I liked Village’s twist. Ethan doesn’t get a happy ending which sucks but I think it makes sense though. It’s why you keep hallucinating and it’s also how pouring liquid on your hand can let you recover from just about anything. Dimitrescu also hints that Ethan might not be human earlier in the game.
The original Infamous was so good. I, for one, actually liked the "Future Cole" twist...perfectly explains why Sasha was so obsessed with trying to kill you throughout the game.
The real stupid thing about the twist in Fallout 4 is that they had to turn Conrad into some sort of cyborg ninja to make it that he could have the same face after sixty years have passed JUST TO PRESERVE A TERRIBLE TWIST THAT SUCKS. If the sole survivor hadn't seen the face of the person who had done the kidnapping, then this additional wrinkle would not have been necessary and maybe the whole thing could have been done easier.
Heavy Rain could have worked if there was a way to have multiple possible Origami Killers. It feels like they game was originally designed this way, with Ethan's unexplained blackouts, Agent ARI Comment's drug addiction causing him to lose his grip, Maddison's...presence in the game in-general, but those are all just crappy red herrings in retrospect. If the killer was "made" through the player's choices, I think a lot more credit would've been given to how little sense the actual ending makes.
Having the killer's identity be determined by the player's actions would've made the game so much more interesting. I doubt it was ever the plan, though, I think those bits were just red herrings as you said, and it was always just going to be Shelby.
On my first playthrough after watching that scene, I thought that was the best cinematic scene I ever experienced. Then the twist was revealed and I was even more blown away lol. Y4 was my first one in the series when it hit psplus free years and years ago. Best download I ever made
Right?! I thought it was a good explanation as to how Ethan was able to repeatedly "survive" all that crazy damage he took and was able to keep reattaching his hand.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who got thoroughly annoyed at the Origami Killer twist. When I called it out as terrible writing in a Let's Play comment section, I got a lot of pushback. But I guess that's just the internet for you.
RE Village's twist was revealed by Evelyn, whose testimony as a master manipulator I found questionable at best. And given that he firstly had his own more-or-less original body under his complete control and secondly had his full mind, personality, family attachments, and real emotions fully intact, I find it hard to believe that having been reanimated makes him any less truly alive.
Sly 4: Thieves in Time. Bentley’s girlfriend Penelope turns evil/traitor for no legit reason other than a plot twist for the sake of a plot twist. Her true motives were meant to segue into a sequel that hasn’t happened….and probably won’t happen. Xx
I felt that actually made sense. She already appeared to have mental issues after becoming the Black Baron, so she probably ended up having a mental breakdown, thus becoming an antagonist.
Games spoiled in this video: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Fallout 4 God of War 3 Hitman Fable III Heavy Rain Infamous Resident Evil Village Bionic Commando Final Fantasy VIII
Thank you! Was looking for this. No point saying there's spoilers if you don't say for what because as soon as they come on screen they lead with the spoiler so you can't even avoid it!
FF8 was my favorite game growing up and it's way better if you accept the crazy parts and fan theories. For instance: Plot twist: Everything after the first disc was Squall's dying hallucination. Plot twist: Ultimecia is actually Rinoa all along.
the RE one makes sense though. It isn't 'you the player failed' that is justified. the in game lore/cut scenes show him injured far beyond reasonable. While most of the injuries are to his hands they would still cause insane blood loss, and a few others (falling from the sky/smashed with a giant hammer) would be downright fatal
Sometimes I really enjoy being simple-minded, because I almost never see the twists coming even when they're shoved in your face lol. The Fallout 4 and RE8 ones absolutely blasted me and SHOOK me and I loved it.
I liked Village's Twist. Actually made me feel sorry for Ethan and I later feel sorry for Rose, not being able to know her father after everything he did to save her. At least until her DLC came out. But I'll never forgive Ubisoft for killing off Lucy. I get that Kirsten Bell was probably expensive as an actress given her rising popularity, doubt the character would've existed much longer after Frozen came about but if they wanted to kill Lucy, at least have her go down in the blaze of glory fighting or killing Vidic and then die in Desmond's arms, not actually have Juno via Desmond's blade kill her unceremoniously.
I liked entry 8! Sure i wasnt a fan RE7 but still. Maybe its just because i was glad he was gone, but the final fight felt actually touching at time, and made me give a shit about Ethan for the first time
The only thing that rubbed me the wrong way about the GoW III hope is not the concept itself but the execution because only a few moments after he finds hope he commits suicide to stop Athena. I know it's a bit more complicated but I just can't help but look at the entire thing as Kratos thinking "after years of suffering I've finally found hope, so the first course of action with this new perspective on life is to kill myself I guess!"
I thought the twist at Danganropa 2 was ridiculous. I barely remember it now, but it was so bad it made me rage quit. Also, learning in Kingdom Hearts: II that the villain from the first game, Ansem, was the name of a wise king and that the actual villain’s name was Xehanort was pretty nutty, made even nuttier with how that revelation devolved throughout the series.
Probably missed the cut due to the SO game plots being sort of silly from the outset. (and I'm a fan fwiw.) Calling anything in those stories a twist would be over egging the pudding tbh.
@@frankbrodie5168 Maybe but that twist has made similar lists all over the internet. Honestly its probably one of the most notorious things about the franchise. Other than the 2nd one being the best.
@@HolyHadou I go back to TTEOT every couple of years at least. The entire ambience of the whole thing is just so beautiful. Arriving in Airyglyph for the first time is akin to that bit in Oblivion of first coming out of the caves at the beginning for me.

