- Different kind of video talking about building an arsenal to complement each other so that you can strike from every angle as the lanes transition from fresh oil to burn! Hope the thought process and SPECTO data help show why it's important to pick bowling balls that will match your game, the conditions you bowl on and the parts of the lane you typically play.

With the help of SPECTO data, it'll help tell the story about reaction shape, overall hook and continuation through the pins. Here are the SPECTO data points used and definition of each term:
Ball Speed - Speed measured off the hand.
Rev Rate - Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)
Launch Angle - The angle the ball traveled the first 10 feet.
Break Point Position - Board at which the ball was at its outermost position.
Total Hook - Total number of boards the ball crosses on the way to the pins.
Hook Power - Number of boards the ball hooked based on the True Breakpoint.
Entry Angle - The angle of the ball between 51 and 55 feet.
Impact Angle - The angle of the ball between 57 and 59.5 feet.
Pin Deck Exit - Ball position at the end of the pin deck.

With the equipment I had drilled over the past 15 months, I can count only on one hand how many times I got screwed on a 7-10 split. That is a good thing. You always bowl against that. And I am a novice. Thank god for that. Do NOT make that a habit.

A year late, but my arsenal is 3.0, Effect, Black Pearl Urethane.
That vibe is better then that black widow. He just throws the vibe a little faster and flatter to make it look weaker. The vibe is stronger then that black widow. That ball is obsolete. Compared to that radioactive vibe that's a GOAT BALL

Unless you’re extremely speed dominant, you probably don’t need 3 asymmetrical balls for your 3 ball arsenal. 👍🏻
Hi. Got into bowling almost 3 years ago. Still learning a lot. My pro shop got me into radical. I watch all the podcasts that come out with you and Phil. Trying to build an arsenal but need help. I have incognito pearl, counter attack solid, trailblazer solid, crypto solid, sneak attack pearl. Considering adding the vibe radioactive. What recommendations can you or anyone make? A 192 avg on his and 150 on sport shot. Want to improve my game. Thank you in advance.
Get more consistent with your release and targeting and invest in a spare ball. 40 pin difference on sport is telling me there’s a lot of spares being missed.
@brunsnick thank you for that advice. I do have a spare ball but it's a AMF 3 white dot rubber ball. Does that make a difference to a polyester ball?

In my experience, RAW Hybrid. The Radioactive Vibe hooks a lot more for me.

RAW still. Dark Web Hybrid is not for drier lanes, the cover is pretty strong.

This vid was exactly what a lot of bowlers want to see with arsenal building and understanding what ball to throw when. Awesome job Nick. For a little different look in Hammer, maybe…Hammer Envy Tour, 3-D Offset Attack and Raw Hammer pearl.
I currently have a 3 ball arsenal of hammer products. I have a hammer obsession tour solid for fresh and straight from 5 to 12 a black widow 2.0 to play the transition from 7 to 15 or to get left of 15. And a purple hammer for spares and tight lanes if my obsession tour isn't doing well down lane. All drilled with the pin above ring finger.
I find all of your videos very informative. My current three ball arsenal is Optium idol as the bench ball. The Brunswick Vaporize has been a great ball for me with transition. The Storm IQ Ruby is my weakest in my bag. Thanks Nick.
I still love having the Hammer Redemption Pearl. I bought 4 of them. Should be good for the next 15 years.
Here is my three I currently use. Hammer Scorpion, Hammer Obsession Tour Pearl, and Hammer Raw Hybrid. Scorpion to start on the fresh. Obsession Tour Pearl is everything after the the first three games on the fresh. And the Raw Hybrid when I don’t feel like hooking the entire lane. I’m looking to add a Purple Hammer and a strong solid asymmetrical eventually.

Radioactive Vibe: Reactive Solid. Ocean Vibe: Reactive Pearl and my Purple Hammer: Urethane. Right now I have two of those I use along with my Black Venom. Looking forward to the arrival of my new Radioactive Vibe. And of course my White Mix for a spare ball. My Ocean Vibe is the most valuable ball in my arsenal. I also have the USA Hustle and Raw Hammer Black Solid. But when all else fails, I can always find a line to roll my Ocean Vibe. I am hoping the same for the Radioactive. I can't wait.

