I just added a switch to it, because I do have some consoles that I keep switching to and I just love having more options with this stuff
And the mod is completely awesome I can't play games on my Xbox using that composit again Specially games like Helo2, fable, ninja gaiden black and more
I literally did the same about 2 or so years ago. So glad I did and never looked back. The cheap Chinese ones I kept buying were dying and it was always getting interference. Now I made my own from official 360 cables and it is beautiful the image quality.
I made it! Looks so much better than aliexpress component cable. But instead of cutting it i just removed the Xbox 360 connector (flathead screwdriver for the plastic clips and bend some metal like on the classic cable) and desoldered everything from the Xbox 360 cable connector. Much easier because inside all ground wires are shrink tubed and ready to solder on the classic cable. :) Btw thanks for the video, i finally have a good Xbox Classic component cable!
Heeeey the channel concept is so cool, I usually watch a lot of DIY and mod videos and it's like a therapy for me... but this video is even more therapeutical hahaha
What a great channel man, not only incredibly useful for modding, but relaxing as hell! Thank you, I'll be using this tutorial soon and prob come back just for the vibes 😎👌
Looks like it! He soldered the white wire and white wire shielding in the place of the red wire and red wire shielding. however it shouldnt really matter because on the tv just reverse where you plug them to correct the mistake
For some reason, the H shaped metal tray for the composite has black wires leading to the connectors welded to it. Is this normal for some official composite cables or has mine been messed with before?
I just bought a cheap third party component cable on Amazon some days ago, this is worse than the original AV xbox cable lol, for 8 bucks this is one of my worst purchase ! I was not expecting a really high picture quality, but at least I thought it would have been at least better than AV, but no, the image has artefacts, with weird colored lines crossing the screen, and sometimes the top of my screen is flickering ! I just saw this video because I have an OG xbox 360 cable like that lying around and I was pretty sure it was possible to do this, sadly I don't have the materials required for that, nothing for welding etc... so my question is ? Is it possible to just, cut both wires at the "middle", the one from OG xbox and the one from the OG xbox 360 and just join the wires (without having to open the plug, and weld wires) ?
Good vedio BUT I wish if you did use that composit cable too to keep the option to switch between HDTV or crt , you simply need to add a small switch to tell the Xbox to switch between mods, but I I understand because there is no info about this whatsoever
Great video, sadly I didn't have any leftover parts of the OG Xbox or 360. I thought you somehow managed to find out what other dirt cheap cables use the same connector
@@RestorationRelaxation Sadly Italians don't really get that stuff devalues hah, I'll still try. I already did buy a cheap cable anyway, but I can imagine it's going to suck (I haven't repaired the Xbox yet so)
Too bad you did not show the pinout when soldering. What wire color should go where on the connector. For the rest an outstanding video, even showing the end result.
Good stuff! I would suggest using either small cut pieces of silicone or rubber tubing to cover the teeth on those alligator clips on your workstation buddy…That’s what I have on mine and they do a great job of minimizing the chances of any pin or board damage while I’m doing my repairs. 👍
@@RestorationRelaxation Um. Both kind of. I want to buy the best component cable (without DIY, although you did an excellent work here). Can you recommend which one to buy? Big thanks in advance!
@@wasdplayer for the 360, I’d recommend a used OEM cable since they’re like $5. For the Xbox, I can’t recommend anything since the official options are very expensive.
Question: Does it matter if the 360 cable has a ferrite core below the connector? Can I just cut that off when making the cuts to expose the wire? Thanks!
While it’s technically possible, I think the end product would look really messy because of the way they’re produced, unfortunately. I’ve thought about doing a Wii hdmi mod though
@@RestorationRelaxationI cut open a cheap component cable and removed the glue but my pins are in a different order then yours. At 5:40 when you solder the first cable I have a short pin instead of a long pin. Is it because I have an European component cable? Any diagram available for those?
it really makes you wonder why microsoft changed the connector from the og to the 360 they could have saved production costs and made component from the start… microsoft does idiotic things though so thats on par i guess😂
I know this video is a year old but just want to let y'all know that console5 and chimeric systems both sell original xbox av connectors if you want to try this but want a slightly cleaner solution. Console5 has some other av connectors for other consoles as well, and im currently using this video as a reference to make a ps2 svideo cable so this is possible on other systems as long as you know the pinout of the connector (as far as i'm aware).
If you have an OG Xbox, let me know what you think of this mod!

I have the same mod for component cables!. I guy was selling a pair online in my country and I didn't doubt of getting one.
Awesome! I sold the cables from this video a few weeks ago. It’d be really cool if the person who bought them saw this video!
This also works on the ps2/3 but with different soldering
Interesting, nice mod. The final pic looked good on screen.
Spotted that thumbnail straight away. 👍
Thank you so much!
5:51 where'd those black wires come from?
Wow this is such a cool mod, and I think I should be able to do this too! thanks for the vid
Keep it up. Quality content!
Thanks man!
Thanks worked just fine with a component multi console adapter.
Hello I was thinking of buying a new one xbox original from ebay and was just wondering if I could plug it in to a modern tv 👍🏻
new sub
i have 2 of those component and im gonna attempt it, already made some wii2hdmi too :)
Thank you! I wanna try the wii2hdmi mod sometime. I use one for my Wii but it has weird diagonal lines on the screen for some reason
Can you make a video utilizing the digital audio?
I’ll look into it for sure
Pretty cool Mod

Maybe I dont Understand but first must be Audio right - red to pin 1 and it's ground to pin 2. Or it depends on cables ?

Yeah you can cut it off. I haven’t noticed a difference in quality

Is there any particular reason that specifically XBOX 360 cables were used, or was it just for a high quality cable?
Just for a high quality, cheap cable
this is amazing , dose this mod support 480p ?
Sure does!
Dose it need to be a Xbox 360 cable or can any high quality cable be to convert to with the original Xbox connector
It can be any cable, but I chose to use a 360 cable because they’re super cheap and high quality
How does this compare to the Microsoft hd pack?
I own a modded cable like such, just have been very tempted to still buy the hd pack 🤷♂️
Identical
