meat with potatoes or rice or bread - hard to digest. but also the liver will get in trouble with time. Maybe the young people can do it for a while, but then, they will feel it and need to adapt, change and not mix the proteins with the carbs, It's not easy to understand for people in the beginning "why i was able to mix any foods without any problems before? " - well, there is accumulation, inflammation, liver becomes clogged and tired, weaker stomach acid, weaker digestive enzymes made by the pancreas, even the weak/insufficient bile juice could be another cause.

I'm 68 now. I received my first bench when I was 13. Been working out on and off for years. I've always worked out using the 10 reps for basically all my body parts. on the bench I would work out 10 reps for the first 3 sets and gradually work up to a 1 rep set of my max (got t0 375lbs during my regular workouts) Once I hit my max I would whined down to 3 sets of 6 then 8 and finish with 10 reps. I would average 10 sets of bench presses AND THEN do 3-5 sets of incline presses, and then 3-4 sets of flies. All the res of my body sets would be at least 5-6 sets per part. I would workout 6 days a week and on leg day I would finish with a 5-7 mile run. I was doing sit ups on a board set up at 80 degrees with a 45lbs weight on my chest. The only supplements I took were vitamins. My diet consisted solely on organic foods and I MADE MY OWN WHOLE WHEAT BREAD. Then life happened and I stopped because my girlfriend at the time complained I spent too much time in the gym (at least 3 hrs. per day and stretching) THAT WAS THE WORST THING i EVER DID FOR A WOMAN! Then I got involved with the Air Force power lifting team on Aviano Air Base, Italy. I had fun and even became a judge for some official meets. I could only compete in friendship meets since I was not active duty at the time. So I worked out a little with power lifters and boy are they crazy. I was fortunate to workout with Dusty Caldwell who held many records in the Air Force to include a 750 deadlift and this was back in 1983. Then I broke up with my girl, worked out a little and then hit the "party scene." At 30 years old I was offered to play semi-pro American Football here in Italy, hit the weights again, started running again and sprinting, and played Full Back until I was 33 while teaching First Grade full time and getting married. Had a few injuries to include a concussion and dislocated shoulder. Then life happened again and got a divorce. I started working out again and in a years time got married in 1993. I worked out until I pulled my back out over a stupid accident while putting back only 220 lbs back on the stand and missed the left catch. My back healed and I went back to the gym. One day I was tired didn't want to go to the gym but my wife said "Go, you know once you are there you will get psyched up." I went and finished with my sit ups and pulled my back out badly. Went to many doctors and fouund a specialists neurosurgeon. He told me after my MRI that I had 5 slipped disks but suggested I only operate on the L3-4. Surgery went perfect but I fucked it ups trying to be macho by lifting a carriage onto our van. I slipped out the surgery AND DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE ANOTHER. Well, I eventually went back to the gym after having 2 kids and being medically retired from my DODDS school teaching job. I got back to jogging 3 miles and doing a few bench presses, curls, and even bento over rows with 135lbs. At 58 in the mornings I would jog a mile and hit the gym. I was able to bench 315 cold, leg press 1,500lbs for 1 or 2 reps and felt great. The life happened again and I had an accident were a heavy board fell out of my hand and busted my big toe and a week later I partially tore my left bicep when carrying an air-conditioner. I couldn't walk in a balanced manner and that through out my back, and I could not workout anymore with my torn bicep. So for the next years I basically did nothing and was depressed. I but on weight and hit about 275 at 5 foot 9 inches. NOT GOOD. I was later diagnosed with high blood pressure (I SMOKE LIKE A JERK because of my depression). At 62 I started walking again with our new dog and walked 3 miles every day but I was no longer loosing weight. Now at 68 I feel my metabolism has slowed down so much even though I walk almost every day. I am now 315lbs and I can't seem to lose the weight even though I workout and pay attention to my diet which is meat based with vegetables and hardly no carbs. What do yo think? Write now I am up to 6-7 sets of benching combines flat and inclined bench with a max of 225 in both , shoulder lateral raises 3 sets, Lat machine 3 sets, Trice pull downs 3 sets, curls with 35lb dumbells 3 sets, shrugs 3 sets and I walk at least 2 an half miles every other day or every day except Sunday. I also ride a stationary bicycle for 3 sets of 5 minutes, 3 sets of squats with no weight, and 3 sets of calf raises. I'm working on quitting cigarettes and I know I have the strength and cardio to do much more - not that more is better. I just can't loose the weight!
