lol right? Whenever I see a vid about making small trees I am like "Oh boy here we go" but then I feel let down because it requires expensive equipment that I will rarely use. Now I am expecting to be let down because no one in my home country ever sells the simple things like asparagus twigs.
@@NightShiftScaleModels sadly the more realistic you want it to look, the less you can avoid buying something specialized for your need. Still holding my hand from buying those 25 euro twigs though.
@@NightShiftScaleModels Making scale models in my architecture studies I came up on the vine tendrils. Just like your branches the ones I took were dry, after winter. But I found them useful as a material for making regular braches as well. Maybe not pine or spruce - straight ones more like the oak or a type of willow (excluding weeping one) Salix babylonica maybe? Hazel called "Red Majestic" with actual red paint on it - nice. This is what separates you from the rest. I’ve never seen that much work go into some twigs. I’ll definitely try this method. I model in 1/64th and I’m a stickler for detail like you and the train stuff looks ok, there’s only a couple that do it right. You sir did it right.
I look forward to these every week....wake up Saturday morning and be blown away with your creations. Love your work mate, can't wait for the grand finale!
Very nice technique. I have often made use of several different types of spice plants. They can be made to mimic a lot of things and they are very pleasant to work with. Nothing better than modeling with the odor of fennel, basil, rosemary; close at hand. See you guys next week.
Genius, absolute genius. I've never been able to replicate decent foliage camoflage, despite numerous attempts. I'm going to get some of this and try it for myself. Thanks for and excellent video and brilliant tip👍
Holy heck.......Martin spends more effort on a tree branch than I do on the whole model (well, almost!). Brilliant looking stuff....may need to get for a Nashorn
I dont know if mentioning another UA-cam channel is allowed here, but folks might get some tips from The Terrain Tutor's videos. Also his Terrainiacs group. A wonderful bunch of wargamers, dio builders, and model railroaders. Really nice folks and the knowledge pool is deep.
I salute you for the nice work! The overall look of the branches are great. For a tank operating in the Mediterranean or Northern Africa it’s absolutely correct in scale. The stone pine, botanical name Pinus pinea, also known as the Italian stone pine, umbrella pine or parasol pine which grows in the area has long (10 - 20 cm) needles. If you are extremely picky the needles grows in bundles but that’s to exaggerate 😀 For a tank operating in Northern Europe the needles are a bit long.
This is awesome! All the previous techniques I've seen for creating branch camo has been rather disappointing and unrealistic, but these actually look like evergreen branches.
Lovely work :) I'm nearing the end of my own Tamiya Jagdtiger build. All I will say is Takom looks to be the better model. Fantastic job, thanks for sharing all these tips! They were incredibly useful on my own weathering process.
@@NightShiftScaleModels fitwise Tamiya is superior. However, it has a serious lack of weld detail in a few prominent parts. For example, there is no weld detail on the part connecting the upper and lower hull which is noticeable on the front hull. There is simply a recess in that place. There's also missing weld detail in the connecting part between the front and rear parts of the casemate. The one nice thing I can say is there is a lot of subtle but nice looking cast detail on the parts and rolled steel effect.
Fantastic artwork! It is hard to imagine that it still may become better, when "finishing" the model. For me it looks like being finished since episode 4 of this series XD
Suggestions: I think it would be really fun to see you tackle one of those really unorthodox multi-turreted soviet tanks. Something like the KV5, the SMK, the T28 or maybe even the T35. It would also be a nice to see you do some snow effects. Things like dirty snow piling up inside the mud guards, melting snow on the engine deck and dry snow or frost on the colder parts of the machine. It would be nice to see how one does these things well.
HANS! MORE ASPARAGUS! I CAN STILL SEE THE TANK!
Okey!!
This is literally God sent. I was searching how to make pine branches a few hours before!
this God's called UA-cam Algorithm
Finally, a tree branch that has nothing to do with woodland scenic.

I know something even more relaxing than building a kit.
watching a video of you building a kit
The only really realistic way to do it, it seems from watching many videos! Thank you!
As the model itself nears completion I get more and more excited for not only the finished product but the diorama/scenic base It'll have

Mmmmmmmmm, more beautiful videos of beautiful modelling!
