FOTD is the best update behind Anniversary imo Lost Sands, for me, has done this but to a smaller scale. Everything around GS has been a bloodbath for the last 3 days.
While I'm upset about the delay for s7, I'm on the insider and there's some good stuff coming. Just hoping they work out the bugs. But the wait should be worth it.
@@AShinyRay I'm glad you're staying optimistic shiny but I just don't see too many reapers repeating a fetch quest that doesn't pay out very well. They'd much rather use those fancy new rowboats to blow up people's ships and contribute to Merrick's side
@@magicpyroninja blowing the boat doesnt actually add to merricks side, it just makes you have to wait for another to spawn in to blow it at golden sands
Wow this update more than I thought but apart from that this is the update that made me what i am today. At fotd i met my sea of thieves mentor. I've stacked fotd with alliances. I've chased people with multiple stacks. I've tucked countless times stolen many athena and received many death threats aswell. So defiently a brilliant update not sure how they can recapture that thrill but if they do that would be brilliant.
While I wasn’t there for the FotD update, I still think FoF’s are a decent alternative. I remember day one of the FoF update, me and two friends on a brig happened across one. The idea of the excessive amount of loot was enticing, and we’d been playing for a bit so we were LOADED with supplies and ammunition. We’d gotten maybe halfway through it, when a galleon, and then mid fight, another brig, and even farther still a second enemy brig and it’s sloop alliance showed up. It was… insane. I’d never seen every ship in a server converge on a single point like that before, and we were that single point. Cannonballs everywhere, boarders at every opportunity, chainshots blotting out the sun. I’m not usually a fan of huge fights like that, but the sheer insanity of the situation was actually extremely engaging
I've had some great experiences at the FotD. Can't really imagine the game without it. Also can't imagine the game didn't have female clothes at some point- About the Season 7 delay: I wish they gave us something to do for the extra weeks. Even the slow people will probably be done with the season pass by then, so why not add 50 levels onto it that just award some gold, dubloons and maybe a 2 or 4 cosmetics. Alternatively they could have an event like they used to do them: I'm still waiting for the MA weapons. Love the video as always, keep it up! 💜
What’s the “ma” weapons? I also agree with the plunder pass idea, it’s really easy to get to 100 imo and another 150 tiers would give more of a reason to keep players for player like myself who have done almost everything
@@barker8212 MA = Merchant Alliance we have Order of Souls and Gold Hoarders weapons currently locked behind commendations that were previously available during events, they sadly never got to the MA before events got removed. Sure these days we have the newer weapons from the ledgers, but I still prefer the older ones over these.
Its so nice of u to bring up this topic again, personally i think that rare delayed the update because they've seen golden sands are gonna be buried, and since it is involving dark relics as well i think that outpost is gonna turn into something else like FotD as well; now my only concern is flameheart jr. Is insisting on the idea that if we keep doing his voyage, the golden sands will remain as it is.
Well, he also mentions that the veil between worlds is thin while it's shrouded, so my guess is he means that it needs to stay shrouded until whatever they want to bring through from the Sea of the Damned comes through.
Still remember teaming up with an allaince to steal the fort from a different allaince doing the fort we agreed to take the merchant stuff and the athena and the people we teamed up with stole the athena from us that was the only time I've been tricked and man did it change me to the pirate I am today definitely one of the best updates the game has ever had
The Banjo and the new cosmetics were definitely the highlight of this update, pvp is nice and all but the battles went on for a bit too long for my liking. I wish the devs would stop being so greedy/lazy when it comes to cosmetics, i’m beyond tired of the emporium getting a shit load each month with cosmetics more detailed then the current end game cosmetics while the outposts get yet another overpriced recolor, like atleast make them cheap if you or gonna be this lazy, the prices aren’t deserved.
The problem is that most of the time, I end up playing alone. I feel like I would not stand a chance of actually clearing that event. And it's not specifically the money that I want (Oh there's better ways for that), but mostly the commendations specific to this event. But alas, getting jumped on by another ship while busy clearing the skeletons is part of why I feel like attempting world events just isn't worth it. Since I wouldn't even be at my ship, it would barely be a fight.
I came to a fotd to do pvp, but friendly crew of 2 sailed up to me, asking if I wanted to clear the fort. Said yes, we got to business and later on 1 more friendly guy joined also. Loot was divided towards everyone's satisfaction and that concluded it. This was my first fotd, but great fun and in the future i intend to try to get more of these 'on the spot alliances'. Just wanted to let you know it can also happen as I described :)
My problem with fotd is that I can never finish it. For example, one time I started it and a ship came over and we sunk them and found where they were tucking and killed them. Then they came back 2 times and did the same thing each time. Then they finally stopped coming back, and another ship stopped at a nearby island, swam over, and tried to tuck. 5 times. Then, they came back the sixth time, and he grabbed a keg, and ended up blowing up our ship. And that same thing happens every time I try to do fotd.
The fotd was a great addition and is still used by tons of players even today, but on a side note, PEOPLE THINK THE ATHENA IS BLUE?!?! great vid as always 😁
Seeing the FOTD skull in the sky still makes my heart race. It almost guarantees spices. My crew and I have got in the habit of starting it up towards the end of a session hoping to encourage some pvp. More advanced fun like this please, Rare.

I dont think Fotd improved pvp, but instead it allowed people to show their full pvp potential And on the season 7 delay, I would understand maybe an extra week, 2 weeks max... but 5 whole weeks? This better be worth it

i actualy had what you discribed about the fort of the dammed but than at a fof a fullout battle roayale with 4 ships we got betrayed by our aliance blew up a bunch of ships and adventualy just snagged the athena and that was it

I don't know I don't think you're reapers are capable of focusing long enough on killing Golden sands theyre going to be too busy chasing other ships around trying to steal from them instead of doing the fetch quest for the servant
Always had die to a Vulcano (or the glowing stones but I didn't knew that back then) to get the red flame and all the memories I have of rowboat steals, defending and attacking, such a great time

I like FoTD...But I would like to fight with crews more balanced to my noobish level, being kinda bad, and having serverhopper day 1 tryhards come to stomp on you is not fun at all. Fricking hate serverhopping. Dont know how rare allows it to be a thing.
Well fort of the dammed isn’t much of a pvp event I’ve done it many times and only had 3 times someone tried to fight me and they were new reapers so I wouldn’t say it is pvp more pve instead
Honestly, I hate the FotD for its gloomy atmosphere and the honestly tedious layout and gameplay. I wish Rare made another player-started World Event somewhere you can actually see.
In my opinion: I thought fort of the damned was just another event to get dicked over in the game. Another time sink with no pay out in the end because gallions would just go on a killing spree preventing people from enjoying what little was add in for people that just want to go treasure hunting and be left alone.
If you want to go treasure hunting and be left alone, there is plenty of ways to do that. No one forces you to start a FotD which announces your whereabouts and intentions to the entire server ...
Cross play in a game like this gives Xbox players a huge disadvantage i mean pc has lots of advantages over Xbox they need Xbox only serves and what they have right now if theirs not enough Xbox players they force you into a server with pc players

Fort of the damned is one of my favorite updates ever, the fort is great, the gameplay, and everything else, just an amazing update

Fotd is nice but i wish the treasures inside were better. It’s just not worth the effort that much right now.