In Vince’s book Unleashing Your Wild Physique he advocates a carbohydrate rich maintenance diet that is used the majority of the year for maintenance and some gaining. No one seems to cover this diet ever, only Vince’s specialty diets get any notoriety.

And some now gone. ,, goin back to old school knowledge and workouts. At present. ,,ust to feel that old school. Vibe. So watching a lot of videos like. This. Yes. Diet. Is one area. I need to work one more. ..good to see you again. @simon
Great video Daryl love hearing the information you received from Vince, I have a question about after the third day and your going to eat your high carb meal is it ok to add fat to the starch such as sour cream with a potato?
I just discovered this video! It's jam-packed with great info. Thanks! Quick question on the Uni-Liver by Universal Nutrition which I think you're referring to as being close to the tablets that were available through Vince.. Haven't seen it in stock recently. do you know where I can get them? If not, can you recommend any other great quality liver tablets? thanks so much.
@@cozybearmoving3066 It depends on your training. For bulking Vince would recommend 6 every three hours in between meals, for definition Vince would recommend 10 every three hours. But you would also be taking other supplements in conjunction with the livers to help break them down and utilized.
@@DarylConant Thanks! 2 more questions, The carb meals on Vince's diets, is that in addition to the other meals, or a replacement for one of the meat meals? I know not to mix the protein and carbs like you stated.. And for the last week of the month, Vince advised a rest week. Those the diet and macros stay the same for this?
@@DarylConant ok, I was doing it wrong. I was having 1/2 a cup of white rice as an add on, but I did spread it 2 hours apart from my protein meals. I think I need to have a bigger portion of carbs if I'm going to replace it as a meal. When do you think it's the best time for the carb meal? Or it doesn't matter? Thanks again for this info.
Only take creatine after workouts to replenish the ATP/CP system. Taking creatine when stores are full is not useful, access creatine will be eliminated through the kidneys.
Just started Vince's egg diet a few days ago without any of the enzymes or supplements (facepalm). Glad I ran into this video to learn it's not the same without all the supplements. Interestingly enough I seem to be losing weight on the plan. I'm upping my eggs to 24 today. Would you consider the diets unsafe without all the supplementation that goes along with them? I would obviously throw in a refeed of carbs every once in a while and have a nightly salad to try and stay regular. Would love to see this stuff written out in an actual plan as I'm more of a visual learner. I really hope this info is in the books. Keep up the excellent work.
I would suggest that you take digestive enzymes with each meal. Also, you need to take a daily vitamin, Vitamin C, Vitamin D3 with K2, Zinc. When you feel like you are getting tired that means you glycogen levels are low, that is when you can have a carbohydrate meal to restore glycogen.
I go over Vince's nutrition in both of my books. Also, for those that purchase one or both of the books can email me any questions they may have about the material. I am always available to answer questions and to guide people through the information.
@@DarylConant Wow, thanks. I think I over did it. Feeling fatigue. Should I cut it out completely for a week and start back up? Or start from 1 kelp a build up?

Daryl, thank you for putting up all your information and continuïng the legacy of this ‘superspecial’ guy named Vince Gironda. Heart breaking story btw of you finally looking him up to find out the gym was gone and t he legend already passed away. Q. Could you name a supplement brand that sells the glandular supplements that you speak off?
They are different formulas, they are still pretty good. But you can't get the original 92% milk and egg protein that Ron Kosloff sold any more. Their desicatted livers are in capsule form, which are easier to consume than the originals.
What about Mixing Protein with Peanut butter,is it going thru the liver as well or it goes to glycogen? Im asking because Peanut butter contains fat, proteins and carbs.
Peanut butter should be consumed by itself. Mixing other proteins with it can cause gas and gastrointestinal discomfort. Peanuts are a lower quality protein, many people have a hard time digesting peanuts in general. If you don't have digestive issues when consuming peanut butter, I would suggest that you consume it by itself as an energy source, preferably before a workout.
@@abatv1346 Peanut Butter is an incomplete protein aka you will not get muscle or cell building from it. You will pee out the Nitrogen and what's left are the same molecules for carbs which you either burn or store as in fat cells.
