Very interesting! In Australia we have around 1% less interbank rate. People here pay idiotic high prices for used cars. But we can also get 5.5% saving interest usually limited to 100 grands per bank with a government guarantee of 250k all in local AUD of course. But charging infrastructure in remote areas is still dismal. No date as to when we can get the Cybertruck. A pain living in a country where they drive on the wrong side of the road. Toyota is still the No1 brand in Australia. We already see heaps of cheap stuff like BYD and some MG electric junk. @2Shopping malls provide free Tesla charging. Ford was boasting their F150 Lightning back to home supply. I hear they sell slow now. Funny here they had privatised power supplier. Now the government hands out payments for cost of living. I asked Mercedes if they would sell me a model EQA for cash. They refused, citing that their finance arm was propping up losses in EV production.

I was sent the survey twice, and completed it twice as well. I’m in Washington state.

That is interesting. I wonder what they did. Lost them all, or forgot they sent the survey out already? Hopefully we get contacted soon by someone about the installation. Would be nice to have it installed when we get the Cybertruck.
      Thank You for watching👍

I’m jealous of your place in line, but not what you’re paying. lol
BTW: I’ll take the model S off your hands for $8,000.

WOW, such a generous offer🤣. I really had think about it! For half a second🤣.
I'm not much a fan of the price either. But it does come with the home power back up pieces and a few accessories. Not that these make up for the price difference between 2019 and now. But what electric truck can I get for $100k? Ford and Rivian are right up there too. Neither of those provides parts for home back up, actually Ford needs another $9k or something crazy for that and Rivian does not offer that option.
Did you put a reservation in for the Cybertruck?

I’ve been wondering a ballpark for this homeshare/gateway equipment install…especially with the cyberbeast foundation coming with a $4000 credit for install

I have looked at my set up and think it can be done relatively easy if the whole house goes on back up. It gets way more labor and parts intensive once circuits have to be separated.
$4000 doesn’t go very far in some places, but can be plenty in other places. I’m still waiting to hear from someone about my installation. And obviously I will make a video once I get contacted and have more info.

the v2h justifies the price of the ct by itself alone. A 120 kW battery back up would cost you $100K alone.

🤔🤨🧐Energy storage is much cheaper these days. A Powerwall 2 is about $8k and has 13.5kWh usable energy storage. 10 Powerwalls would cost $80k and provide 135kWh of energy storage. Just with Powerwalls you get more for less.
Other options are out there where you can get 10kWh for about $5k, that makes $60k for 120kWh. $40k less than the CT.
Home energy storage has another benefit, it is always at home and works when your not there, or the CT is not there. Home energy storage can also be set up to charge to full when a storm is expected so that full capacity is available, while the CT could be at any, even a low SOC, at the time when power is needed.
Now that Powerwall does not drive one around, doesn't tow a trailer or haul stuff in the bed. There is definitely also value in that.
I would say the combination of having the truck and it doubling as power back when home has certainly makes it more valuable.
When compared to the F-150 Lightning top model, that offers V2H as well the CT Foundation Series is about $10k more. But who wants a F-150 anyway🤣
      I think you got a good point.👍

I doubt we have large stationary battery installs in the future. Probably just small 10kW stationary storage to handle the 120v circuits and then the EV to handle 220v circuits. Typical house hold has 2 EV's with v2h, your pretty much covered, and why have batteries doing nothing when they could be driving you around. Probably a good argument for the extended battery pack on CT to also be able to take out and use as stationary storage. Just spit balling@@RMTFamily

You're right, there will be a mix of both. I think home power storage will be a bit bigger because of the grid. There will be VPP's and micro grids in many places to make up for the lack of the grid. Cars are always parked but mostly in the wrong places😂. If cars could connect to the grid via a charger almost anywhere and each car would have a specific identifier so that it can provide power to the grid as needed and one can get paid for it, that would be cool.

The idea that you can drive your battery to a working SC and recharge your house is a powerful concept. A couple of permanent power walls for time shifting and a CT for a long outage is pretty awesome

    • @RMTFamily
      @RMTFamily  8 місяців тому +1

@@OnTheSnap1 That is a good point and would work for many. As long as the Supercharger has power. In widespread power outages the closest Supercharger may not have any power, neither do gas stations😂, so it depends on how many charging options one has close enough to still have plenty of charge in the CT when getting back home. For us one Supercharger is 30 miles east and the other is 40 miles west of us. I think that one of the two would have power and we if we charge to 100% and drive back home we would still have a great amount energy available. One could even use a level 2 charger, just spend the day in town or something. But for sure since the CT is a drivable fuel tanker😂one can move large amounts of fuel for the home real easy. And you don't even have to bring gas cans to move that fuel🤣. I love EV's.
