I can watch your videos all day!! Your soft spoken voice makes it very enjoyable!! Videos are educational and picture perfect!! I can tell that you are very proud of your New Orleans history!! Great job!!
Really nice. It's a beautiful cemetery and the angel of grief is very touching. Thanks for the video. The diversity in resting places is fascinating from simple home made displays to incredible expensive ways of remembering your loved ones, the Egyptian tomb, the castle, the Confederate tomb. Very nice.
I enjoy vlogs like this which are made by locals to the area. You always seem to get more detailed information than you would from someone who is just visiting. This was extremely informative. Great job!
@@DeadlyKnot Well hello Mr. Knot. I recognized the pyramid and two sculptures from your vlog. I love cemetery treks....this was a great one. Thanks to Noladeej.
@@pamelasmitley3712 I've filmed a few with noladeej. He got me into filming cemeteries. Speaking of cemetery videos. He has one that I'm going to post July 4 th. Look up cypress Grove on noladeej s channel. That's what I'm working on for next week
That was the most amazing cemetery Ive ever seen. I especially liked the Pete Fountain grave. He was my idol growing up on the clarinet, my first instrument back in the 60's. I have a nice collection of his early works, on vinyl, after he left Lawrence Welk. He had amazing tone like he was blowing into a barrel. Never read a note of music!
This was what I was able to find out about the Brunswig Tomb for you. Lucien Napoleon Brunswig was a pharmaceutical millionaire, and when his young son and wife died within a month of each other he had them buried in a pyramid. A sphinx guards its doorway along with a woman delivering a libation urn; a winged orb chiseled over its entrance offers divine protection.
+Russell Cox Thank you! Yeah, that was my favorite part. It was locked up, but the groundskeeper asked me if I would like to go inside, so he unlocked it for me!
It's beautiful, and based on one in Italy, which was based on a sculptor's grief for his late wife, whose children encouraged him to do a more sculptural memorial to their mother, as befitting his usual art.
Wow just amazing. I gotta say this is one of your best yet.. New Orleans really is a different place no other place like it that I have been I just wish i would have explored more of it before I moved from the area.
I love exploring cemeteries and it's so interesting to see all the different cemeteries all around the world. Thank you for your vlogs. If I never get to go to these places I feel I have seen it thoroughly. Great work God bless
You make it possible for us to vicariously visit places we often want to, but cannot. Thank you so very much for visiting some of Louisiana’s cemeteries. Your tours and narration are very interesting.
I really love your content, been watching pretty much all your older videos and so on. I just might head there this weekend and make my own video on this place! I just love graveyards in general.
The pyramid was a very sacred funerary structure for the Egyptians. They believed that the human spirit would travel up through the tip and into the heavens, which is why the tip points to the sky. The person in the tomb was probably a Kemetic Polytheist or someone whose religious or spiritual life was heavily influenced by ancient Egypt.
Very Interesting. Thanks for the History Commentary! I could have kept on watching! Another New Subscriber Here! (When you first talked about the temperature change I thought that you were talking about Cincinnati!)
I live in chicago, they have a pyramid structured mausoleum designed just like that at graceland cemetery. It's also the burial place of the Walgreen family and George pullman just to name a couple.
You just gained new sub. I always want to know when and why everytime I go to a cemetery. I know thats weird but its interesting. Like I wonder why people abandoned their house, I want to know the cause of death and why. Thank you for fulfilling that!! You are dope!!
Old cemeteries are fascinating, and the mausoleums and crypts are artistically beautiful. But I have sometimes wondered what the cost was or is to build them? In this day and age, I would think the mausoleum and statuary would come at a price of many thousands of dollars, easily 5, even 6 figures! Astounding.
Many people might recognize Louie Prima from Disney's animated "The Jungle Book". He plays Louie, King of the Apes, who threatens Mowgli , but ends up doing one of the silver screens best duets: "I Want to Be Like You", with Phil Harris, as the musicly mesmerized Baloo the Bear. Phil wasn't the only one mesmerized, and this beloved song got many covers over the years.
Look up Panteón Jardines del Humaya. In sinaloa, mexico. Some impressive mausoleums built for deceased cartel members that are unique and with wifi, air conditioning, bulletproof glass you name it.
@@NOLADEEJ We need to bring him back, he's an icon~ Imagine a small little like bracelet or something to look like Mardi Gras beads to put on him, that'd be good
Isn't the pyramid tomb Nicholas Cage's tomb? Seen a few other videos about him being obessed with new orleans even staying... Or he bought I'm not sure... One of the haunted buildings down there... Stayed one night and couldn't take it anymore and left.
Well the tomb you're thinking of is in St Louis #1 and is also a pyramid tomb. He had it made specifically for him. He did own a house here, and I believe at one point he owned the LaLaurie Mansion in the Quarter which has a horrible history to it.
When body placed n tomb they started tying a string with a bell on it b/c in case u were alive u could ring bell & get rescued - this the phrases: A DEAD RINGER or the GRAVEYARD SHIFT!
Why are there so many tombs? Has it got something to do with soil issues? Here in Australia only the Greeks and Italians tend to use the big tombs and the rest either bury or cremate our dead.
I have Heard of Family Plots . This Cemetery with so Many Tombs is very Definitely Different. Not sure I understand Why People want to Be Buried in a Tomb like Structure like these ? It's like a Tomb City of the Dead. We all have our own ways about Life and Death , And what it means to us
Is this a safe cemetery to walk through alone? I understand there are large portions of N.O. including some historic cemeteries that are 3rd world caliber no-go zones.
I don’t remember his name but a black man was not allowed into the racetrack and he vowed to buy it and turn it into a cemetery. So he did. By the way that’s not a lagoon it’s Bayou Metairie.
No it does not!!!!! His is plain and in St Louis Cemetery made recently and is only cinder block with cement on top not a grand multimillios dollar granite historic tomb
New Orleans has some beautiful cemeteries. Love the tombs here.

Yeah, I need to research him a little bit more. I've heard some interesting things!
By the way, that's not the US flag in the Confederate tomb. Those are both Confederate flags, the First National and the Naval Jack.
There was a small US flag behind those.

They spelled "Walking" wrong on the back of Pete Fountain's streetcar.

Ashleigh J Because New Orleans is part of the swamp they have flooding so they do their terms above ground rather than on the ground

New Orleans is below sea level, so you hit water if you dig. People are cremated or buried above ground.
I would recommend visiting Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio. It is often referred to as being the most beautiful cemetery in the state.