Lot of dartboard and bro science here, especially with the eggs not being cooked a certain way will reduce their quality. But overall I think there's some good advice in here
I wouldn't say Vince's methods and nutrition is bro science. Vince was a pioneer in bodybuilding and nutrition. Many of his concepts are just now being taught in universities. Many doctors would consult with Vince about his nutrition principles, in fact, Dr. Atkins developed his entire nutrition based off of what Vince taught him. I have taken numerous college courses on nutrition and none of them taught me as much as Vince taught me. Vince had a very high IQ and was one the most intelligent guys I have ever talked to. Doctors and universities are still teaching nutrition based on out dated charts and pyramids. I would take Vince's advice any day over the universities.
I love the story when Joe Weider sent Arnold Schwarzenegger to Vinces Gym. The story goes that Arnold walks up to Vince and says “I am Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mr. universe“ and Vince looks at him and says “you look like a fat F*** to me!”
You’re famous. ;) Have you tried working with a biochemist to re-create his products? I know someone who might be able or interested in working with you.
Daryl, I don't think I knew you at the gym, but you're making me laugh about the liver tabs...several of the Cardines worked out late, they had the keys to Vince's gym, in fact, they had a bulldog named Vince...I digress...but the liver tabs were pretty bad. Mohammad Makaway was working out at Vince's during the early 80s. Mo did used to eat those liver tabs without any water...I told Vince there was noway I was gonna eat them...but I took a lot of them. I got to where I could down 5 or 6 at a time...up to 10...I trained under Vince twice in my life and worked out at his gym for years. That sauna was a real $#!T#o!e, but I used to use it. Here's something about protein that Vince didn't tell a lot of people, but in the most severe stage, you need to limit your intake of meat. The picture from "The Vince Gironda Volume I" he always told me he was 53 years old. I question the birthdate of 1917, in that regard. He never told people his age, died his hair, and Tinkerbell was quite a bit younger. That picture was taken in 1956. Many famous actors went through those doors...into that damp, darm, aroma of sweat, with mirrors on the wall...he nicknamed me "The Rabbi". EDIT: in regard to the pictures, in "The Vince Gironda Files Volume II, that picture was taken when Vince was in his 40s, and I have eaten the same food...8 oz. of meat and 2 hard boiled eggs a day, that's it. The other thing is Vince would use the Vegetarian diet to shock the system, so whatever diet you were on, if you weren't making progress or hit a wall, he's put me on the Vegetarian diet to shock the system. Same with that 5 day body flush. 1 dozen raw eggs and raw milk, Vince didn't mind me using cinnamon. But everyone got that flush when they first went to train with him. Yeah, those suppliments from NSP weren't cheap, but I bought almost all of them from Vince. Once, Vince sent me to a health food store in Talula Lake to get fish lipids...they were nasty. Was a test, mainly in regard to Vilhjalmur Stefansson's "Not by bread alone". Worse tasting than the liver tabs...how about those liver belches? LOL
I was a member of Vince's gym back in 1978 and he trained me the first thing he said let's start you on a diet of steak and eggs, and supplements I was 17 in 1979 about 135lb, in a year I was 170 and still till this day I'm in fantastic shape

Nicely explained !
Hey man love the videos could you please make more videos about the supplements going more in-depth with it cheers!!!
17:25 In between the next meal digestive enzymes?? Is it because the liver tabs?
Darryl I did lateral raises and actually did work side delts, question raising the dumbell over shoulder height doesn't involve traps?

Are there any video's of Ron Kozlof on you tube ? I can't find anything . Thanks for all that you do ! P.S. The egg & milk protein is great !
No there aren't any more videos of Ron. He was one of the greats.
Thanks for the info.
When i finished finding the whole supplement stack list, i was 65 years old.
it's lots of supplements..
thanks for sharing ❤
Yes it was.
There’s a lot of similarities to the Beverly International supplements and diet protocols. Been a big fan of theirs for 20 years now.
Beverly International is definitely a quality company. Their Liver and amino acid tablets are very good along with the rest of their supplements.
In Vince’s book Unleashing Your Wild Physique he advocates a carbohydrate rich maintenance diet that is used the majority of the year for maintenance and some gaining.
No one seems to cover this diet ever, only Vince’s specialty diets get any notoriety.
I go over all his diet plans in detail in my books.
Daryl. You right that old school. Knowledge is something special. .. very special. I grew up as a kid around a few greats. Who well. Some still around.
Yes, you could do that. That combination is permissible.
Thank you for your response I also like to eat cottage cheese with potatoes as well@@DarylConant

@@DarylConant Awesome. Thanks Daryl.
