For anyone searching the comments for a solution: I jammed my finger 3 months ago. It was not broken but clearly sprained. I was told I had partial tearing of the collateral ligaments. The joints of the finger are extremely delicate and not very forgiving of injury, it turns out. Three months later, I still have some swelling and soreness, and my range of motion is still not back to normal (yet). I am seeing a hand therapist, who gives me exercises to do at home for the best recovery. You need to also massage the joint 4-6 times a day in order to break up the scar tissue. Many times, your finger will be permanently thickened. My PIP (middle) joint is quite thick on the injured finger compared to the rest of my fingers. It is advised to wait a full year to see what the final size of the finger will be. I highly recommend physical therapy for anyone with this injury.
I jammed my finger in the dumbest way possible. I tried to imitate someone from The Amazing World Of Gumball, and then when I flew one of my hands down it hit the other hand by accident. It bent my finger back extremely fast, which ultimately jammed my finger. It still hurts since that was yesterday, but it is funny.
Just came to see how i could do exactly this. 20 plus years ago i injured it. Now a few times each year it feels like it just happened . Pulling on it .... Eureka !! Now i know the way to stop this pain producing situation . Thank you so much.
Thank you for posting this video. I fell just about 2 weeks ago and jammed my finger. It bruised up pretty much right away. I also hit my right knee, and in addition to that, I hit my head on the ground. I went to the hospital and got everything checked out, everything came back clear from the Xrays, and the MRI. My right index finger is still bothering me, but it is doing better. I am having to buddy tape my right index finger and middle finger together in addition to working on getting the dexterity back in my finger. I plan to use the exercises shown in the video to help with my recovery.

Dear Sirs, I have been using this technique all my life on a number of my joints. Not only when I've 'jammed' them but also everyday to release the pain of what I believe to be arthritis. I have hypermobility and my thumbs, hips and ankles sublax (?) often, but I have never had to see a doctor for this because I learned for myself the technique that you explain here. Thank you so much for helping me to understand what is happening, and that what I do about it is correct xxx p.s. I do not need to use ice because my body hardly ever swells.

lol I kept playing for another 3 hours with the jammed finger and just ended up playing the rest of the hour with 1 hand (basketball), and it still hurts a little a week later lol.
Thank for this wonderful demonstration!!! I jammed my pinky finger in February...Told my primary care giver and she suggested that i put it in a finger splint...i did this but i would come off during the night. Finally in April she sent me to have it x-ray and it was said that it waz jammed and was referred to an Orthopedic doctor...who also x-rayed my finger and referred me to physical therapy...the physical therapist did the exact same thing as this demonstration did.Now in order to continue the therapy...i have to have it approved by my insurance...in which i was told could be weeks. I'm getting some results from the watching the video!!! Thanks You So Very, Very Much🙏😇🙏.
Jammed my thumb 10 years ago and it's never been the same compared to my other. Thankfully the pain is gone now just have a cracking noise when I bend in and out. If I extend both thumbs far as I can it feels like tighter in the injured thumb and and slight a bit of pain. This is my jammed thumb story 😅
This works! Jammed my pinky in December. Not bruised, able to move, as described. But pain when bending all the way. Loss of about 20% of mobility. Very distinct pain when beinding sideways in one direction but not the other, as described. It is now March. Did this exercise. INSTANTLY better. Not 100% better, but about as much progress as I've been getting in any 10 day period or so over the past few months. I plan to do it once a day for a while and see how it goes. But just a dozen bends as prescribed and it helped tremendously first shot. And I can measure this fairly accurately because I use popping a pen cap off while holding the pen with one hand as my mobility exercise (you'd be surprised how much that simple move uses the pinky), and it was much less painful just now. Much thanks!
@@chubbypuppy8547 Thanks for asking. It is now a month later. Continues to get much better. I use this technique a few times a week. But this last month it has been getting better at a rate that is higher than the prior months, so I would have to think it's contibuting. And when it comes to any recovery, everything that helps is good.
@@anukaran2361 Didn't use a stick to splint it at any point. I did gently wrap it together with the ring finger just so it wouldn't get hit by various things throughout the day. Hi guys, I need some advise.. my index finger was sprained since a week ago and now I don't feel pain anymore. I can move my finger like you did. But, my index finger (right hand) still bigger (looks like swelling) than my left hand . Should I do buddy tape like your demonstration?
Thank you :)
