I'm in my early 60s, and I just developed trigger finger a couple months ago. Didn't really notice it much at first, but then suddenly realized something wasn't right with my right hand ring finger not extending smoothly like all the other fingers. I had no idea what the problem was, and had never even heard of this condition before I started looking up my symptoms a few weeks ago. So this video is very timely for me! Thanks!

Thank you so much. Wow, once again, you are brilliant. I am 72 and this year I got trigger finger very badly in both hands. Both thumbs were the worst along with several other fingers on both hands in various degrees of pain and dysfunction. I no longer possessed opposable thumbs. Human beings are gifted with opposable thumbs and its what makes our species successful. Well, I did not have that feature even a tiny bit. I had to go to a hand specialist and I had a succession of wrist and finger splints and a steroid injections to start off. It was a long ordeal. I discovered on my own, that pressing on that area of my thumbs was painful but in a good way and when I stopped the pressing, I felt a warm surge of relief in that finger. I wish I had seen this video earlier, You two would have saved me several months of various splints and appointments.

Your older videos on trigger finger helped me tremendously. My trigger thumb disappeared and never came back. Like Brad, I have a recurrent problem with a middle finger. The techniques work well. I have recently discovered that in my sleep, I often put a hand under my head when side-lying, and when I wake up, I have a locked trigger finger, taking a while to get it loosened. I'm trying to figure out a comfortable way to prevent myself from doing that in my sleep. -- Thank y'all for your invaluable help in so many areas! Thanks so much for making this video. I was getting the trigger finger on my middle finger and my middle (2nd) knuckle is the one that has the arthritis and would give me the most pain so I also massaged and worked the tendon, not only in the first knuckle of the hand but also up to the middle knuckle and while compressing that I was able to bend my finger without getting stuck, with less and less pain the more I did it. I discovered that holding fairly tight pressure in the area just below the second or middle knuckle while flexing that finger gave me almost no pain from the arthritis that I normally feel, not sure why the compression helps me feel no pain in that middle knuckle during flexion ? Thank you again , you guys are the best. I’ll keep at it, but amazingly better after just one treatment.

I agree with your methods of releasing the trigger fingers but not why it happens, at least not in my situation. In my case it doesn't seem to be scar tissue but an intense inflammatory response to lectins and in particular to nightshade fruit skins and seeds. If I eat a whole tomato, I'll develop a trigger finger within one hour and painful foot arches. Keeping away from wheat, oats and tomatoes allows my body to work beautifully with no cramps, trigger fingers, tight muscles.

Mine has been getting progressively worse over the past couple of years. I had my hand X Ray'd by my Orthopedic Doctor a couple of weeks ago for my middle finger on my right hand, just like Brad's, however a week later the Ring Finger exhibited identical symptoms, but much worse, because my whole upper hand became swollen, inflamed and worse intermittent and constant throbbing pain that it even woke me up out of a deep sleep. I believe that I aggravated the Ring fing when I Graped a Cardboard Box weighing in about 60-70lbs I curled the edges of the box for a firm grip, which is my assessment of the cause for now the 2nd finger on my right hand to have Trigger Finger, getting stuck both open and bent down. The knuckles, joints and tissue in-between them are swollen and inflamed and likewise so is my upper hand as well. I have been using Voltaren Gell as prescribed by my Orthopedic and I also have some Oxy Rub and Insta-Flex from Healthy Directions that eases the pain and throbbing. I have been massaging the fingers, and areas that Brad specifically targeted on this Video and of course it helps, however I'm a Florist and I use my hands in many applications to "get er done"! Sometimes I've awakened only to find out that I laid/slept on my right hand, only to aggravate the swelling, throbbing, stiffness (position stuck bent down or not ableto bend the middleand ring fingers), and throbbing pain! There's a couple of options that my Orthopedic Doctor mentioned. I can get an injection of a Gel. Or I can get the Operation. There's good UA-cam videos that shows exactly the procedure of this Operation on the Hand and Fingers. Brad always does an Excellent job of explaining a treatment to mitigate the pain. I thank the Lord that He, Bob and Special Guests are here to guide us ordinary everyday people needing guidance to ease the pain and suffering. Thank you as always!

