  • I've had so many requests to share my natural, organic beauty routine with you. So here it is! I will be sharing the natural way I moisturize and care for my skin, as well as the healthy, natural makeup brand I almost exclusively use and recommend.
    The products I use for my skin care are raw, natural and organic, which means that they can be multi-purposed for skin, hair, and body care, and are budget-friendly.
    I will be sharing why it is important to be conscious of what we use in our beauty routine and how it can affect our overall health. I share why I almost exclusively use the natural brand "100% Pure" makeup, and talk to you about my friend Jessica's all natural hand-crafted cream that she is now selling!

    We will cover:
    *The biggest problem with all mainstream beauty and skin care products
    *Why I only use products on my face that are edible
    *How I keep my skin naturally moisturized and glowy using only a few multi-purpose organic ingredients
    *The Asian face lifting massage techniques I use regularly that make a huge difference and decrease puffiness
    *The importance of well defined brows and how I apply my natural products to achieve this
    *How I apply my organic makeup for a classic, elegant every day look. This is partly inspired by history, and partly inspired by modern makeup.

    I love this! I make my own face wash and use it twice a day. It consists of 1/4 cup of Besan (aka Gram) flower, 2 Tablespoons of White Turmeric powder, and 1 Tablespoon of Orange Peel powder. I mix the powders and save them in a glass jar. Each morning and night, I take some and make a paste with water, and add a teaspoon of MSM powder to it. Smooth it on my face and neck and then rinse with warm water. This mask dealt with all of my fine lines and adult acne. I’m loving your channel. ❤❤ Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! 🌺💞

    I haven't used makeup for over 30 years. The most I go for is some natural lip moisturiser. It is freeing and I'm so used to looking at my face, unadorned, I have no desire to begin using it again. I use natural oil on my face rather than creams, I'm content with how I look and skin feels and looks alive 👍

      I would love to learn more about your natural moisturizer and possibly purchase from your new etsy shop. One question -- is there any lanolin in it? I only ask because I unfortunately have an anaphylactic reaction to lanolin and it's in so very many effective moisturizers that I have to be super careful.....but I also still want to find quality natural products. It's a struggle, haha. Many blessings to you in your etsy adventure!

    I used to use natural stuff only but I've changed since and now I use both: natural and less natural because there are many innovations in the skincare industry. However, I live in Europe and it's different when it comes to ingredients compared to US.

    • @Kitty-Cat
      @Kitty-Cat Рік тому +16

      Same. I've struggled with acne my whole adult life and I've tried all natural skincare, diet, regular exercise, etc etc. for years. I will say cutting out dairy did a lot for me, but it didn't eliminate the acne I would get that time of the month. So last year I finally threw in the towel and looked to commercial products for oily acne prone skin with ingredients like retinoids, niacinamide, glycolic acid etc. and the results are stunning. I still have some ways to go, but now I only get very few tiny pimples that heal quickly, no more deep cystic acne and my skin is much smoother and more even in tone. I still love to use all natural products where I can, but skincare-wise I feel my quality of life has improved after including these not-so-natural products.

    Hey Katherine, I really appreciate your videos and general input. I do want to point out that suggesting that our skin absorbs everything is not correct and invokes unnecessary fear. Some ingredients do end up in our blood in tiny amounts but most don't. This is exactly the purpose of our skin barrier. It's a barrier between the outside and our inside. It's great to use natural oils and other ingredients without thinking everything else will kill you.

    Normally i don't agree with the fear mongering from green washing because most talk about "toxins" and "harmful chemicals" because literally things like salt, and even water are chemicals and both taking too much can kill you, but most of those ingredients weren't too bad. Except for the essential oils because for some people they can be irritating. As for the make your own sunscreen i wouldn't recommend because usually the SPF protection is about a 10 instead of a 50 which is what is best. Natural isn't always better.

    • @hampstercrazy
      @hampstercrazy Рік тому +3

      I made the same comment. The DIY sunscreen is horrible misinformation.

    • @CJ_536
      @CJ_536 Рік тому

      I agree. I am sympathetic with the concept of natural products, but I have highly sensitive skin and have found that cleansers and moisturizers and cosmetics that are "cruelty free" or "natural" are the fastest path to an allergic reaction. My skin likes things made in a lab. I think the issue is largely botanicals and essential oils from spices.. for example, rose water is a sure way to give me hives. I also have large pores and facial eczema, so I need intense moisture that won't create break outs. So as an example, pure coconut oil is great for eczema but clogs pores fast. I am very fair and never tan and burn fast. I like 50spf reapplied every few hours. I can get away with 30 in winter. Every person's skin is different, so those who are sensitive to chemicals may love this, but after a number of painful mishaps, there is no way I am leaving my safe, commercial, animal tested products.

    My favorite has been tallow butter. I now make my own. It's the least processed skin care possible. Lots of seed oils can be highly processed. I no longer eat any seed oils so I stopped using them for my skin as well (even though they are mostly toxic when heated). I also buy lots of products from 100% Pure. Glad their mascara works for you. It always ended up under my eyelids within an hour so I had to find another natural mascara that would stay on.

    I absolutely love watching your videos, and it always makes me happy to see more and more people take the initiative to put on sunscreen. I do need to warn you about making your own sunscreen at home though. The zinc oxide is not giving you any form of protection, because it needs to specifically formulated to provide sun protection, which cannot be done at home.

