I was stuck at the bottom of A rank in Grandblue and now I hit S rank. I realized that I climbed up so fast in less than an hour. I do care about the rank and sometimes I'm just not as good as I perceive myself to be but im also not as bad as i think i am sometimes. That climb up to S rank showed me how much I actually improved when for the last few weeks I felt like I was getting worse. Its just something that a lot of us don't see during the journey to improving.

I think something that's helped me a lot even more so with fighting games is finding a community to actually play with. It changes the whole mood when you're just looking at a name on a screen to when you're in a call with them or sitting right next to them. For some reason im WAY less angry when i do something wrong in a match if im just chilling with the other person or persons.

You're right. I do care about my rank. I'd like to say I wish I didn't, but I'm not sure that's true either. I care about my rank, and I want to care about it.
Ultimately, though, what I really need is acceptance. Yes, I care about my rank, but I also need to accept that I move at my own pace and that, currently, I'm at where I'm at. Thanks for the video and the clarity.

These type of videos really help me. Not just at the game but like... in life. This is a really good way of viewing things in generell and I feel like you just need to get remembered every once in a while that you can fix things that arent going your way yourself

i've been thinking my inconsistency might just be to do with tiredness. Notice that a lot of streamers will take weekends off the game entirely just to relax

The idea of 'getting in your own way' is really interesting. I'm reading "The Inner Game of Tennis" at the moment and it talks a lot about how our subconscious selves know so much about our game intuitively (assuming we've put in the work and practice) and that a lot of playing your best is getting your conscious/critical inner self to back off and let the subconscious do its thing.
I think you'd like the book based on the kind of stuff you talk about on your channel.
My biggest takeaway from it is to look at your performance non-judgementally -- and that that means not as bad OR good. (Because if we say to ourselves, 'I whiff punished well there', we immediately create the possibility that we might not do it so well another time.)
I've been trying to look at my recent games this way -- not whether I played well or badly, but just 'what happened?' Did I get hit a lot in neutral? Why? Did my opponent keep using a particular string? Maybe I should lab the punish. Did King throw me five times in one round? Let's do some throw break training. It's early days, but it's helping me focus more on specific things I can work on rather than just whether I'm playing 'bad' or 'good' today -- because I can't really control that =) I just have to put in the work and see what happens.
    Great video!

BRO LEGIT meditation is extremely useful for games like Tekken, you train your mind to be calm even in irritating situations.

it's mindset if you rly wanna be consistant then you have to understand that every fight is a chance and as somone growing up in foreign country you develop the mentality that chances are not every day giving to you, so the only thing you can do is be ready when there is a chance so use every trick in your book to win

As a person HARD stuck in Plat in SF5 throughout the whole games relevancy, i told myself not to care about rank in SF6 and have fun like i did when i was young with my friends.
Now i just play for fun and never touched rank in SF6. I play mostly battle lounge and Avatar battles.
    Couldn't be happier. Even if i go 10 - 0 agaisnt a opponent or 0 -10 against me. I love it.

I've never cared about rank so I can't say much about overcoming such concerns. I can say that in a game genre where there is only one winner and one loser per game I tend not to concern myself with the end results. I do tend to measure my abilities by the amount of skill and consistency it takes for my opponent to beat me. I care slightly less about matches I win as there was less to learn from it. As a result I appreciate the people who should get me tilted. The match itself is why I play. The rest is just numbers. Do you enjoy what you are playing when you lose? If not then you spent money to torture yourself. As I see it you always win if you're having fun.

I legitimately did not get berrer till i stopped caring about my rank. I hit master just from teying to self improve rather than proving to myself that i am better than my opponent. I focused on learning how to stop them rather then trying to win.
I habe learned thay losing isn't that bad
What is bad is not getting to play or not knowing why exactly im losing.
After that the games became way more fun

bruh... that journal entry is like a copy & paste of my thoughts. I truly want to lose myself in something too, work is tough and it's nice to have something to look forward to... but those shitty thoughts about ranked LP prevents any of that

I care too much about my rank about how performing bad sucks. I don't know why, I win like one game or two and I'm like "I should stop before I start losing" I wish I could get rid of that feeling, I wanna spend hours playing these games without feeling like that. It sucks, I love fighting games, but my anxiety prevents me from played them as much as I want.
It's weird since when I was younger I would get back home from school and play Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate online on the OG xbox for hours (Showing my age... lol) without caring. I have no idea what changed me.

Caring about ranked genuinely spoils my ability to just enjoy the games. My Lily is sat in plat 2 in SV6 because I find the matches way more tilting and it makes me play impatient and sloppy so my ranked section of playtime is barely visible on the pie chart. I spend most of my time in battle hub Which is a huge mixed bag but I'd rather do that and play stronger players than ranked.
Tekken 8 is already looking the same, I really like Reina and Asuka but there's so much frustrating stuff to deal with that I'm spending most of launch week watching other people play on twitch.

Anything over warrior rank is good enough for me. Life and work brings enough stress. Why would I let a video game add to it? Everyone should have fun and kick some ass. Gaming should be an escape.

I improved a lot in SF6 after like dedicating to a regiment. I have hit a wall of sorts. But I still play and the wall doesn't bother me. The rank doesn't bother me. But I'm so close to Master that it feels like I'm wasting my time and I should go for it but should I care to go for it?
I can't focus on anything really because of several things in my life that makes me wonder why we even here?

I think getting a new rank is fun but honestly i mostly care about getting better, ive decided to main dragunov, started with hwoarang but hes a little tedious, i have about 200 hours in T7 but really didn’t learn much so m basically a noob, im watching jdcr play dragunov he will be my guide to get good, the ranks will come. I was warrior in T7 then gave up, im assailant already and ive beaten red ranks but all ive been doing is grinding every part of the game and trying to emulate jdcr, its fun, rank isnt as meaningful as people think, if i can beat red ranks and in T7 i beat high blues and even a tekken god what does it really mean, it means you grind ranked and are decent at the game, pros will still destroy us all😂

  • @zhenyaloginov

    I don't, I just play the game
But I also play Strive. It has two ranks: celestial and not celestial. 3,6% of the players are in celestial. So you have no reason to think about something that unreachable unless you play better than 96%
Getting from any of the 10 floors to another is as easy as winning 5-6 games in a row. So getting promoted and demoted is not a big deal. I guess. Enough people are playing on higher floors than their suggested floors. So they actually have lower rank than they really are. Never seen any people cherishing their floor like they do with ranks in SF