Currently, black widow 2.0 hybrid, track kinetic cobalt and i have aGB4 solid but im on the fense for a 3rd ball.
Mine..Either BW Ghost Pearl or BW 2.0 Hybrid, Dark Web, and Black Pearl or Purple. (If I was in a heavy oil or league I would most likely start With Extreme Envy) ..Why, because I like how each ball moves and can be uaed straight angles. Or up to nose like Dino C. did

Like this format. Awesome to hear the logic and see the results. Good lessons too... I totally need to watch the ball through the pins more. I'll need a slow motion zoom camera to do that but that's doable, lol. I just built an arsenal with another Brunswick brand but wasn't really sure when to use what... This helped a lot!

With the release of new Hammer balls what would be your choices for a new Hammer arsenal?
Thanks for your insight. I just got reinvigorated into bowling after my PSO got me into a Venom Shock. Since, my average has went from 140 to 165-170 with more games in the 200s than ever. Not wanting to be brand specific, I was gonna pair it with a Hammer Hazmat and a Storm Absolute. My 3 ball Arsenal is very similar to this Hammet Arsenal so it makes me happy I'm on a similar pattern;)
My three ball hammer line up is currently 2.0 window, black and orange hybrid raw, and the axe for spares. But looking to replace the raw as i am not as accurate with it feels like it doesnt come back enough. Suggestions?
Sounds like you may be more speed dominant and might not see enough dry to get to the RAW. Might be a good idea to bring the surface duller with a 2000 pad to help it be more controllable.

1. short pin 1-2”
2. Locator pin on Val.
3. Locator pin under palm.
Preferred asymmetrical balls.

Asymmetric balls use their power to get down lane. Symmetrical balls store their power to hook. Most right handers need asymmetric cuz their side is burned
Asyms have a quicker hook window creating more angle at the break. Syms have a longer hook window offering more continuation usually but the length of either will almost always be dictated by coverstock strength.
@@brunsnick in a lefty so I trust asymmetric on house shots and prefer symmetric balls. I usually never need the help that asymmetric provide lol

This was great. This was the three ball arsenal that I was looking for. Just not sure I am ready to do it. I have been throwing storm products last five to ten years but have always wanted to go back to hammer. Just have a few too many new storm products that are less than a year old so kinda stuck between a rock and hard place

Hey I just want to say I love storm products as well! But I branched out to try different products. I have 10-15 spi bowling balls. And I have to say the 2 best balls I’ve ever thrown are the 2.0 hybrid and the motiv venom shock. My 1-2 punch in league. With the 900 global burner Pearl as my 3rd ball.

Can go either way but if it’s fresh I’m going with more flare.

My current aresnal...Purple Hammer, Black Widow Hybrid and Black widow Ghost pearl. Or just use Purple Hammer til the wheels fall off lol

It would replace the Radioactive really.
Where I bowl league they flood the middle and I rarely get down to something like a radioactive vibe. I'd probably put a Crypto boom in that spot if I'm picking something from the B7 line.

Right now I use an Ebonite The One Remix, Hammer Black Widow 2.0 Hybrid, and a 2021 Hammer Web Pearl. I’ve got plenty of other balls at my disposal and I may sub in the Hammer Purple Solid Reactive over the Web Pearl.

Great vid. I am fairly new to bowling, well serious bowling i mean lol. I throw 2 finger, but want to switch to a 3 finger grip. Do you have any vids on why you drill yours like you do? I threw a mechanics ball (kinda close to my fingers) and couldnt really make it spin. BUT I want a new ball thats a lot stronger than my current ball (brunswic twist) for the lower rate ill be getting. No one around me has any good pro shops or teachers. Just youtube vids for now lol. I am decent now (180 ish ave) but should be better. I cant bend over for 2 handed.

