Those who made a decision that can no longer contribute much more to the plot, simply left; and those who could no longer contribute to the film before the most important moment, simply died. All those who appeared and to the extent that they appeared, had the right role, with a very adequate function for the operation of the plot. Imagine if Gilgamesh had been alive during the final battle, then he and Phastos would have been enough to kill Ikaris. Imagine if Sprite had died before the final battle, then Ikaris would have failed much faster, since Sersi could have started using her power against the Celestial much sooner, and without physical damage, which could make his power work more effectively.
That's what I love about this story!! They all have flaws! They can relate to humans because everyone has flaws, humans and eternals alike. I think that's why the eternals finally had a change of heart
I think I clicked the most with Ikaris, honestly. Just that weight of him being the only one to know what their true purpose is, and being afraid of such a big change, and if they were to disobey the Celestials, I'm sure he worried a lot about the repercussions of their actions. He was definitely misunderstood, (and I don't mean misunderstood like how Falcon kept saying that Karli girl in TFATWS was "misunderstood" her and her terrorist group killed plenty of innocent people, not the same thing here lol) I'm sure the weight of all these thoughts were mentally draining and stressful on him.
i was literally rooting for ikaris in the final fight, cuz earth (and all the other planets if they convince the other eternals to do the same) will eventually die out and with no new celestials, no new planets. no new planets, no universe.
Same I was with ikaris aswell it’s just a force of nature but at the same time I’m biased because it’s my home planet so obviously I dnt want it destroyed
I feel like stopping the emergence is the wrong thing..Earth will die one day one way or another and the emergence supposed to bring celestial to create a lot more planets like earth, but eternals let their feelings get in the way. Perhaps there’s more to it as idk anything about eternals from the comics.
But what's the point of creating more planets like earth if they just kill everyone living on it all the time, and the cycle repeats? The only reason is the birth of a new Celestial, but why do more Celestials need to be born? Why are their births more important than the planets' populations being allowed to live?
@@matthewk4912 I guess depends on how often they emerges but seems like not often like earth been around estimated over 4billions years already, even without emerge, earth will die off itself sooner or later so better to emerge and create many more planets to strive for billions of years and repeat the cycle..
Imagine Bucky shooting down the bad guys and then gets overrun by them. Ikaris shoots laserbeam from his eyes and offers his hands to Bucky. Spider-Man comes in between the scene and calls Ikaris “Bucky” and Ikaris gives him a dirty look.
@Blustar_5 sacrifice few billion to creat trillions more yeah earth would die but other planets would be born, that planets could have been better than earth but we'll newer know
@Blustar_5 earth will die eventually and if that celestial was born trillions of lives would start we are talking about thousands of planets, sacrificing one planet (which is gonna die in couple of centuries) for thousands of new planets doesn't sound so bad for me
@Blustar_5 yes. It's not like humanity is some unbelievable race or something, anyway earth will end in some time. Why waste the opportunity to create millions of more planets?
@Blustar_5 Yes because we will all die anyway. No way around it. You can even die just crossing the street or with a virus. That's life. And if sacrificing the earth is what it takes to create more planets and more lives then so be it. This is the cycle of life. No human is immortal. Everyone will die including the earth one day.
Ikaris is the best eternal, the rest of them were just cry babies dressed up screwing everything up. But he actually embodied an eternal. Staying on his mission and not being distracted. Really hope they bring him back in other mcu projects
Great idea. Never thought of it before but since Ikaris's memories are kept in The Forge they could build another. And then he becomes a complication in Sersei's new relationship with Black Knight? Or not. Lots of potential any way. Thanks for the video.
Ajak is more of a villain, as she has let this happen on Millions of other worlds in the past and never thought to stop it, but at almost the last minute she decided to change her mind, even after nearly 7000 years of being willing to kill all of humanity. Given time Ikaris could have changed too, but there wasn't enough time. The movie should have been a movie series to flesh out the characters, their ideals and morals, and that's the real villain of the movie.
Luckily Ikaris is still covered by his Manufacturer's Warranty since it exceeds 7,000 years. All they need to do is contact Prime Celestial Arishem the Judge for a replacement or possibly just repair the heat damage. :) Haha anyways, it's late that's my excuse for a bad joke, I'd liked to add that I really enjoyed this video, it makes the movie better too. Keep it up!
Ikaris deserves a redemption arc. Families have problems, and when one’s faith and purpose are removed, people act in different ways. People, Androids, maybe Wizards too.
