    FYI I've bent 5/8" 303SS rod 90 deg on a Harbor Freight "44" Compact Bender" worked great.

    I understand that there's a "grain" (like wood has) to rolled sheet metal. Do you have to take that into consideration when bending sheet metal?

      The imparted bend is definitely cold working the metal.

    your bottom die doesnt have enough relief.