    Thank you! I do not use any make up at 65. I keep it pretty simple for my routine. Haven’t done anything fancy with my hair, but so far I have been spreading out how often I wash my hair and using the Shea moisture reconstructive finishing elixir just a tiny bit on the ends of my hair every few days and then rubbing it through my hair. Just a couple drops. Also, being careful what I use to put my hair up with as well as change my part and how I put my hair up. This is a recent change. My hair has thinned out so much and a dermatologist just said it was genetic. I have noticed much less hair falling out and it is not tangling as much. It is shoulder length. I have bought a few natural shampoos and dilute them. Sulfite free. No conditioner with vinegar in water Rivne. Washing once a week and going to expand to every two weeks. Use a boar bristle brush just a little every few days.

    Please tell your friend we would love her natural skin cream. I have super sensitive skin, even to natural things, and not so natural things that are in some brands. All the ingredients in the video look good except maybe not the zinc oxide. I don’t know if the sunblock from beauty counter had other things in it I was reacting too or if it was the unnatural additives they used for extra ultra violet protection, which was very unnatural. I reacted badly to it. Most essential oils for face and most natural rouge and lipstick ingredients improve the health of my skin and lips a lot when I use it more. Canola oil and soy is something I am very sensitive too which is one reason why I had to quit using Bert’s Bee’s lipstick/balms and some other similar products. I can’t do canola oil. Most detergents are also very harsh to my skin. I love rose oil and star anise.

      @PurelyCoincidental Рік тому +1

      While it's possible you might be allergic to zinc oxide, I think it's more likely you were allergic to something else in the sunblock. Zinc oxide is fairly benign, and I say that as someone who also has a lot of allergies. (Including beeswax and shea butter, and coconut oil seems to irritate my skin a bit...so unfortunately most of the products she suggests are out for me.)
      Zinc oxide doesn't mix in creams really easily, which is why good sunblock is expensive-it takes work to get it right. I do mix some in lotions for everyday summer wear, but I live in a place where the sun never gets very strong; I wouldn't trust it against "real" sun.

      @@PurelyCoincidental yes, I have none of the sensitivity/ allergies you mentioned having, so it’s probably fine. I’ll be careful when figuring it out. Good to know.👍

      @@PurelyCoincidental a friend of mine told me that using plain heavy oils like coconut oil on your face isn’t good for any skin type out side of a face mask that’s similar to oil pulling and which you quickly wash off in order for it not to make you break out. She said her skin did not respond well to oils at all but it needed something in order for it to be manageable and presentable, and so she used her essential oils... rose, lavender, chamomile, frankincense, in a spray bottle and sprayed it on her hair and face. She recommended I do this instead of wearing oils or any face creams whatsoever. Washing the face with nothing but a little Unheated raw honey mixed in water was also recommended.

    Just need to jump in here and say that no, everything we apply to our skin does NOT end up inside our bodies. Our skin is a barrier to the outside world, it is ment to keep thing out of out bodies. :P Skincare needs to be formulated very carefully to be able to penetrate the skin even a little bit down, and even then it doesn't enter our bloodstream or whatever you think ends up happening. Our skin: a very effective barrier.

    my best face wash/mask would be this
    -besan (chickpea flour)
    -turmeric
    -honey
    -raw milk
    -aloevera gel
    -rosewater/rosemary water
    I dunno I was having weird breakouts on my cheeks. the acne was recurring at the same place for over 4 months and the scar (still isnt) fading AT ALL. I mean, I've had huge zits before to the point I had to have to medically removed and walk around with bandages on my face. istg they didn't left the marks as dark and as stubborn as these breakouts I was having.
    using this face pack/mask as a nightly face wash completely stopped weird acne from recurring. skin just seems to be more 'balanced'. also its my seborrheic dermatitis friendly unlike most commercial facewashes which trigger it. I always swear by the dove soap bars but this time they really didn't help on this acne😢 and all other 'face washes' burns my seborrheic dermatitis, especially the salicylic acid face wash.
    and yes I do moisturise my face after using face washes. I am pretty sure that the moisturiser I used four months ago along with the salicylic acid face wash was the one that caused that stupid acne😪 because I've never had that before. at least not on past few years. I did had few breakouts when I was a middle schooler. I don't remember having it until recently I tried to do skincare, which fired back 💀 I was personally using salicylic acid face wash for the blackheads in my nose. and no they didn't reduce either.

    Unfortunately 100% Pure - which used to be my favourite brand - has been using a lot of hydrogenated oil in their products for over a decade. It’s hugely upsetting. Would you eat toxic hydrogenated oil?
    The are very few truly clean organic makeup brands: Gressa Beauty, Zuii & 14e are a few I really like. Unfortunately I can’t find any good lip or eye pencils. Especially not in the colours I like.

    • @maidende8280
      @maidende8280 Рік тому +8

      That rose gold palette you use has hydrogenated avocado oil, which they try to hide by calling it ‘avocado butter’ - but that doesn’t exist - it’s just synthetically hydrogenated oil & I’ve confirmed that with their customer support as well as testing it myself (I’m a chemist).
      The eye pencil you use contains: Hydrogenated Jojoba Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Canola Oil, Sclerocarya Birrea Seed Oil, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Glyceryl Caprylate, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax, Tocopherol, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Ascorbyl Palmitate. May contain: Iron Oxides, Mica
      Hydrogenated oil as the very first ingredient, & again as the third, where they don’t even specify the exact source, which means it’s almost definitely something quite nasty (refined seed oil, I’d bet you). And you’ll see that the ingredients include toxic canola oil too.
      I strongly urge you to look into the toxicity of refined seed oils (which are typically GMO too) & hydrogenated oils/trans fat. Unfortunately, almost no one in natural beauty seems to care about these widely used nasty ingredients.

      I might have to make my own makeup too, like the Fitglow approach (everything has skin care properties, high percentage of active ingredients) but completely organic & nontoxic. And there’s such a lack of bright colours in truly natural beauty, too.
