Roger what reels do you recommend please. I've always been an Alvey guy on the beach but I really like the Shimano carbon rods because I can cast further and therefore I think there must be a better reel. I love Shimano products, all Shimano for trout lures. GLoomus, Fenn and Sage fly fishing.

I once tried to fish for whiting in that exact same spot, and some guy in a kayak nearly drowned when he got smashed against the rocks. I had to get the folks from 000 out to help. By the time it was all over, the ocean had washed a whole heap of line off my reel (because I didn't get a chance to reel in!) and it was just a mess - I just gave up. What a day that was!
Awesome video Roger, I fish local at narrabeen for whiting too, so nice seeing you fishing at a familiar beach, love the comment about South Africans going neck deep to cast😂, I can confirm, this is a thing🇿🇦. Keep up the good video's and hopefully see you on the beach. God bless
Nice whiting there. Always good fishing along some of the Northern Beaches. Fished with Col once many years a go and some German guy called Hank I think. But over the years have mastered the whiting. Northern Beaches and Central Coast NSW.
Thanks mate! Also, there is someone impersonating my channel who replied to you earlier. I have since blocked them but I hope you ignored them. Cheers!
Hi Roger. I been to Narrabeen a few times. Never caught anything haha😂 tried to catch a few beach worms there tonight but waves were having it but I rewatched your working video and gonna give it another crack next time.
Also saw another fisherman use live bait and normal bait. Fishes were only taking the live bait pretty much straight as he cast. Any ideas what live bait he would be using?
I love your videos, and the way you explain all the details. Unfortunately that only pertains to your area in southern Australia, but not here in Florida. Right now we are expecting record-breaking areas of seaweed and red tide. There goes the fishing.
@@RogerOsborneFishing thank you for replying. I live in south eastern Florida, where there are many species of fish to catch. I am usually targeting pompano, whiting and snook, and whatever other fish are present.
I ran the video between 0:50 to 1:20 and found it looks to be starting from your main line: 1. 3 way swivel 2. The part sticking out to probably roughly 20cm of leader into a long shank hook 3. other end of the swivel running down with a leader probably 50cm-ish+ so the first long shank hook never touches the bottom of your bottom swivel 4. a ball sinker connecting to this leader line into a regular 2 way swivel to stop ball sinker from reaching bottom hook. 5. A leader of roughly another 20cm that ends with a long shank hook. An FYI, if you find the parts confusing and dont want to spend extra money on the swivels, you're much better off learning the paternoster rig, common with fishing that uses 2 hooks+.
Awesome fishing guys. But I couldn't believe it when Lorrie tried to release a small whiting and it had swallowed the hook so he cut the trace and let the go.😂😂😂
Hi great video, I live on the northern beaches and I normally go to Narrabeen fish once a week what’s the best place to catch the worms want to start? I’m not sure which beach to go to live in Warriewood where did you get yours? Thanks
@@RogerOsborneFishing ok thanks Rodger love those surf fishing videos have you tried salting your pilchards I do all the time they are really firm and stay on the hook better 😊

Hi Roger, I fish local to Narrabeen and have been watching your videos to try and learn to catch flathead. I actually learnt to catch mullet with your exact technique and caught a large number of them today (Thank you). I set up a rig and was casting all day in the lagoon close to the caravan park with the mullet to no success. Could the families swimming around and kayak traffic have been the reason I failed? I was wading all around in weed beds, deep drop offs and caught no flathead while I had no issues with my other rig hooking up whiting all day with worms.

Gotta love how old mate suddenly moved in once a couple of good fish hit the sand. To your credit though, Roger, you remained polite and respectful.
That happened to me while at Stockton. 32km long beach with nobody else there, and they had to fish right next to me
Ol'mate was there first.

Good vid roger you had to go back up north to get em few around home to keep up the good work mate.👍😀
Beat me to it. Shouldn't be worried about getting wet 😊. Should be worried about waves though. They can always surprise.
Legend. A doubler.
I like the rocky and bullwinkle reference

How come you chose a ball sinker here ? Thanks for all your free content on UA-cam - been learning a lot !

Did you get a look at the live bait?
@@RogerOsborneFishing unfortunately no. Didn’t want to invade their space 😂
Great video
i like exprient old man..good jobs sirr
Interesting session, cutting the line and letting the little whiting go, to me, is a good case for fishing with barbless hooks 😃
when fishing with a size #4 bait holder hook, 80% of the fish you catch will be gut hooked
I use circle hooks so that the fish don't swallow the hook. How about a test between the worm hook you use and the circle hook?
Great video . What braid and leader were using rodger ?? And what size spool ?? 6000 ?
Great video mate. Just got my answer to your beach location 😊
Awesome thank you!
Hey roger what is that rod your using
Wanted to ask the same question. Hopefully Roger will respond
check the description on videos more

Hi Roger love your video's And techniques iam trying my best to follow your style but I think iam still doing some things wrong
Don't give up buddy
Hey Roger! I assume you’d get whiting all the way up to Collaroy as well?
Yes definitely
Sitting at narrabeen beach right now watching this ,,, just caught fresh bait ,, yakkas ,,, hoping for a flathead in exchange
Sounds great Benny
The guy who greeted u,, i think he had he’s own fishing show on 7mate
Don't think so as far as I know
Hi Roger, are you related to Jake Osborne from Port Lincoln?
Hi Colossal, I don't think so
Roger, for the keepers do they just go in the bucket or do you dispatch them first?
It varies depending on what's happening
Awesome fishing guys.
But I couldn't believe it when Lorrie tried to release a small whiting and it had swallowed the hook so he cut the trace and let the go.😂😂😂
Love the videos Roger. Went to this spot today and there were 2 other guys there because of this video also 😂 👌
So Good thanks guys,
Can you cryovac those worms and post them to WA please. 😂
Hi mate, I am sure they would work over there!
Great double catch! Do surfers mind if you fish
They don't mind. We all respect each other
Hi great video, I live on the northern beaches and I normally go to Narrabeen fish once a week what’s the best place to catch the worms want to start? I’m not sure which beach to go to live in Warriewood where did you get yours? Thanks
Those worms were caught at Wariewood but you can catch them on most of the northern beaches
❤helpful.
Why you Aussie anglers put the reel handle on the right? Is that because your cars have the steering wheel on the right too?😁
Narribeen lake is another option there
Surfers taking risk , for there would be sharks there ,,
The occasional shark is seen but no attacks in my lifetime
HI Roger, we see a fair bit of beach fishing that you love , but do you use the double hook rig while fishing in the boat for whiting ??
Cheers Chris
I just purchased a Aeroo fishing drone full package sells for $699- bargain
Nice!! Have you tried it out yet?
