i think the biggest problem with phase 4 are the tv series and how they affect the movies, though Thor 4 had its own problems of tone as well. Wanda relying on Wandavision for character building, Moon Knight, Ms Marvel and She-Hulk's only introduction being those tv series and characters that should have a separate movie like America Chavez being shoehorned in as plot device in Multiverse of Madness...
I watched Multiverse of Madness with my little bro. He said he felt genuinely lost (mostly with Wanda & her kids) cause he didn't bother with or wasn't interested in WandaVision.
@@ItsTheGuy77On my 2nd viewing of MoM I decided to read a quick recap of WandaVision to understand Wanda in the movie better and It made so much difference. Understanding what she's been through makes her character in the movie so much more enjoyable to watch.
Well the thing is we see phase 4 as like phase 1 it’s all experimental phase marvel trying something new to see if it works or not(which is good, you keep to just one thing it eventually becomes stale) like that yeah there’s way more projects than 1 but when you look at it Ironman was the only HUGE , Thor and Captain America were (for the majority) Mixed and Hulk and Ironman 2 didn’t do all that well(tho these are overhated) they didn’t do well at the box office I mean Hulk would’ve probably done a wee bit better if it didn’t come out 2008 since you had juggernauts likes Ironman, The Dark Knight, Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E, Ironman 2(Even tho it’s one of my Guilty Pleasure films, which lets be honest everyone has one) it was a very rushed movie.
I think wed feel differently about America if she’d opened the portals in Spider-Man No Way Home as intended. It would have made way more sense and given her a bigger role in the MCU (as well as keeping her ‘unique’ power unique - I mean, why didn’t Wanda just kidnap Ned?!?) Shame the pandemic screwed everything up. In my head there’s a version of NWH with America opening the portals. It’s way better!
Nice to see more of Jonathan Hickman's work outside of just Secret Wars being more appreciated. A lot of people don't read the build-up for this, and man are they missing out on some stuff.
@@jbshaver829 I want MCU Fantastic Four movie to be based on Jonathan Hickman run of the comics, but I have a feeling MCU is going to botch Fantastic Four like they did Enternals
@@MERCHIODOS the whole run has enough good material to carry a whole dual trilogy arc. And it also so cohesive, and all the seemingly random things tie into each other so beautifully, if done right, it could be something truly special.
I like the idea of the secret wars movie being a reset. The one thing I wish they would do but I know they can't do it now. Is as we build up to a secret wars in our current mcu, it would have been cool if they had made another universe of films to build up so when universe collide fans can root for current mcu and the new one. It would have been cool if our current mcu continued through movies, and the other universe grows along the mcu. The other universe would take place on disney plus as shows so we can get to know new characters quicker in new ways not worry about continuity in the past. But I guess that why we have secret wars.
Too bad Sony's Venom/Morbius universe sucks, because that would be a good contender. Also too bad that the X-Men universe is messy and no longer being continued
As of writing: * the Fox X-men universe is still around, but the status of the X-men there is unknown (Logan movie supposedly killed them off by 2027 before Logan died in 2032, but Deadpool loots his corpse in 2018 and his X-men friends are fine) * all other Fox Marvel universes have been pruned * Sony Marvel universes are all hot messes - Venom being the most salvageable but even then the latest trailer seems to be ignoring the implications set by No Way Home) That only leaves the new Fantastic Four (confirmed an alternate earth from MCU 616) and the Spider-verse series of worlds for a possible Secret Wars collision.
This was definitely all leading up to Secret Wars, but it'll be hard to top what happened in the first 3 Phases especially "Infinity War" and "Endgame." If the MCU ended with just those films being the end of it all, I'd be satisfied and that's why it seems as if Phase 4 hasn't been as great as the previous 3 phases.
well of course phase 4 is not like phase 3, bcs phase 4 meant to be simillar as phase 1 introducing every new heroes for the next big battle... people that we know gone but life still goes on
Yeah, but i felt like i prefer the infinity saga because it's like 11 years of hardwork and storytelling, which is a great way to go, i'm nervous about the multiverse saga however considering that the saga will be like 5 years approx if i'm not wrong? Hope considering the short run time of this saga, they'll do them justice, and make this saga watchable, and worth investing
Plus they were all movies, aka cinema. They were continuous and only in film form. I see the problem with Phase 4 and beyond is that they are trying to link various outlets into a cohesive thing, but I don't see it working out. Just one example is that you have to watch WandaVision to understand the plot of Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness, and I know a lot of people who did not watch Wandavision because they were either not interested, or simply did not have Disney+
They've said that they are thinking about the amount of hours in each saga, and since there are so many tv projects alongside the movies, the amount of hours are about the same. It's faster because it's just more compressed.