For a cheap plot twist Capcom assassinated the character of a longtime protagonist. That being Chris Redfield in RE8. “That’s not Mia.” Is all he needed to say in the opening scene, instead he behaves like a psychopath on a power trip. Expecting compliance from the man who’s wife was killed by Chris’ hands. It’s the worst thing in the storytelling of an otherwise great game. All for a cheap plot twist 🤦♂️.
Assassins creed has this really big issue with leaving the vast majority of the modern plot to outside soirces. Eg. Books, Comics, movies. If you follow the story by paying attention to all the different media then it does make sense and the twists all make sense but how mamy people are seriesly gonna read a 15 issue comic or 2 full novels showing the modern story between 2 games. Its annoying because i have been doing that recently and so much of the layer games "jump the shark" moments make sense and fit the story but if you just play the games then it seems like crazy desperate attempts to create shocks
Yeah, Fallout 4 script was a one big joke. When i saw main character's son whose name was "Father" i was laughing my ass off. After that i just finished main "storyline" and uninstalled the game.
Man, I usually agree with your lists but there's quite a few on this list I just cannot see eye to eye with you. Sad days. Some of what you said makes me actually question if really played the game or just read a synopsis or something. Strange stuff. Anyway, I still love you guys and can't wait for the next Weirdest Games Ever!!! ❤️
😡 Just put the game title at the beginning of each section, rather than saying what the twist is, then mentioning the game!!! It's such a stupid idea to do it the way you have here. 😡

So Ethan must learn how to survive, or be destroyed.
It's also quite obvious he was infected even back in 7.
The original Infamous was so good. I, for one, actually liked the "Future Cole" twist...perfectly explains why Sasha was so obsessed with trying to kill you throughout the game.
I'm with you on this... as far as time travel plot threads go, it's effective.

Came for Bionic Commando at #1, was not disappointed.
Why isn't Bioshock on this list? That was absolutely ludicrous.

Yakuza 4's rubber bullets twist should've made this list!
Haha! This would be cool if they use it once and not explain with it everything later xD

Wasn’t the first time Diana “betrayed” either, she did it as well in Blood Money
I actually thought the REVillage plot twist made complete sense. It actually explains everything about Ethan's survivability in RE7 and Village.
Right?! I thought it was a good explanation as to how Ethan was able to repeatedly "survive" all that crazy damage he took and was able to keep reattaching his hand.
A entirely agree, especially with Resident Evil's bonkers tone. It's perfectly in-keeping with it.

Showing my age here, but the ending for Monkey Island 2 baffled me in 1991.
The Phantom Pain. Plot twist? Half way through it turns out it’s totally unfinished and expects you to re-start from the beginning.
Wish you could've added a timestamp or a tiny teeny spoiler warning before each entry.
If Bionic Commando wasn't included, it would be insane. That's probably the most famous bad logic ever.