My 3 ball arsenal is Envy tour, purple hammer urethane, purple hammer reactive. Looking to switch the reactive with that new vibe?
It would be sharper than Purple and give a more distinct difference between the Envy Tour.
If I was to use an all Hammer lineup for league it would be a dark web, black widow ghost and a raw pearl. For tournament, it would be an obsession tour, black widow hybrid and a purple hammer

I am an old school left handed stroker from Earl Anthony days. I like to shot straight down the lanes if all possible. Starting to the left of center dot and up between 5 and 10 boards. For league I am thinking Idol Cosmos, Radioactive Vibe and a Hustle Camo. For tournaments will add 2 Asyms in Black Widow 2.0 and a UC2. Though this does include a spare ball so guess its really a 4 ball and 6 ball for tournaments.
I have a hammer statement solid pin under bridge mb kicked out away from thumb with fresh resurface of 2000 grit , Brunswick classic black quantum pin above ring finger at 3000 grit abralon , and a storm black spare ball ( but is a dark gold sparkle color ) . And all 3 have sarge Easter grip that in a week or 2 will go practice with so I am ready for the Dave husted pro am on August 18th on a typical house shot .( What squad not sure 1pm or 7 pm not sure )

Depends. If you’re speed dominant, then yes.
I use the Scorpion Hybrid, Scorpion Sting and the UC3. I usually start playing fairly straight with the UC3 then move left with the Hybrid and move left again in game 3 with the Sting.

i have a 6 ball hammer setup. ax, purple urethane, purple reactive, raw smoke, ocean vibe, ghost, 3d offset attack. i have a radioactive, a 2.0 , and a dark on standby.
Just picked up a widow 2.0 hybrid (finally!) To go with my ocean vibe and good ol GB3 black and blue. This vid was right on time as I try and slot the widow into my current lineup!
rewatching things, had an ah ha moment thanks to a great local coach too, i used to go strong ball to light......was really throwing hard by the end of the night. last 3 nights at league went hustle, cuda, attention red, what a difference it made some of the easiest bowling i have had. by the end of the night i was just throwing... shot 3-700 in 3 days of league. changed everything for me. thanks so much.

I can see why the BW2 & DW hybrids are so good together; they share the same coverstock. If you like one, more than likely, you will like the other, with the cores being different enough to give separation in motion. Thank you for the vids.

I got a torn rotator cuff. I dropped down from a 14 to a 12:00. I usually throw 13s anyhow man that radioactive vibes with a 12 lb ball man I am killing them with a 12 lb ball. They were laughing. What do you think? Coach, great content. Keep up the good work
If it works it works! Keeping control of the ball and maintaining speed/revs is key. If it takes a lighter ball to do it, so be it. Heavier ball won’t strike more if it’s thrown slower and with less control/revs.
What about surface considerations? I carry more than 3, but my Hammers are the Envy Tour, Web Tour that is smoother than the 1000 box, and the reactive Black Widow Pink.
Surface is important and I may do a follow up video in the future. These videos will focus on ball selection and choosing by the characteristics of the ball.

Envy Tour would be your control mid ball, offset attack the skid flip up top and RAW for dry lanes. Might have a big gap in there but you’ll have to test and see for sure. Everyone is different.

What does it mean when you leave the 9 pin alot?
Ball is coming in high flush and creating a lot of angle at impact hooking through the pins. Make a small move inside to find a little more oil before the 9 pin turns into a big 4 on the next shot.
@@brunsnick never had that happen.. Big 4..... Just leaving the 9.... Left over 80 9 pins last year that i bowled in one league. Made a board left adjustment.. Fixed the issue for a bit.. But later still left the 9 again. Didn't matter the ball, lane condition, drilling... Still left them

How would you describe the black widow ghost pearl? It doesn’t feel particularly skid flippy so I use it for transition but then it can be too aggressive. Trying to figure out my arsenal a bit better but can’t wrap my head around it
It’s more of a skid arc compared to the Hybrid 2.0. With more surface it could be the smoother stronger ball in the bag.

It could be, always best to check with your pro shop that watches you bowl. There may or may not be a need for a high performance asym like the Black Widow Hybrid with lower ball speed.

As far as I know, the new rule only applies to PBA. Still completely legal to use in all USBC competition.