Quantity wise 100% too fast, but storywise they’ve been moving way too slow. They need to get the point, and get to it quick before most if not all interest is gone with fans.
@@quackaduck453 so not only was he being a pedantic as hell, but he was wrong too? Nice. Not sure why I even bother trying to say nice things or give positive feedback on the Internet. I’m pretty sure Kang will remain the villain throughout the entire “Multiverse Saga” era of the MCU regardless of how “faithful” that is the comics. Marvel most likely set these plans in motion prior to the Fox buyout. We still haven’t gotten an MCU Fantastic Four movie yet, Reed Richards and Dr Doom could essentially be brand new characters by the time Secret Wars comes out
@@oliversoto7046 The track record of the MCU is not one of doggedly adhering to source material. Kang is already being positioned as the main villain and will stay that way, and even if Doom is around, Reed Richard will hardly be an MCU mainstay by the time Avengers 5/6 come out. It would just be weird to do this conflict with characters who will essentially be brand new at that point. We had two Guardians of the Galaxy movies prior to Infinity War. At the very least, I'm kind hoping and think it is probably more likely, that if Doom climbs to main villain status its after the Multiverse Saga so that we can actually get some full Fantastic Four movies out of him first.
I just can’t see them wasting such a huge character like Doom, especially if they’re introducing him in a post-credit scene years before the F4 movie, similar to how Thanos was introduced in The Avengers.
@@Tecknee They put Spider-Man in Civil War. But they really just fit him in where they could naturally fit him (Let's put an extra character in the airport battle and just throw one intro scene in there so people understand the concept of MCU Spider-Man). Black Panther still played the more dominant role of "Guy who starts off Team Tony, but is more allied with Team Rogers" by the end. The movie ultimately wasn't concerned with being a faithful retelling of the Civil War comic arc at all beyond the concept of "There is a crisis which makes Tony Stark and Steve Rogers right over whether the government can control superheroes"
For me Avengers Endgame felt like the true ending to the MCU. They ended on a high note even if it was flawed, but a satisfying conclusion nevertheless.
Secret wars will be bigger and that’s a fact. Infinity war is small scale compared to this. And Endgame felt like the end of the INFINITY saga, not the entire mcu.
@@vesha6274 I'm done explaining to you what I meant. I'm not gonna waste my time anymore on you. Replying again and again, when you couldn't understand what I wrote. 🤦♂
It's honestly just become like "homework" or a chore you have to do. That's one of the reasons I fell off of comics. You had to keep up with everything to enjoy the "New Event/Crisis". We got 18 films in 10 years, leading up to Infinity War. So far, We've got 13 projects in literally just the past year & a half. Not gonna speak for everyone but It just started to feel tiring to me.
@@amirc.6146 That's what the OP clearly states. If you have to research even to understand entertainment, then it just feel like homework not entertainment.
i loved how loki was basically a meta commentary about how the mcu operated and how it's nothing but feige's never ending boring bullshit. it hates the franchise that it's a part of but also provides a solution on how to be better and surprise surprise! the succeeding installments learned nothing from it
wow, i really underestimated how little i know about marvel comics; knowing the context of this makes the direction the movies are taking make a lot more sense!
"Unlike every other tale in the Mighty Marvel Manner, our heroes... lose." "The Dark Phoenix Saga", "The Korvac Saga", "Days of Future Past", and "Mutant Massacre" all have the heroes losing.
They're gonna need to be doing a lot of work because the last few items have been very lackluster. I personally put a lot of eggs in Thor's basket and it was a failure in my opinion. I don't know if I care enough to come back. I gladly gave them 10 years from Iron Man to Endgame and they delivered there.
i always say that the pandemic forced rewrites and reshoots so while i understand that you don't want to pay for a shitty product, i would suggest to treat phase 4 as an "okay sure whatever" phase and start being harsh in phase 5.
Their track record has been a little spotty lately, it's true, but people forget that from the run from Iron Man to Endgame there were some clunkers in there too. Thor Dark World, Iron Man 2, Age of Ultron... even a bunch of movies that were decent but nothing remarkable like Guardians 2 and Iron Man 3. I think once Marvel starts running towards their big finish lines we start getting real bangers like Civil War, Ragnarok and Infinity War. This era's more a little bit dull but that might just be because we're in kind of the "filler" area where they have to slowly put the pieces together to the big picture. I have a feeling that Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars (along with hopefully a few others along the way) are gonna blow some minds.
