Can't believe these amazing brothers was still singing to 1981.
Indeed!! They were legends in their own time;
And Donald sang until 1999
Thankfully that phase of the Mills Brothers' formidable legacy has been documented more than would be expected. They were so far ahead of the curve that they still set the standard of excellence nearly eighty years after the fact. The tragic and early passing of oldest brother John Junior (seen in the clip playing guitar) in 1936 was an immeasurable loss. Genius of the highest order.
He definitely was; influence on the likes of Les Paul (among others)--even if many didn't know/realize.
In their Prime with John Jr before ha passed away in 36
All this early footage of the Mills Brothers is amazing. Very entertaining. What a legacy they have left!
Outtakes from the Big Broadcast feature film.
Gosh, They were so young!

What an amazing look at the past. Mills brothers are simply the bests
Doc!
😆😆😆😆😆😆
Thank you for posting this, this early footage of the Mills Brothers shows just how incredibly talented these brothers were.
The recorded sound is great for 1933, especially Vincent Lopez's band! All the instruments were represented fairly well by the old microphones!
They enhanced the quality when they digitalized the film

I was just thinking, that's announcer Doc!
The amazing four boys and a guitar
I need to travel on the time..
And of course these were all numbers that were filmed for the feature "The Big Broadcast" but were either cut from the film or didn't make the final cut. It would be interesting to edit them back into the film.
Lopez's band is borderline swing here.
golden
Puedo estar dia y noche escuchando a estos grandiosos hermanos Mills
0:35 He's DOC!!!! :D from SNOW WHITE :)
They don’t make on like this anymore
Would someone please name for me the four brothers from left to right of screen?
Herbert, Donald, Harry and John if I'm not mistaken.
@@granusko1 Thanks.
@@granusko1 yes you are correct
All of the performers stellar. The drummer from Vincent Lopez’ band was stealing the show.
God isn't that announcer funny..... ha, ha.
I did not understand the constant fumbling. It got annoying. maybe i am missing something IDK
Chalk it up to the changing faces of what's considered 'humorous' through the years?
Completely agree, and if you’re gonna do it, #1 rule should be: don’t screw around with the performers names!
