    Yo dude you have no idea how much I can relate to what you said. Find myself being too passive and reacting to what my opponent is going to do especially with Cammy n Kimberly (my mains) I want to change that mindset instead of trying to copy what I see. Amazing video man

    This is my first fighting game ever. And I have really gravitated towards Zangief. I have tried most of the cast quite a bit, but gief seems to be the only character that really makes me smile when playing with him. I think your so right Andy, its important to play the character that makes sense for you as a player.

    i feel like sf6 is kind of limiting in terms of how you can develop an individual playstyle tbh. drive system kind of just makes everyone play their character the same way and it even makes different characters feel pretty same-y imo.
    that’s probably my biggest gripe with the game but hopefully things feel more fresh in another year or two with more characters and system mechanics.

      I think it takes a lot of skill to really individualize a character, just from watching high level play its pretty distinctive at times like MenaRD having probably the most unique Blanka that nobody is ready for and ironically it's because he has so much mobility without drive rush. I do agree DR combos for instance are very typical and limit the flavor you see. But I think a lot of quick okizeme set ups can get pretty interesting at a high level depending on the character. That's about it though 😂 maybe if they introduce weirder drive rushes and impacts for the future? Like DI into the air or a DR that can change the speed they go idk. Those ideas are broken but there could be something.

    I wanna note that the following post is a response concept of playstyles, more so than the video content itself.
    I remember this quote from a pro player long ago about playstyles: Try NOT to have one.
    For years I struggled to understand why someone would say something like that. Many years later I understand the meaning behind this: to define how you play in a playstyle is to become predictable. the higher up in ability you go the more likely people are to figure out your habits and go to options in various situations. Regardless of your strengths it pays NOT to develop a playstyle or push towards one, simply because the moment someone realizes what you are comfortable doing, they have an answer for this.
    I'm not sharing this to chastise you for your journey, not to be preachy, but what I do know is tightening up your play or getting better at aspects of the game are worth doing, but be weary of hyperfixating in any one area because this is when you introduce weaknesses in your gameplay.

    Hope you plan to stream soon. Whether its SF6 or Tekken 8 I really enjoy the vibe you give. The plateau video was something I really needed to hear. I'm slowly trying to get over my ranked anxiety and focus on improving thanks to you.

    It is indeed hard to develop a playstyle, but outside of the obvious, i think the best way to start expressing yourself is to loose fear of the things you do and have faith on not only yourself and the character, but also on your buttons. I try and put myself at a decent range and assume every attack is going to land, regardless of if they block or not.

    I definitely liked playing sf6 again after the small changes, it feels good to not run into the same 4 characters but now it's like the same 6 or 7 characters 😂
    I never watched replays in SF6 and I really need to 💀

    One thing I’ve learned is you don’t get rewarded for playing passive as much in this game. Just play your game and fill in the cracks by making good decisions

    One thing that really helped me alot is really asking myself why I lost (a match) and just trying to take mental notes as I play. It's so easy to fall victim to autopilot and just go with the flow but in my opinion the best practice is the active one. The one where your games (win or lose) become a direction to what you gotta change and stuff. Also it trains you to be more mindful of what you do and allows you to adapt in shorter sets better. Writing this because I also used to just kinda play, rely on mechanical stuff and hoping that my brain will just figure it out.
    One more thing is that you can more easily see when you gotta take a break. When your brain just stops thinking during games and you just ride on AP

    I think this is a really good idea and as someone who has always struggled with my like, gaming identity (This feels silly to even type) I often find myself in character crisis in fighting game, and even struggling to pick classes/characters/roles for single player games so maybe looking back at replays would be a helpful way to see what works for me and what doesn't. I told my brother once that I just needed Sagat in 6 cause I play so patient grounded zoner and he was like "you play like a nutcase and all you do is run and jump directly at the other person" so what's in our head may not be what we're actually doing lol I dunno
    On a less useful note, when you listed off your Sf5 mains the first thing I thought was "Blonde girls" lol

    That's easy:
    Step 1: Pick a character no one plays
    Step 2: Play them wrong
    Step 3: Profit

    Good stuff dude. I recently revamped the way I'm playing the game as well, it's much more fun.
    And I can see myself improving too, just hit Plat 3, diamond soon come

    I'm going through a similar thing in Tekken. What's helping is understanding what the character is really good at (which pros usually have optimized), and finding out what FEELS really good to pull off when playing.
    Then the biggest chunk is finding the moves and strategies that get me to land moves I like pulling off, against different types of opponents and matchups.
    I'm not sure the degree of player expression in SF6, but the discovery process itself has been just as fun as matches. And I've never been a lab guy.

      I struggle with t8 in that regard, it feels like every char just plays rushdown/ enforcing plus frames.

    • @Deltaclaw
      @Deltaclaw 3 місяці тому

      It seems that way, mostly because the heat system enables that playstyle which wasnt viable before at high levels (still isn't but to a lesser extent). Most characters still have their gameplay identity intact under all the aggression people like to play

    • @newphonewhodis7152

      @@Deltaclaw do you know of any characters in T8 which strengths would be a defensive/Punishing kind of playstyle?

    • @Deltaclaw
      @Deltaclaw 3 місяці тому +1

      @@newphonewhodis7152 yeah, Feng, Leo, Jack, Lee, and Bryan come to mind for solid characters that can succeed with a conventional defensive playstyle. Jin, Kazuya, and Shaheen also work.
      That said, I wouldn't recommend having a gameplan of just blocking mix ups and punishing. There are just way too many options to open you up. Its more like, solid defense better allows you to run your own gameplan.
      You can also be defensive through movement and evasive attacks. Alisa, Xiaoyu, Zafina, Lili I would say in this category.
      Then there are characters with parries or defensive attacks that disrupt the opponent offense. Leroy, Asuka, Jun, Raven, Yoshimitsu would be the prime examples.
      A lot of the characters actually fall under multiple categories but that would be the start I'd say.