@@Monika-hw7ey the pandemic isnt big enough of an excuse for all the garbage theyve been putting out. the mcu is just trash now, no reason to try and defend it lmao
I don’t think I ever had any question that they’d do multiverse/Secret Wars stuff eventually. I think anyone who knows anything about the big comic events (which are literally all I know about comics) knew it was in the pipeline eventually. But for me the struggle is aside from “multiverses exist, and sometimes they break,” I don’t think there’s been a clear plot thread the way there was with the infinity stones. I mean, the avengers were hinted at almost instantly and by Captain America’s first movie we had the tesseract and explicit hints of it being connected to a bigger thing. Nowadays we get some lady in purple jumping out of nowhere in the post credits of Dr Strange 2 and being like “wanna go?” And without any explanation of who she is or why he’d trust her they’re off. So basically, all this to say, we all knew it was going to happen but the problem is almost nobody knows how it’s going to get there.
There wasn't a clear plot thread with the Infinity Stones either. Ot was a lot of random stuff, and at some point coloured Stones stared to drop every other movie, which got old really fast, and the movies were rightfully mocked for it. There was never a plan from Avengers to Endgame. There was skillful making it up as you go along and pretend this was where you were going the entire time, while hoping nobody remembers all the stuff you're not following up on.
I mean are they gonna replace all the beyonders with a bunch of Kangs? And skip the fun 80’s Secret Wars stuff that is more up the MCU’s Alley? So lame
@@dws0828 It's not as if a conflict between a bunch of Kangs hasn't been done in the comics. They're definitely not doing the 80s "Let's just have a bunch of giant fights and call it a day" story.
SW doesnt need to be any longer than 3:15. destroy the multiverse in TKD, tease/set the stage of what happens next in the projects between TKD/SW, spend a few minutes at the beginning and end of SW doing whatever, with the rest taking place on battleworld
@@echo_z319 See my idea was having the multiverse destroyed in Kang Dynasty and have that film be 3hrs 15min long. Have Secret Wars be 4hrs divided into 2 Chapters, 2hrs each. Have Chapter 1 focus on world building, character development, heartbreaking scenes, some comedic scenes, and setting up for what's to come in Chapter 2. Have a 15 minute intermission after Chapter 1, and then go balls to the wall with Chapter 2. Full of action, surprises, epic scenes, a super intense and nail biting final battle, heartbreaking death scenes, and a satisfying conclusion. I want Kang Dynasty to be Infinity War on steroids, and for Secret Wars to be a 4hr emotional roller coaster. A 4hr masterpiece.
I understand that plenty of people wanted to see the MCU finish up with Endgame, but objectively speaking, that would not happen and people know it.When Endgame finished I knew that Marvel would pump even more content, and it was actually a perfect ending that WOULD set up the next big villains.Maybe the execution wasn’t all the best with horrible stories like She-Hulk and the Marvels, but come on,who doesn’t want to see Doom and Galactus executed correctly on the big screen??
People are hating on MCU right now but I'm old enough to remember watching Iron Man change the game. Then Iron Man 1&2 came out to mixed reviews, and so too was Captain America and Thor met with the same reception. Even civil war was met with mixed reviews. End Game happens and MCU changes the game again. I'm not saying it's a certainty they pull it off a third time. But they've got the track record to support an idea like that.
Replacing Molecule Man would be such a shame- I was introduced to him in Secret Wars, and I loved his character, but that's fair. Honestly, I am sort of hyped for if the MCU can pull Secret Wars off, but it is going to be incredibly difficult.
@@jakubrejak1114 Yeah.. no. darkholds destroyed and even then she wasnt MM level. Only works with kang assuming they are going an owen reece/beyonder route
I love how we got an announcement of ONE Fantastic Four film and despite literally everything building up to Kang as the big bad of this phase, and Kevin Feige saying that explicitly, people STILL think Doom is the villain of Secret Wars because of one comic book series. EYE ROLL. Marvel loosely adapts their comic series, remember that!
homie doom is being introduced this year and will obviously appear multiple times again… theyre not making kang the villain of SW lol…. thats like assuming in
@@echo_z319 Because obviously Age of Ultron and Infinity War were so accurate to the source material... why the fuck would they be building up to Kang over the course of the whole phase (like with Thanos) only to end it with a villain who is *rumoured* to show up in a post credits scene and possibly but again not confirmed in F4... to make a better comparison would be for Thanos to be killed in Infinity War and then have Adam Warlock be the villain in Endgame even though we've seen nothing of him up until that point except teases. Marvel aren't building up Kang as the big bad of this phase only to replace him in the final Avengers film.
@@cannotthinkofausername6379 homie the whole point of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is to have the new team fight Kang in order to save reality. Sorry to break it to you
I disagree that Doom has to take the main role- seems pretty obvious to me that Kang or Immortus (probably the latter) will take that role, and Wanda will take the Molecule Man one. The reason the comics stories work is because we have years of buildup from Hickman, not to mention the 50+ years of Marvel, while there's zero for Doom in the MCU, and they won't have time to build Reed too.