I have to say, I do find it kinda funny how some people have said that Marvel could probably do Superman better than what WB has recently done with him, yet when Marvel does have their own Superman counterpart- they end up making him kind of the bad guy. Lol.
Because Marvel never ever had a character like Superman. They could never understand what Superman is. Superman is a symbol more so than a Marvel-esque ultra-relatable hero. From afar. Up close, he is one of the most human superheroes ever. This weird dichotomy of Superman, where Clark Kent is not, in fact, a disguise, but neither is Superman, he is both, he is a kind and loving human with all the human emotions and other imperfections, but also the symbol of hope. Also, it's been a horrible trend as of late to make a Superman rip-off and make him evil. Amazon handled it well. Everyone else just keeps failing, most of all Injustice, even though it has an actual version of Superman. At least Ikaris makes sense and isn't truly "evil", more so broken and loyal to his mission.
Ikaris was that type of "I betrayed, killed and learned my mistake" type of villain. Thena had some "messed up mind" issues but she wasn't evil. Ikaris was blinded by his duty and he because a villain only for some time to end up as someone who realize his mistakes and instead of keep killing for the purpose, he decided to kill himself so that he wouldn't kill the others. Idk if a sun extreme heat can wipe an eternal from existence but Ikaris deserve a return to fix his mistakes (or at least somehow be redeemed). However, the red Celestial would know which Eternal have died so he would recreate Ikaris to continue his mission (the forge).
ok listen to me For thousands of years Ajax told ikaris what his purpose was, he couldn't stay with Sersi even though he loved her as he would have eventually told her the truth and that would have broken her heart so he spared her the pain, he sacrificed his own happiness by doing what he was told. For eons he was alone and sad with the hope in the next planet he could be with sersi and his family but SEVEN DAYS BEFORE the emergence Ajax tells him they have to the stop it. Everything he did was right, Earth would die one day one way or another and the emergence supposed to bring celestial to create a lot more planets like earth, but eternals let their feelings get in the way. He did what he was supposed to, the OTHER ETERNALS let THEIR FEELINGS come in the way and went against their purpose and creator (Also i think he was scared to find out what would happen to the eternals if they betrayed arishem)
Ikaris betrayed the Eternals because he knows that they are not put on Earth to save humanity...but to keep Earth safe for the emergence of the Celestial Tiamut
Eternals was okay, but I really didn't want Ikaris to die at the end. I've always liked him, particularly in the comics. It would've been great to see him join the new Avengers, allowing him to make up for his past deeds and undergo character growth.
I feel they didn’t betray him either considering for the last 7000 years they were told their mission was to protect humanity and Ajax their leader told them to go and build their lives and find their place that’s exactly what they did they were the ones betrayed
That's the ebst justification for having Ikaris as the villian I've heard. Thank you. As for evil Supermen, I'm done with the concept. Injustice played it out. Great video and once again, thank you.
He's not a villan, I wouldn't even consider him the antagonist, that would go to the rest of the Eternals (and then Ikaris as well at the end). Ikaris has a very important mission to carry out from the "Celestial" Arishem to help expand the universe. This is a natural process that helps manifest new/more resources and life forms. Who are the Eternals to get in the way of this process? They are, who I consider, to be the villains in this situation.
For the record, Arishem is a liar. The original betrayal is his lies. That’s why Tiamut hates him. Which is likely why Arishem allowed the Celestials to kill him off.
I don't really have much faith in humanity so if this was a real world scenario, I wouldn't care much because at least my death would cause billions of trillions more to live.
He is not a traitor.hes just doing his job. and other eternals just fell inloved with earth and its people . if not so they were al in this together letting humanity gone instinct. Ikaris is actually the most loyal to the celestials ..
I really don’t think Ikaris betrayed the other Eternals on purpose, because his eyes were glitching just like Thena’s when she wasn’t her true self. So I think 💭 that’s a possibility as well…
You can't really fully blame him or agree with him. Because (Please read the full comment before replying) They exist for Arishem and the Celestials. They're duty and the entire reason for their existence, powers, and immortality was to serve. Ikaris knew his purpose like the others. He was also very loyal and true to his master. He lived for his responsibilty. From his perspective -there is no greater reason than to live for the greater scheme and fulfill his duty. The Celestials made life possible. It is they who shaped the history of living beings and they naturally have power to do so. You can't really rebel against your creator and live for your personal joy. Making a Celestial emerge for it to make a new star for a new galaxy to be created and continue the expansion of life compared to your feelings is a very huge thing. Every Eternal but him chose to live and protect the world they got attached to for so many years. I don't blame them. They're not wrong to do that. But to ikaris it was going against the sole purpose of your existence and betraying your creators for a grand scheme to create new lives. (but I'm not gonna defend him. Because sacrificing others lives for your duty is NOT a good thing.) (To summarize. They betrayed each other.) I'm just scared what Arishem's judgement will be. We are a bit far from salvation.
