Extreme Furniture Makeover

- This dresser is getting an extreme furniture makeover. The drawers and drawer slides were broken beyond repair so i decided to turn this into a console shelf. And I will be using color from on of my new favorite furniture mineral paint lines, Lilly Moon Paint. You won't believe the after on this one!

I would love a video about brush care and safe disposal of waste after painting and staining furniture. When you use the brush to paint is it okay to use the same brush for topcoat after it is cleaned...then use it again for paint after it is cleaned? How about a wax brush...do you use one brush exclusively for applying wax?

I don't use oil based stains for this very reason. The clean up and disposal of the waste can be tedious depending where you live. You can use the same brush for paint and a water based topcoat, but if you can afford two brushes, it is a good idea to just use one for paint and one for topcoat. For wax, definitely only use it for wax. And if you use dark wax at all, have a dedicated dark wax brush as well.
Love the color! Always terrific when a piece can be saved. RIP drawers . . .

I’d use it for my plants-cuz look at how beautiful the greenery goes with that color!!! Baskets could be used for fertilizer, small plant tools, water mister, etc!!!! I probably wouldn’t have been brave enough to try it. I have a dresser I got at an auction. Nobody was bidding and I hadn’t checked it. I got it for like $10. I got it home and when I started working on it I realized why. It’s sat in my shop for months. The carcass is super sturdy. The drawers are cheap and not worth salvaging. Watching this gave me some new found motivation and hope for that piece. I’ll have to give it another shot.
This turned out great! 👍🏻I did the same thing 4 months ago with a Bassett dresser that was missing a drawer. I have yet to decide how to utilize the remaining drawers, but I was able to repurpose the drawer slides to repair another dresser.

I love this!! The same thing just happened to me, I got a free dresser but the drawers were in pretty bad condition. So, I'm turning it into a shelf and using the wood from the fronts of the drawers to make the bottoms of the shelf. :)

Came out great :). You can also angle the pin nailer a bit that way the board/plywood doesnt "easily" come pop up/out. Unless you want it to :/. Love the final piece. I have a piece of old school media console that I have been meaning to makeover, but boy o' boy, is it hard to get started lol, at least for me that is. I have no problems starting on a woodworking project, but doing a furniture makeover, is daunting to me lmao. Keep them awesome videos coming. God bless and cheers from Texas :)

I love, love how this turned out! Never in a million years would I guess this was once a dresser. Personally I would have thrown it out because I wouldn’t have been clever enough to think of turning it into a shelf/console.

Super cool! I love the colour and how you added the shelves. I am not to brave when it comes to color! The darkest shade I’ve ever painted was called eucalyptus by fusion mineral paint. It’s a very light green. I usually stick to all the neutrals.

Christina, I was wondering if you're thinking about trying out any of the new Lily Moon Garden Collection colors? I've been looking at Opalina, but I also like some of the others and can't make up my mind which to try first! It's so difficult to tell what a color will look like in person vs. on the computer screen.

Great video… again! Just curious why you continue to brush or roll on paint if you have a sprayer that seems to make refinishing so much more consistent/convenient?