Secret Wars could be like a testing ground for Marvel. Think about it, it's a multiversal war. They could now officially cast everyone or anyone in Hollywood to play a marvel character and see if people like it. Also, they could now bring back past actors, even back to the 60s to play their original characters.
7:50-The picture is awesomely splendid of the future Phases 5 to 6. Imagine Miles Morales getting along with Peter Parker Spider in his Spidey costume. That will be very, very, very outstanding!🤨
They should've just made like this - *Movies :* Shang - Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings No Way Home Thor 4 Black Panther & climaxing with Doctor Strange 2 (just make it more of things are changing type of movie, rather than a middling one) *Series* WandaVision Loki MoonKnight and yes just 3 of those and *What If* *I am Groot* are just fun, no harm for Continuity things... so these 2 can exist Scrap all of others.
eliminate black widow, eternals, ironheart, echo, agatha (unless that involves doom), ms marvel/the marvels (make captain marvel 2 about… captain marvel..) and its good for me
The thing that made Secret Wars (2015) so special was the YEARS of set up it had through multiple titles and runs from Jonathan Hickman. Fantastic Four, Avengers, New Avengers, etc. It was a story built through so many other stories in the background until it finally came to the forefront. I find the MCU trying to build up to that level of event in two phases rushed. It feels like they’re sprinting through the finish line for the quickest cash grab and not taking the time and care to set this story up as the biggest cinematic event of all time like infinity war and endgame were. On top of that I’m extremely worried it will just become a shallow, cameo filled, “avengers” movie. My issue with this being an Avengers movie is that Secret Wars is NOT a Avengers story and it’s not filled with cameos from other timelines. The actual main cast of the story wasn’t that big and the main characters were Reed and Doom. It’s a love letter to a decades long relationship between these two characters. Having that history between the two is what makes the story incredible. You need to have that build up but the MCU is introducing Doom and the four in the same phase as secret wars which makes me think this will be a rush job and following the recent MCU trend of quantity over quality. Secret wars shouldn’t happen until we’ve had time to properly set up all of those necessary components for a compelling story.
I wouldn't worry about it. The only think Captain America: Winter Soldier has in common with the comic of the same name is pretty much just Bucky and Sharon Carter being in it And the film and comic, although very different from one another, are very good in their own ways.
I really have been enjoying your videos about the new MCU movies and this new phase because I’ve been frustrated trying to understand or figure out where this is all going. For me, for awhile it just felt like they were throwing out shows and movies to keep people interested but the quality just isn’t there. Understanding a little bit better as to where this is all leading up to gives me a bit of hope. Not saying that all of it’s been great but it’s nice to have a clearer picture
would hit even harder if they made he who remains say “without the me, without the tva…. everything dies” instead of “everything burns” but nope they love to change everything!….
Few things I want to say. I see alot of comments about; "superhero fatigue". Wishing they would have ended at Endgame. 1. That may be the case for you. And that's fine. Stop watching then. No harm no foul. 2. People are aging into the MCU. Who may of been to young during phases 1-3. Or just didn't care at the time. And are just now getting into it. So, for alot of people the fatigue hasn't set in. Because it's new to them. Newer characters being introduced now are bringing new people into the MCU. 3. And people like me who just aren't tired of them yet.
except your stop watching thing is woefully ignorant. Disney blackmails theaters to show their awful films all day all night. I got marvel fatigues around the time of winter last year and didn't wanna watch no way home. I was planning on watching West Side Story and Nightmare Alley and guess what? They were taken out of theaters 5 days after their release, the moment that awful no way home trash dropped. And I say this as someone who loves superhero genre. Disney marvel should either put out good films by letting filmmakers do their thing instead of forcing them to make corporate mandated garbage OR stop blackmailing theaters into only showing their garbage.
@@shadowscythes cool but i thought it was nothing more than a reddit fanfic. the only marvel movie I've liked in recent years is multiverse of madness and that is purely because it focused on Strange and Wanda first and foremost.
I think that Secret Wars will unite all of the universes into one, eliminating the concept of a multiverse and finally giving us the full marvel universe from the comics.
While i am excited for secret wars i feel like the fantastic four and doom shouldve been introduced now so there can be more time for them to develop. Unless mcu completely changes the story which im sure it will
People are always so critical and I’m not gonna say there hasn’t been some serious missteps. That being said, I’m almost 35…so having spent most of my life without comic book movies on this scale and a somewhat cohesive cinematic universe is more than I ever could have hoped for. I didn’t read every comic but I loved the world and mostly knew the lore. I’m their ideal audience I guess. Just knowledgeable to appreciate it
What I don’t understand is that the Fantastic 4 movie doesn’t come out until after Secret Wars, so are they even going to be involved in the movie before their standalone comes out?