What confused me is the fact that during the emergence, nobody on avengers bats an eye lol like did y'all not detect this big ass earthquake coming out of nowhere 😂
It seams like Marvel is going with the idea of the short term villain will actually turn out to be the long term hero. Look at Thanos. When Infinity war and end game came out it was like Yep he is definitely the big bad guy. But now with so much speculation of possible a multiverse war, the celestial egg in earth, and the Ikaris incident. It seams like that soon Marvel will make it so that Thena and her group will turn out to be the villains for not letting the order of the universe keep turning.
Ikaris was definitely right. The survival of Earth is not worth it. The Celestials are too important to the universe, you can’t just kill one to save one little planet and potentially stop the development of several other planets
Eternals was the Trolley problem on a cosmic level - save one that you love by sacrificing a dozen strangers? Planets or individuals, the dilemma is the same. And I, for one, never found a satisfying answer for the problem. I hope and expect to see Ikaris and all ten Eternals (even Ajak and Gilgamesh) in Eternals 2. Which I really, really, hope to see, despite the backlash the movie got.
I have to correct you there is already a story of evil superman its the video game and comics called in Injustice and superman killed a lot people including his super hero friends
In 0 A.D. before Ikaris broke-up with Sersi, Ikaris could have said to Phastos, "hypothically, can you build machines to shrink/unshrink and safely move a Celestial through a planet?" and then Ikaris can bet Phastos to build the machines. If before asking the question, Ikaris swears Phastos to secrecy about the question and the machines: can Ikaris trust Phastos to keep what they are doing for 2,000+ years a secret from Ajax and the other Eternals?
Yes your right on with your analysis of Ikaris. I hope we haven’t seen the end of him. Is Arishem’s design such a bad thing? Creating billions of lives! Whar makes Earth so special to sacrifice the greater good?
Wait until they make a film based on Irredeemable, the Plutonian is much worse then Omni-Man and Homelander. But yes, having Ikaris return would be awesome.
Ikaris flying into the sun doesn't prove hes dead tbh, for instance superman can fly into the sun to repower, perhaps ikaris put himself into exile in the sun instead of "killing" himself
I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews about Eternals, and I understand why everyone is explaining the good, but I'm about to explain the worst thing about Eternals in 6 words: It Doesn't Follow The Source Material.
Life in the Universe existed far before Earth. Celestials help create life by ending life on a small scale. It the way life works here on Earth, if anything the other Eternals stood in the way of progress.
It’s almost like Thanos was right the entire time…. He slowed multiple emergences all across the universe by erasing half of all life. But the Avengers just couldn’t handle it, and brought everyone back and gave the sudden spark of energy that made the emergence on Earth possible. So in closing, Thanos was right and the Avengers are the problem.

Ajax was truly the one that betrayed them all but not telling them the truth from the start they all have flaws
That's what I love about this story!! They all have flaws! They can relate to humans because everyone has flaws, humans and eternals alike. I think that's why the eternals finally had a change of heart
If only she didnt deceived them, all of this wouldnt happened tbh
If Ikaris doesn't come back... then I don't want it. I loved Ikaris and I LOVE the idea of a redeption, Ikaris reborn. He needs to come back.
I think I clicked the most with Ikaris, honestly. Just that weight of him being the only one to know what their true purpose is, and being afraid of such a big change, and if they were to disobey the Celestials, I'm sure he worried a lot about the repercussions of their actions. He was definitely misunderstood, (and I don't mean misunderstood like how Falcon kept saying that Karli girl in TFATWS was "misunderstood" her and her terrorist group killed plenty of innocent people, not the same thing here lol) I'm sure the weight of all these thoughts were mentally draining and stressful on him.
ikaris just a man who really committed with his job
I think "VILLIAN" is an oversimplification
It really is. He’s misguided by his devotion to Arishm. The emergence was like his idea of fulfilling his purpose.
@@shepherdstar14 he was told to do something and he didn't fall through
I mean he's KINDA like soldiers in our world, just following instructions
i was literally rooting for ikaris in the final fight, cuz earth (and all the other planets if they convince the other eternals to do the same) will eventually die out and with no new celestials, no new planets. no new planets, no universe.