This summer I had shots for my trigger finger which offered no relied. Surgery was recommended, but now, I’m glad I wanted to think about it. I’ve massaged, but only rubbed it because of the discomfort. Now I know I can actually make a real difference.

😎MY best and SUCCESSFUL🎉method was wearing a finger while I was sleeping. In one hand it took 3weeks, on the other 6weeks, but it immediately improved after the first night
Personally had this‼️ Got it evaluated after started affecting my middle and index. The Doctor immediately tried to schedule surgery like a high pressure sale. (I said NO) and started the message shown here, but every morning was the worst, which is why I thought of a splint to avoid the worst of it. It ended up curing it.

I think this will help me. I had a broken elbow and the splint around my hand seemed to make this weird action in my ring finger. Maybe this is is it.
I have been in pt for the elbow over 4 months and heard a nearby therapist tell her patient about the “pulley” in her finger, so your description rang a bell.

I have to slide an ice pack edge between my trigger finger and palm, over the knuckle, and hold it there for a few minutes, before I can get enough space to massage it. I think I am getting a lot of inflamation, and so this reduces a bit of the swelling. It is very painful. I once had my finger lock completely against my palm, flat and straight down. It looked very strange. It seemed that the tendon was dislocated off the bone, if that is possible.

Well that's ironic. I've been waiting three years or something for my ten second steroid injection appointment, and you upload this the day before the appointment xD My left ring finger seemed to go away on its own, atm my right ring finger locks up. I can deal with that, I find lifting the tip of the finger releases it without as much pain. It's the left index finger messing me up more, I can't close the finger anymore. They've been going on for years now, they get tiresome in ahurry

How about nutritional fixes? For the past 3 years plus, I have changed my diet, away from the Standard American Diet to a Ketogenic and now a Carnivore way of eating. I eliminated all grains, complex carbohydrates, like potatoes, beans and other starchy vegetables and all so called vegetable oils that are actually seed oils. In addition, I take Cod Liver oil and DHA/EPA Fish Oils daily and eat seafood, every other day. As a result, I have reduced my inflammatory Omega 6 fatty acids and increased the good Omega-3 fatty acids to a ratio of less than 4 to 1. Most people have a 20 to 1 ratio. 1 to 1 is ideal. The trigger finger in both ring fingers, that surgery was the only recommendation for, has completely disappeared. Previously I had gone through multiple therapy sessions and self massage and stretching without any improvement. Many joint and muscle issues are caused by improper nutrition and deficiencies.

I agree with the suggestions made. But I had a painful trigger finger which tormented me for a good year -- one so bad that simple hard massaging didn’t work. . After watching some videos of therapeutists using a rubber mallet and a chisel-looking tool on tight muscles, I had this idea of simply repeatedly hammering down the part of my palm where I felt the scar tissue was with a plastic rod that had a protrusion in the end. Ever so suddenly, my trigger finger was gone. Yes, just like that. I guess the hammering down broke the scar tissue (or whatever it was) effectively. You can hammer down on it with practically anything available.

Is it also considered Trigger Finger if the finger gets stuck in the straight position? My husband’s middle finger will get stuck if he has been working on woodwork projects or trying to fix smaller things.

I had a very severe case of trigger finger that constantly bothered me and locked my finger up. I was to the point of having surgery done. I saw a video on U-tube about 15-20 years ago where a young fellow swore by an over the counter drug called P-5-P. I felt that I had nothing to lose so I started taking it. My doctor laughed at me when I told him what I was doing. The trigger finger was totally gone within the year. I poke at him every year since than when I go in for my annual physical. I still take the P-5-P 3x per day. It is a small price to pay to be totally free from my finger locking up.

I used to get trigger finger in the middle finger. I finally realized that when I drank a lot of cow's milk it would come on. Since I've quit drinking any cow's milk I have not had a single incident of it. A coworker one day mentioned that her husband was having this issue and I told her about how it helped me to stop drinking cow's milk. Her husband tried it and it actually worked for him as well.