It would be absolutely wild if they bring back all the protagonists of all Marvel movies, even those predating the MCU for the Secret Wars movie. We'd have (at least) three different sets of Fantastic 4 (who are going to end up being the most important part of this storyline)
What they're probably going to do is just CGI/vfx everyone in. Most of the contracts are up and instead of off one payments, they'll just ADR them in or dub in the voice over a suit and stunt doubles.they already tested the waters with "what if" iron man. That's most likely what they will do and then bring back the absolutely most popular actors/actresses (Scarjo is not coming back, Chris Evans is likely to come back as Johnny storm/captain America, Hemsworth is likely since he's still doing movies, rdj has already been clearly replaced and done with marvel...will be more of a iron lad/iron hear adaptation. Etc.
That Fall 2024 spot we now know is Sept for Deadpool 3 with Jackman returning as Wolverine. That movie then Fantastic 4 two months later. Then 1 year later is Secret Wars. Marvel will be killing it from Sept 2024 to Nov 2025.
i came into comics at the end of secret wars 1 and comics fan until 92 or so but we had many shops back then. I had purchased a lot of the secret wars comics to play catch up. So big fan of Sercet Wars, Inferno, Alantis Rises, Uncanny Xmen so any good things.
Honestly, the MCU needs a hard reset. It started out strong back in '08 but it slowly became clear that after Phase 2, they were running out of ideas due to various issues (IP rights being one). It's been an absolute shit show since Infinity War and I think recasting the majority of characters would be the best thing in the long run. After Secret Wars just start it all over from scratch and do it right this time, but if the past movies/shows are any indication of the direction the MCU is heading, it probably will just be worse after the reset.
Yeah as soon as Secret Wars was announced I'm pretty sure a lot of us know Dr. Doom is the new big bad and Kang is just a placeholder for ppl who possibly don't read the comics or just don't know
Lmao at this entire situation now. Secret wars turned out to be dying sputter of a team devoid of ideas or smart writing. Imagine writing a bodysnatcher espionage thriller, only to show every single person who isnt a skrull in the first few episodes. What were they even trying with it?
My only fear is that Doom is going to be introduced too late into the universe. The Fantastic 4 Film (which is where I assume Doom's intro would be) is in 2024, and within 1-2 years needs to become the big bad of the multiverse.
I'd also argue that it'd make the Fantastic 4 film a bit derivitive, because filmmakers have been using Doom as the villain of Fantastic 4 movies for basically 2 decades now. And even if people didn't think it was too soon to do this again, it'll make it hard for the new one to not be compared to the old ones (since the villain and likely the conflict of the story would be the same)
@@philbattiste9649 The only way I can see them avoiding this is having Doom appear in a movie prior to Fantastic 4 and then being like a secondary villain in the Fantastic 4 film, but I don't know what project the MCU could have him in other than a solo Doom film/show which wouldn't even be finished (if they started now) by at least 2025
Unfortunately Jonathan Hickman is not writing for the MCU, which may be for the best seeing as the MCU is now openly butchering the stories of better writers than they are employing to make these films. I have no faith in Secrets Wars being any good, though if they reset the MCU afterward, we might get some good films following; however fans may have lost their patience and interest by then.
The MCU completely despises writers or directors who know about these stories, they want people who doesn't even know... who Adam Warlock is, for example. She-Hulk sucked. Ms Marvel sucked. MoM sucked. WF sucked. BW sucked. Eternals sucked. Shang Chi was a meh. NWH was an ok. Moon Knight was alright and Werewolf By Night was a masterpiece. Just ONE good product... VS 14 that sucked or were just a meh.
Cant help but think Secret Wars will bring in fox xmen, Toby & andrew again, mid 2000s FF, nick cage as ghost rider, ben Affleck as daredevil, eric bana and/or ed norton as hulk, the netflix shows, tom janes punisher etc. Trim all those timeline branches, while introducing the new FF, x men, and avengers going forward, where marvel has total control of one timeline
I honestly hope that 7:39 does not happen because it would likely take away a huge chunk of the emotional impact from avengers endgame along with a strong sense of realism in the MCU
Thank you for some background on Secret Wars! I didn't really know much of anything about it before this. Thanks for another interesting video! Stay well out there everybody, and God bless you, friends. ✝️ :)
I think it would’ve been a good idea for Marvel to keep the Fox X-Men universe going with new projects, that way the X-Men universe could inevitably play the same role that the Ultimate Universe plays in Secret Wars.
I think the issue is most of the original cast are older, and Marvel usually thinks long term with their characters which is why they'll most likely go with new actors, though they could come in as cameos, which I think Hugh Jackman will come in as in Deadpool 3.