Same I was with ikaris aswell it’s just a force of nature but at the same time I’m biased because it’s my home planet so obviously I dnt want it destroyed
Same! I loved Ikaris
You’re not wrong, in the grand scheme of things, Earth’s population is just a small price to pay for something new being created within the universe.
This all is wrong. He is not a God to take this decision, neither the Celestials. This self proclaimed fake Gods too. Evey life is special.
@@vencislavgynev8282 The celestials are gods, they're literally necessary to make new life and new universes
Ikaris will be back and he definitely will be redeemed

He doesn't need redemption
@@pedrorojas0116 ok 🙂
@@pedrorojas0116 True. He doesn't need redemption because he stayed true to himself as an Eternal. The others must be punishefd.
He already had a "redemption arc" he helped stop the celestial
@@emptyblank099a True. 🙂
They stopped it because they are not serial killers if they didn’t stop it that would be mass genocide
Like the mad Titan once said, "the hardest choices, requires the strongest wills"
@@iceking2135 not serial killers, it's just a force of nature
@@matthewk4912 I guess depends on how often they emerges but seems like not often like earth been around estimated over 4billions years already, even without emerge, earth will die off itself sooner or later so better to emerge and create many more planets to strive for billions of years and repeat the cycle..
He’s too good of a character. He must come back
Imagine Bucky shooting down the bad guys and then gets overrun by them. Ikaris shoots laserbeam from his eyes and offers his hands to Bucky. Spider-Man comes in between the scene and calls Ikaris “Bucky” and Ikaris gives him a dirty look.
That would be great
He was right, sad to see that the guy who was right being portrayed as the villain
@Blustar_5 sacrifice few billion to creat trillions more
yeah earth would die but other planets would be born, that planets could have been better than earth but we'll newer know
@Blustar_5 earth will die eventually and if that celestial was born trillions of lives would start we are talking about thousands of planets, sacrificing one planet (which is gonna die in couple of centuries) for thousands of new planets doesn't sound so bad for me
@Blustar_5 yes. It's not like humanity is some unbelievable race or something, anyway earth will end in some time. Why waste the opportunity to create millions of more planets?
@Blustar_5 Circle of life
@Blustar_5 Yes because we will all die anyway. No way around it. You can even die just crossing the street or with a virus. That's life. And if sacrificing the earth is what it takes to create more planets and more lives then so be it. This is the cycle of life. No human is immortal. Everyone will die including the earth one day.
Anyone who has flying. laser eyes. and super strength is officially becoming a villain at one moment.
Ikaris is the best eternal, the rest of them were just cry babies dressed up screwing everything up. But he actually embodied an eternal. Staying on his mission and not being distracted. Really hope they bring him back in other mcu projects
I didn't want Ajak to die, such a heartbreaking moment😭😭😭
Great idea. Never thought of it before but since Ikaris's memories are kept in The Forge they could build another. And then he becomes a complication in Sersei's new relationship with Black Knight? Or not. Lots of potential any way. Thanks for the video.
I very much like to see ikaris again
Haha anyways, it's late that's my excuse for a bad joke, I'd liked to add that I really enjoyed this video, it makes the movie better too.
Keep it up!
ajak took everything away from him by saying the truth only to him and asking him to keep that as a secret from his family and his wife.
Ikaris deserves a redemption arc. Families have problems, and when one’s faith and purpose are removed, people act in different ways. People, Androids, maybe Wizards too.
I wish ajack did not die cause she is the first mcu character with the ability to heal.
for everyone saying ikaris was wrong, technically, what eternals did was to prevent other worlds from existing.
Hero’s that become villains are always more bad ass
"love is the death of duty, and duty is the death of love"
ok listen to me
For thousands of years Ajax told ikaris what his purpose was, he couldn't stay with Sersi even though he loved her as he would have eventually told her the truth and that would have broken her heart so he spared her the pain, he sacrificed his own happiness by doing what he was told. He did what he was supposed to, the OTHER ETERNALS let THEIR FEELINGS come in the way and went against their purpose and creator
(Also i think he was scared to find out what would happen to the eternals if they betrayed arishem)
MCU needs to bring Ikaris back he is a great character for them moving forward
He didn’t kill himself for what he had done, he did it because he betrayed Arishem. That’s better for me.
I would like to have Ikaris back
Ikaris betrayed the Eternals because he knows that they are not put on Earth to save humanity...but to keep Earth safe for the emergence of the Celestial Tiamut
screw this, he didnt betray shit, ajak started it, he stood by his duty
I don't care... I won't let them let a giant golem kill me before I get a boyfriend..
