Both, I think. The M18 Hellcat was often used in a tank destroyer role due to its powerful 76mm gun. However, the M18 was designed for speed and maneuverability, which are also key characteristics of light tanks.
The hellcat couldn't be able to be used as a traditional light tank due to having much thinner armor than said tanks, let alone being open topped during most of its service life.

Not really, I think. While cruiser tanks and light infantry tanks share similarities in speed and maneuverability, they differ in armor, armament, and purpose. Cruiser tanks prioritize speed and firepower for rapid advances, whereas light infantry tanks are designed to support infantry with smaller guns and lighter armor.
Not exactly, like what the reply said, in simple terms an infantry tank does not need to go faster than the infantry because it needs to support the infantry hence why the Mathilda and Churchill tanks were so slow
As my opinion, it can be both. The Tortoise, while often classified as a heavy tank because of its size and weight, also fits the classification of an assault gun due to its limited turret, focus on infantry support, and powerful howitzer