So far, aren't XMen (and mutants overall) excluded from MCU? Could that mean, that after Secret Wars we could FINALLY get some focus on mutants? I swear lack of them hurts some stories. Like lack of Fantastic Four hurt the possible impact of Civil War. And retelling of Apocalypse Saga or Dark Phoenix Saga could be done way better than Fox did due to inclusion of non-mutant characters since those were global events, no reason why others shouldn't help/get caught in it. Similar stuff with possible Galactus story in the future.
Secret Wars will act as a soft reboot of the MCU & will bring the X-Men characters from fox studios movies into the main universe. This way audience won't ask "Where the hell were the mutants all this time". Atleast that's what I think.
They already introduced Mutants, and apparently they are going with "Mutants are a new thing that just now is starting to happen". Which makes perfect sense.
@@Carabas72 Also, most X-men started as teenagers anyway. Exceptions are Wolverine (stays in the shadows) and Xavier (why no one knows about the guy that can erase knowledge from people's minds is a question that answers itself).
It's probably literally to bring in the X-men to the universe without having to explain where they've been all these years, whilst bringing in any loose canon properties into the main canon like AOS. I do think Phase 7 will be a complete jumping on point. Phase 4 was supposed to be that, but it still has connections to Phases 1-3.
They would have to explain the existence of the scarlet witch being around since phase 2 a know mutant in the comics whose powers aren’t form the infinity stones like they are in the movies
I think Marvel saw what Phase 4 ended up being and decided that this was the way to go. For the people that feel like Marvel movies aren’t really that good anymore, you’ll prolly have to wait until Phase 7 for the best of Marvel. I think Madame Web and Beyond the Spider-Verse will connect to this. The live action version of Peter B. Parker with end up being the “Totem Spider” and the universe will reset with him and a live action Miles. It’d be interesting to see Spider-Gwen in their universe too.
I believe the original Secret Wars (1984), the one to sell toys, was unpopular. I think the most recent Secret Wars (2015) was well liked. The youtuber Matt Draper makes a great video talking about the 2015 Secret Wars I definitely recommend checking it out if you're interested in knowing more about the 2015 series.

New girl is a great show. Watch it again and think of how those characters relate to yourself and your loved one. A great underrated show that revolves around respect and empathy.
i imagine the beginning of the movie explains to certain characters what battleworld is, showing different powerful characters ruling different parts of battleworld. Maybe have cages GR ruling an island full of supernatural characters, an actual atlantis variant instead of tAlOcAn ruling an ocean, nidavelier as a battleworld satellite, etc
That's what worries so much about "everything lives." If everything inevitably comes back and negates the stakes that result from death and permanent loss, then why should I care?
I get what Marvel & Disney is doing . But the lead up in phase four so far is not great. Also we don’t want half our hero’s turning out to be skrulls just for the plot in one movie to move forward.
Bruh there’s literally 3 storylines called Secret War(s) 🤣 they don’t have to do the sequel story to the 1980’s book before they actually do the 1980’s secret wars. They’re just trying to reboot
I personally don't want Doom to be the main antagonist of Secret Wars. His character has been ruined too many times before. He needs his own series to build up his character. The Books of Doom are the best foundation for that. Also add some of the flair from Iron Man 1 and Doctor Strange 1 to accompany his technological and mystical prowess. If they can accomplish that, and give us a proper Victor.. then maybe he'd be fitting for Secret Wars, but if not, then it'll just be another waste of his character.
You are not going to believe what happened at comic con 24

@@gideonpepys I have to be honest when I read “America” I thought you were talking about United States…
Nice to see more of Jonathan Hickman's work outside of just Secret Wars being more appreciated. A lot of people don't read the build-up for this, and man are they missing out on some stuff.
His fantastic four run and the time runs out saga are even better than secret wars in my opinion
His FF run is my favorite marvel story ever printed
@@jbshaver829 I want MCU Fantastic Four movie to be based on Jonathan Hickman run of the comics, but I have a feeling MCU is going to botch Fantastic Four like they did Enternals
What would you recommend people read to get it all?
"Oh no, the Daredevil/Elektra universe from 2003 is dying!"
I think we're basically getting that idea but with the old Fox universes and the Sony Spider-Man stuff
Too bad Sony's Venom/Morbius universe sucks, because that would be a good contender. Also too bad that the X-Men universe is messy and no longer being continued
would be cool to see miles enter the mcu at the end of across the spiderverse part 2 in a post credit scene or towards the end of the movie
As of writing:
* the Fox X-men universe is still around, but the status of the X-men there is unknown (Logan movie supposedly killed them off by 2027 before Logan died in 2032, but Deadpool loots his corpse in 2018 and his X-men friends are fine)
* all other Fox Marvel universes have been pruned
* Sony Marvel universes are all hot messes - Venom being the most salvageable but even then the latest trailer seems to be ignoring the implications set by No Way Home)
That only leaves the new Fantastic Four (confirmed an alternate earth from MCU 616) and the Spider-verse series of worlds for a possible Secret Wars collision.