Very kewl story line can't wait to watch this now love it
I was walking up into that movie theater saying ima like ikaris but he’s still cool ending was good
That's the ebst justification for having Ikaris as the villian I've heard. Thank you. As for evil Supermen, I'm done with the concept. Injustice played it out. Great video and once again, thank you.
Eternals are very interesting characters. They have a big role for Marvels next Avengers movie. Ikaris is dead so Thena is now the strongest eternal.
Humans wouldn't exist if Ajak decided to stop the emergence for the other planets.
No ikaris is the villain
For the record, Arishem is a liar. The original betrayal is his lies.
That’s why Tiamut hates him. Which is likely why Arishem allowed the Celestials to kill him off.
Ikaris is the best character and now they killed the future. Smh
So I think 💭 that’s a possibility as well…
It was actually pretty expected, there’s like 7 evil Supermen. They extremely popular rn
I believe Ikarus was well played, and I hope they bring him BACK!!
Ikaris could fly in space this entire time. He never used this ability to kill any of the eternals with. lol
You can't really fully blame him or agree with him. Because (Please read the full comment before replying)
They exist for Arishem and the Celestials.
Because sacrificing others lives for your duty is NOT a good thing.)
(To summarize. They betrayed each other.)
I'm just scared what Arishem's judgement will be. We are a bit far from salvation.
Bring me Ikaris... (Good one this time) !!!
He could be a shift changer in captain Marvel. I don't know anything about all these characters comics, that's what I think
Ikaris was wrong
i would love to see ikaris back
Eternals was the Trolley problem on a cosmic level - save one that you love by sacrificing a dozen strangers? Planets or individuals, the dilemma is the same. And I, for one, never found a satisfying answer for the problem.
I hope and expect to see Ikaris and all ten Eternals (even Ajak and Gilgamesh) in Eternals 2. Which I really, really, hope to see, despite the backlash the movie got.
I have to correct you there is already a story of evil superman its the video game and comics called in Injustice and superman killed a lot people including his super hero friends
He didn't. They betrayed him.
It's because of love, one can go
against everything to protect it.
And because of love there is war.
Ikaris is the best character and now they killed the future.
I secretly keep hoping even though it may not happen Ajak and/or Gilgamesh will come back
In 0 A.D. before Ikaris broke-up with Sersi, Ikaris could have said to Phastos, "hypothically, can you build machines to shrink/unshrink and safely move a Celestial through a planet?" and then Ikaris can bet Phastos to build the machines. If before asking the question, Ikaris swears Phastos to secrecy about the question and the machines: can Ikaris trust Phastos to keep what they are doing for 2,000+ years a secret from Ajax and the other Eternals?
Great content. Too many flash cuts though. Hurts my brain
Yes your right on with your analysis of Ikaris. I hope we haven’t seen the end of him. Is Arishem’s design such a bad thing? Creating billions of lives! Whar makes Earth so special to sacrifice the greater good?
Ikaris stayed true to his purpose which was to ensure the birth of a celestial. The others are the ones who changed
Bring him back to her. Love withstands everything 💕
Wait until they make a film based on Irredeemable, the Plutonian is much worse then Omni-Man and Homelander.
But yes, having Ikaris return would be awesome.
He should come back to show how rise from despair
Ikaris flying into the sun doesn't prove hes dead tbh, for instance superman can fly into the sun to repower, perhaps ikaris put himself into exile in the sun instead of "killing" himself
Yes bring him back he was my favorite
When I first saw arshim I legit thought he was gonna squish Ajak in his hand 0_0
how come ikaris betrayed them? he only want to do what they was supposed to
It's trend nowadays first show someone as Superman then make him homelander.
They killed the eternals smh he is the best character. Smb
Amazing analysis.
I understand Ikaris, but I lost respect when he killed Ajak and fed her to the deviants.
Brutal.
I'm seeing a lot of mixed reviews about Eternals, and I understand why everyone is explaining the good, but I'm about to explain the worst thing about Eternals in 6 words: It Doesn't Follow The Source Material.
I bet he'll be back, with a new body remade in the World Forge and his memory reset.
I can relate to Icarus. People around me always forget why they were there. I remember everything and ended up being the asshole
Life in the Universe existed far before Earth.
Celestials help create life by ending life on a small scale.
It the way life works here on Earth, if anything the other Eternals stood in the way of progress.
I think a good scene fight of ikaris with superman and you will win?
Bring him, ajak, and Gilgamesh all back. New bodies. New chances
Because the avengers knew about this right ? Thanos didn't even bring it up to them.
He should return for Eternals 2