@@DarylConantSir how many of these particular liver tabs would Vince advise we take each day? (I was thinking 1 tab for every 10 lbs of bodyweight).
@@cozybearmoving3066 It depends on your training. For bulking Vince would recommend 6 every three hours in between meals, for definition Vince would recommend 10 every three hours. But you would also be taking other supplements in conjunction with the livers to help break them down and utilized.
send me an email with your question it's easier to answer via email. darylconant@darylconant.com
It's a shame that bodybuilders today never even heard of the great vince gironda
Did Vince recommend to cycle 3 days on - 3 days off on the HCL / Digestives as well? Thanks.
no, digestive enzymes are necessary to help aid in digestion and can be taken every day. They don't enter the bloodstream like other supplements do.
@@YouGottaBeAFreak Replace one of the regular scheduled meals with a carb meal, no protein. The diet stays the same during the off week.
@@YouGottaBeAFreak have it after your workout when your glycogen levels are depleted.
Did vince ever have any advice in preventing hair loss?
He would recommend eating the whole egg. Eggs contain biotin which helps hair growth.
What about cycling creatine as well?
Only take creatine after workouts to replenish the ATP/CP system. Taking creatine when stores are full is not useful, access creatine will be eliminated through the kidneys.
Can you get ripped on the 36eggs a day diet..?
Did Rheo blair and vince work together as far as the nutrition, seems similar?
Currently researching and trying to find as much info as possible about Vinces nutrition protocols. Thank you for doing this detailed video !
I go in more depth with Vince's programs and nutrition in my books InVINCEable and ConVINCEd. www.darylconant.com
How many Kelp tablets did you take?
Vince had me build up. I started with 2 per day and progressively working up to 10 per day.
@@DarylConant Nice! Thank you so much for the fast reply! Progressively working up week by week I'm guessing
@@meccagolds817 that is correct
@@DarylConant Wow, thanks. I think I over did it. Feeling fatigue. Should I cut it out completely for a week and start back up? Or start from 1 kelp a build up?
@@meccagolds817 Kelp affects the thyroid so it is important to make sure your thyroid is not over working of not working efficiently enough. How much to take is based on certain factors. Not everyone should be taking 10 a day. I can't recommend dosage without knowing more about you. I offer nutritional counseling for $29. if you would like more help with Vince's nutrition. Email me at: darylconant@darylconant.com
What digestive enzymes would you suggest ?
I use Super Enzyme by NOW
Was it UNIVERSAL's Beef Aminos?
Back then it was NSP's Beef Liver, Universal is an alternative. They are the same as NSP's. NSP does not produce the liver's they had in the 80's.
Instead of adding oil to your protein isolate shack could you eat some butter before you drink it to get the fat
I suppose that would be fine.
Nsp still had beef liver and 92% milk and egg protein is the formula not the same as back then?
Ok,thank you for the advice.
@@abatv1346 Peanut Butter is an incomplete protein aka you will not get muscle or cell building from it. You will pee out the Nitrogen and what's left are the same molecules for carbs which you either burn or store as in fat cells.
Vince recommended another “desert” appropriate for his diets, plain gelatin and heavy whipping cream.
Should you eat the low or high fat cottage cheese before bed
4% whole milk 60-90 minutes before bed
I would take Vince's advice any day over the universities.
can i take a spoon of peanut butter with my whey protein shake for fats ? as you mentioned to take fats with your protein shake
It would be better to add a tablespoon of MCT oil instead. Medium Chain Triglycerides assimilate better
I love the story when Joe Weider sent Arnold Schwarzenegger to Vinces Gym. The story goes that Arnold walks up to Vince and says “I am Arnold Schwarzenegger, Mr. universe“ and Vince looks at him and says “you look like a fat F*** to me!”
that is correct
You’re famous. ;)
Have you tried working with a biochemist to re-create his products? I know someone who might be able or interested in working with you.
Ironmind makes a copy of Rheo Blairs protein.
LOL
I can't eat dairy anymore 🐄 😪 cant digest any milk products
Funny 🤔 I can digest melted cheese though 🍕🍔
You can, you just have to train yourself to handle it. Like weights, start small and work your way up.
It is an awful diet for your blood vessel health and muscle density. Cardiac issues WILL follow suit staying on a diet like this for years.
I am still alive. Been following this for 40 years. BP 110/ 65, Cholesterol 107, Triglycerides 10. I would say your wrong in your prediction.
Which diet? He said 3 that get cycled.