This was definitely all leading up to Secret Wars, but it'll be hard to top what happened in the first 3 Phases especially "Infinity War" and "Endgame." If the MCU ended with just those films being the end of it all, I'd be satisfied and that's why it seems as if Phase 4 hasn't been as great as the previous 3 phases.
well of course phase 4 is not like phase 3, bcs phase 4 meant to be simillar as phase 1 introducing every new heroes for the next big battle... people that we know gone but life still goes on
@@rafaelrose14 Exactly. It wouldn't work if it kept building the stakes over and over, we had to have a semi-reset.
Secret wars is just soft rebooting mcu
End game was cool but infinity wars was better.
@@anasrahman465 I could see that, then iron man could come back played by someone else
It feels like the MCU is moving way too fast right now. Are they afraid they’re going to be forgotten or something?
They've said that they are thinking about the amount of hours in each saga, and since there are so many tv projects alongside the movies, the amount of hours are about the same. It's faster because it's just more compressed.
You could say the Phases are collapsing in on themselves

Quantity wise 100% too fast, but storywise they’ve been moving way too slow. They need to get the point, and get to it quick before most if not all interest is gone with fans.

I’m pretty sure Kang will remain the villain throughout the entire “Multiverse Saga” era of the MCU regardless of how “faithful” that is the comics. Marvel most likely set these plans in motion prior to the Fox buyout. We still haven’t gotten an MCU Fantastic Four movie yet, Reed Richards and Dr Doom could essentially be brand new characters by the time Secret Wars comes out
Doom is basically confirmed to appear in a Wakanda Forever post credit scene, so I do think they are trying to stay true to the source material
@@TheJadedJames that’s how they introduced Spider-Man in civil war 🤷🏼♂️

I really hope they don’t mess up secret wars they were some of my favourite comics.
They have 4 years I doubt it.
"Unlike every other tale in the Mighty Marvel Manner, our heroes... lose."
"The Dark Phoenix Saga", "The Korvac Saga", "Days of Future Past", and "Mutant Massacre" all have the heroes losing.
A story about Marvel's first hero, and first villain, Doom and that damn Richards, respetively.
@@Monika-hw7ey fair actually

So lame

I have said this once and I'll say it again. Avengers: Kang Dynasty has to be 3hrs long, while Avengers: Secret Wars has to be 4hrs long.

I hope the future content picks up. Would love if these turn out great
Secret Wars could be like a testing ground for Marvel. Think about it, it's a multiversal war. They could now officially cast everyone or anyone in Hollywood to play a marvel character and see if people like it. Also, they could now bring back past actors, even back to the 60s to play their original characters.

We need an update of this video after Secret Invasion end!
The only think Captain America: Winter Soldier has in common with the comic of the same name is pretty much just Bucky and Sharon Carter being in it
And the film and comic, although very different from one another, are very good in their own ways.
doom is being introduced this year and f4 at the very beginning of the phase while sw is at the very end….
Not saying that all of it’s been great but it’s nice to have a clearer picture
they should have the poster tagline be "Everything dies." for Kang Dynasty and "Everything lives." for Secret Wars
would hit even harder if they made he who remains say “without the me, without the tva…. everything dies” instead of “everything burns” but nope they love to change everything!….
Secret Wars is still the biggest Marvel event
Doom is the new big bad and Kang is just a placeholder for ppl who possibly don't read the comics or just don't know
The Secret Wars that introduced the Sinister clones with the goofier personality? Yes please.

VS 14 that sucked or were just a meh.
it would be cool if the Multiverse Saga is about building up the Battleworld, and then the last saga would end it all.
I think they will introduce mutant and X-Men after Secret Wars, because when the timeline is reset, it will seem like mutants are always there
Honestly, I think they’ll put in the Fox’s unvierse for a real X-men vs the Avengers movie
Cant help but think Secret Wars will bring in fox xmen, Toby & andrew again, mid 2000s FF, nick cage as ghost rider, ben Affleck as daredevil, eric bana and/or ed norton as hulk, the netflix shows, tom janes punisher etc. Trim all those timeline branches, while introducing the new FF, x men, and avengers going forward, where marvel has total control of one timeline
man i really hope they recreate that panel of Doom ripping out Thanos’ spine
I honestly hope that 7:39 does not happen because it would likely take away a huge chunk of the emotional impact from avengers endgame along with a strong sense of realism in the MCU
?? It's a multiverse
Should be tom Cruise as superior iron man tbh.
