You should have "made in USA" on it.
Is there a reason you were conventional milling the copper instead of climb?
Mastercam lead the way on the tool cut. I think it conventional mills for the lead in cut, then it switches to climb for the actual cut. The lead in cut was a full profile path with a 3 deg plung angle
I had a mold designed many years back to make around 200 parts, often wondered what happened to the mold. On the EDM how much do you have to allow for the tool ware as it burns the harder material in the mold? Should look into molding boxes for the Gridfinity 3Dprinted storage box system
I bet there'd actually be quite the market for gridfinity stuff. OR the 'not-quite-gridfinity' stuff that Clough42 did for some tooling organization a while ago
cool, I need to look into that stuff too.
For copper EDM tool, I only made the one for 24 burns. If it was graphit, then I would need to make ~3 or 4. I also allow a spark gap of ~100um. ( 004') Thanks for watching!
I need to work for yall lol
Thanks for watching!
Cool! Good luck with the sales. I've been on Amazon as a seller for 8 years now. There's good and bad, but it's mostly good.
Thanks for the good luck! I hope to have more products in the near future.
Looks like a deepwell plate, albeit with rather large wells. Usually they have 96 wells
Is it originally for bio/pharma application? That's what it looks like it would be for to me at first guess...
Sorry, I can't comment on the part's previous life, but thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!, yes you could probably use it for that too.
hate ondrive I had huge problems with it every time used didn't backup everything. then just messed up my whole pc. never use.
I am watching it very late and I want to thank you for your sincere effort. God bless you.
Good one
Hey, thanks for sharing your work. I am very inspired. I run a two man operation with five molding machines including one rotating platen machine. three powerjets and two nissei. we have about 10 3d printers that dont get used, other than the sls, one sprue picker, a cnc, an edm, and a cmm. All in 4000 sq feet. I wish i had your robots and experience, and cnc experience like yours. Thanks again for making these videos. I tried, but its difficult. Editing takes a long time.
@@revtechmfg wow, you sound to be just like me. The robots are pretty easy to pick up, you just need to start with simple slow tasks. I will be showing a lot more robot work soon
@@DragonflyEngineering i have one pc+abs insert with heat issus as well. have you ever made 3d printed metal inserts with cooling channels near the surface?
Nice work. These videos are good to watch. I maybe one of the last guys learning Toolmaking in Australia. I am lucky, the guys I work with are really switched on. Thanks for your efforts in making these videos.
Thanks for watching and stick with the tool making!
@@DragonflyEngineering Thanks. I bought a Hurco VM10i and have it in my shed. I have done a few jobs for where I work which is cool.
@ good move on getting your own cnc
Why would you not disassemble the entire mold to get all of the contamination out of the cooling passages, especially since it is an active product? Did you try acetone on the cured paint outside of the mold to see if it worked? I’m glad you didn’t blow yourself up with that electric pump. Interesting to see a fairly intricate mold. Thank you.
Hi Paul, It is mostly due to the discussion with the customer to minimize risk of taking appart parts that may not need to be. Thanks for watching.
This is cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching too
Super interesting to hear the process and all the details of the mold!
Thanks for atching Greg. More to come
Haven't watched the entire video to see if the paint comes out, but i have had to use harder stuff like MEK to remove crazy paints and masks.
Good point, I'm not sure if the aceton did the trick or not. I may try brake fluid too.
Nice deburring with the stone 😊💎

@@DieselRamcharger yes, seems to he the case, the rebar style bend was better

FYI I've bent 5/8" 303SS rod 90 deg on a Harbor Freight "44" Compact Bender" worked great.
@@funone8716 thanks for the tip
I understand that there's a "grain" (like wood has) to rolled sheet metal. Do you have to take that into consideration when bending sheet metal?
The imparted bend is definitely cold working the metal.
@@MrBmetz99 I don’t think so, but I am a beginner in sheet metal. Also, dont know the original origin. Thanks for watching!

Sounds great .
I worked for over 15 years in the plastics molding department at GE back in the 80’s and 90’s. I was the setup and can’t count the number of installs in did during that time. We did injection and thermoset molding. This video brought back memories from back in the day. Some of the equipment was from the 1940’s while most of our equipment was state of the art, modern presses. It was nice to see the advancements in equipment that have been made since our factory closed.

Hello, I am encountering an error when trying to import configuration XML files, with the message: “Object reference not set to an instance of an object.” Do you know what might be causing this issue?
Sounds like in your XML file there is a declaration of a object that is not assigned a value? Maybe look for another XML file? I am not very familiar with the software side
@@DragonflyEngineering I downloaded the XML files again from Beckhoff's official website to ensure their integrity. Anyway, thank you for your prompt response. Greetings from Argentina.

Neighbours suck sometime
Well, I don't think those rafters / roof will be going anywhere - they look pretty overbuilt! 2x8's or 2x10's or something? Wow! That's not a very long span, were those really necessary? It's not like you have snow load to worry about! Or are you going to put a lathe or something up there to really p'o the neighbors??
Well, it turns out that there was an additional 2” of a gap that was added on top of the original roof, so I had to upsize the 2x6 to 2x8 pluse 3/4 plywood on the one side. Thanks for watching!
@@DragonflyEngineering Oh, that makes sense. So were the rafters in the existing side also super beefy and upsized? I can see why you'd have to match that to get the roof deck to line up
It must suck to have litigious neighbors.
jerk neighbors come in many varieties, but litigious has got to be one of the worst
Yes it does, but on the other hand I got me going on building a second house, so I make out in the end