Came back here after RDj got announced as doctor doom
I think Secret Wars maybe what they use to fuse the X-Men and Fantastic Four into the MCU as one shared world.
Can't wait to see dr doom ❤️❤️
Thank you for some background on Secret Wars! I didn't really know much of anything about it before this. Thanks for another interesting video!
Stay well out there everybody, and God bless you, friends. ✝️ :)
If you're into comics, I'd say definitely give reading the Saga a shot, even if you only read the main pieces and none of the connected stuff.
I love the MCU, for the most part. But I just don't see them getting secret wars right without more build up for Reed and Victor.
Exactly
They would have to explain the existence of the scarlet witch being around since phase 2 a know mutant in the comics whose powers aren’t form the infinity stones like they are in the movies
Mutants are already in the MCU, and most X-men start as teenagers anyway.
@@TheCowardRobertFord are they? From Ms Marvel i assume. Haven't seen it yet.
@@Veela666 Yes, and there's Namor coming in Black Panther.
I think Secret Wars should be a 2 parter in order to tell the story well.
thats literally whats happening. TKD: the second kang war that ends the multiverse. everything dies. SW: battleworld. everything lives.
I wonder if they will lose against Doom, and the MCU gets rebooted and we get movies via the perspective of battle word residents
I really dont know where the MCU goes after Secret Wars but Im signed on until then.
I very much doubt that anything Sony does on their own will ever connect to the MCU in a more meaningful way than an easter egg here and there.
Wasn’t secret wars kinda an unpopular series?
I believe the original Secret Wars (1984), the one to sell toys, was unpopular. I think the most recent Secret Wars (2015) was well liked. The youtuber Matt Draper makes a great video talking about the 2015 Secret Wars I definitely recommend checking it out if you're interested in knowing more about the 2015 series.
25 secret wars was well received, p sure it was the original that doesnt
I look forward to watching the story play out...
Yeah, seems like everything just wants to fast forward to the end of this new saga with phase 6 and Secret Wars and not bother with all the creme in the middle.
@@topher9507
Some folks just want the Cliff Notes version of the story because their attention span is short. I want to see every piece of this story's puzzle get put in place, so I can enjoy the overall process of the story...
@@mattchew6426 or cuz people want spaced out and better content that we have to pay for than what we've been getting
Just a guess.....
Black panther should be the next piece. Doom could very well be the antagonist or a credit teaser
I hope everything is true honestly, great video.
The way they could set up DOOM to make him be feared. Is in secret wars show God DOOM step up to a variant of Thanos and just Rip his spine and skull out. It'll show how much of a threat he is. That's why Kane has failed. We don't know how powerful he is. Show us the power of DOOM
New girl is a great show. Watch it again and think of how those characters relate to yourself and your loved one. A great underrated show that revolves around respect and empathy.
Also a friendly reminder to take a break from sci-fi and indulge in the portrayal of regular human interaction :)
@@jocelynsimental4162 Which certainly doesn't apply to New Girl.
they also said they are going to split secret wars in 2 movies
Thanos will definitely be back in secret wars
there’ll probably be a bunch of returning actors. Imagine nic cage ghost rider showing up to battle world.
i imagine the beginning of the movie explains to certain characters what battleworld is, showing different powerful characters ruling different parts of battleworld. Maybe have cages GR ruling an island full of supernatural characters, an actual atlantis variant instead of tAlOcAn ruling an ocean, nidavelier as a battleworld satellite, etc
If Chris Evans comes back, it threatens the storytelling stakes of future Marvel films.
That's what worries so much about "everything lives." If everything inevitably comes back and negates the stakes that result from death and permanent loss, then why should I care?
Not really. Technically steve created a new universe so we can just say that steve is from that alternate universe
Thats the problem why comics crumbled both marvel/dc
I get what Marvel & Disney is doing . But the lead up in phase four so far is not great. Also we don’t want half our hero’s turning out to be skrulls just for the plot in one movie to move forward.
Well of course. There are no other massive story lines that the MCU can handle
Bruh there’s literally 3 storylines called Secret War(s) 🤣 they don’t have to do the sequel story to the 1980’s book before they actually do the 1980’s secret wars. They’re just trying to reboot
I wanna see chris evans reprise his role as Johnny Storm more than Cpt America lmaooo
If they can accomplish that, and give us a proper Victor.. then maybe he'd be fitting for Secret Wars, but if not, then it'll just be another waste of his character.
this is an excellent morning show
We can only hope marvel will do secret wars...as well as in the 90s Spider-Man series..Somewhat.
You called the rdj re-cast
The future is really messing up the present. Methink MCU should go back the way of smaller pictures before bigger ones, like they used to.
That is exactly what phase 4 has been.
I wonder what will happen after the multiverse saga.
Can you make a video on Nathan Fielders The Rehearsal
