Say hello to the new Porsche Cayenne!
Porsche’s flagship SUV has had a mid-life facelift, and Mat’s about to see just what’s changed compared to the previous edition, while also seeing if it can compete with market leaders such as the BMW X5.
When it comes to the design, it’s not overly different to the previous generation, given it’s only a mid-life facelift. Around the back, you’ll find a thinner full-length light bar, along with some updated exhaust designs. Alloy wheels now start at 20 inches instead of 19, rising up to 22 inches. But step around the front and this is where the biggest design changes can be found. There’s an all-new bonnet with creases sweeping along the front, along with an all-new bumper and grille, flanked by thinner Matrix LED headlights. All things considered, it looks pretty smart!
Step inside and the traditional Porsche quality is clear to see. There’s leather throughout the cabin (although this car does have the extended leather package added!), and everything feels well-built and sturdy. There’s a fully redesigned centre console, and thankfully Porsche has retained the physical climate control buttons. There’s a fully redesigned digital dial display, and a large infotainment screen which is pretty easy to use. This edition also comes with a third screen for the front seat passenger built into the dash!
There are a load of engine choices available. If you’re keeping it petrol-only, you can pick up the Cayenne S with either a 3-litre V6 with 353hp or a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 with 474hp. If you want a plug-in hybrid, two options come with the 3-litre V6 and an electric motor to deliver 470hp or 519hp. The range-topper is the Cayenne Turbo, which combined the 4-litre V8 with an electric motor to put down 739hp.
There’s only a slight issue though - it’s not cheap! The entry-level Cayenne starts at around £70,000, easily rising to over £100,000 for the range-topper with a couple of options added! So is it worth it? Stick with Mat and see for yourself!

Dear God, save the western countries from islam😢😢😢
😂 ignore the bot
Where’s the new Duster?
When can we expect a test of the new Panamera?
Mat why does every new car have something bad about it
Car manufacturers: I will put a special film in the passenger display so the driver can not see it.
Also, car manufacturers: I will put 3 displays and move every single important and frequently used function inside a menu in that display so the driver has to look at those displays while driving. 🤪
That is such a great point. 😂
Yuck. Ugly front end Porsche, c'mon.
It's a polarizing film. It lets through light waves of specific polarization one way and the other the other way. It works on the same principal as 3D glasses, which simply are 2 polarizing lenses. I first saw this feature on Top Gear in 2009 when they showcased the new Range Rover
12v socket between to cup holders. What could go wrong?
11:11 the poor crew member in the back ground cleaning up Mat's water mess from the dash is truly hilarious
The Cayenne on EV mode apparently accelerated slower than 1989 Miata.
Well spotted. I went back to look. I wonder if we've missed anything else like this in other videos
it's scripted.
@@MrRobix13no shit
Poor crew member
Those wheels are criminal 💀
Yeah, they're the ice on the cake when it comes to design. Poorly inspired
You can pay extra to get better looking wheels, unless these are the winter wheels.
wheels are nice - clean, classy and not oversized and not black. Prefer this kind of style over aero-two tones-dimond cut bs makers like to put on cars recent years
i much prefer a simple silver wheel with a fat tire, all cars come with donk wheels these days
For 100k car those are worse wheels I’ve seen.
It's unbelievable how expensive cars have become, people really need to stop buying them at these over inflated prices, it's just nuts!
But unfortunately they don't so Porsche keeps on exploring how far it can go with its ludicrous price-setting and options policy before its customers back away...
This is a Porsche, it was never meant to be not expensive
And we don't have money, is hard to survive in this conditions day a day 😢
@@hovanesmarkaryan896 i think he meant all cars in general
No-one "buys" cars anymore. Its all Lease etc. A bank buys it and lends it to you for a monthly fee
How a company can design 911 and this at the same time its crazy
They designed 911 and Cayenne Turbo in a flash. Thats why.
Yeah its completely different departments. But this new cayenne isn't a good look for the 992.2. Worst looks, more expensive, digital tach, cheap ass climate controls.
This is literally a 911 just bloated up lol
Engineers are not the same, but the marketing department is what is common 😂
If it weren't for "this", we wouldn't have any 911 since long ago.
Porsche didn’t like all the positivity around last week’s X5 review 😂
Dear God, save the western countries from islam😢😢😢

You're definitely not getting your moneys worth for £101k. Soo many missing features at that price.
My 1996 Toyota Yaris has more features than this car, like cigarette lighter and CD player
@@maximuswong3092Cigarette lighter and CD player... Did you make it to 2024 like the rest of us? Or did you get stuck somewhere along the way
@@alternativ7171 good question.
The fact that you can get a horrible plastic dash on a 100k+ euro car is absolutely mental
And the amount of plastic trim on the exterior…for £70k?? Egregious
Big Chinese "reset" is coming, just wait a little.
No dials in a 100k car but at least you get a touchscreen that performs worse than a 8 year old ipad!
TBF every vw group car should have the slogan "cheap plastic is fantastic" 😂
Who cares mate? I'm not living in my car unlike you
£100k for an SUV with plastic dashboard and manually adjustable steering column that looks like an earlier version that can be picked up for a few thousand pounds?!
Everything now is paid extras.
Leather dash - £5k
Automatic adjustable steering - £900
Even buttons on the steering wheel to play music is added extra
It’s madness after you finish the spec, £100k turns to £115k
Like on my V6 Macan, colour matched stiching was in the extended leather option. now on the new electric (sad) Macan, it's £2000 to change the color of the stiching. just the colour as the stiching will be there anyway. Crazy. Rip off master class.
Germans be finessing them. might aswell be a Landcruiser
@@Elevate_Gwell 78.97 percent of those properties now are paid extras.
Exactly. It’s a joke and an easy pass. Really lazy poor effort by Porsche
The costs cutting on this £101K car is actually mind fucking blowing. What the hell is Porsche doing?
It's called extorsion !!
It's the investment into EVs and the hybrid battery tech. That's why, BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz are also cutting corners.
1:52 "Completely redesigned front bumper" proceeds to look exactly the same
Lol
literally what I came for, like what? I did not see ANY difference. If stuff is moved around a few cm, you cannot notice that.
not all the 2018-23 Cayennes had that big from bumper. I had a base model one that was very thin and slim …seems like the big front bumper is standard now, well, seems like that around LA
Anyone else get annoyed on behalf of the Deddington residents when Mat does his turning circle test lol
Thats very interesting fact that 2024 Cayenne weighed heavier than even Buick GNX.
No.
Nop
Carwow should buy the town, or make a replica, just like Brookside Close.
Just wish I saw him to give him a wave! 🙂👋
Me watching with less than 3000$ in bank account
Don't sweat it, you'll be able to buy one of these for that much in five years or so ;)
Looks boring
Yup
?????????
Yeah
But if it was a X5, you'd say it's a good looking.
@@VelionaMorriethe x5 is arguably the best looking suv on the planet, so yes he would likely say the x5 is good looking lol
I kinda liked acid green logo and brake calipers. And it looks like you can't even add in the configurator
Its an option I liked it and went for it on mine
Me too, it was a nice touch.
Jesus the price of it is crazy
For me the x5 and cayenne are top of the tree in this class. The big issue is Porsche and their options list 😭 you end up spending 10k minimum on top of the asking price just to get an average spec
Looks extremely cheap for the pricetag
The person controlling the camera should stop moving about randomly, especially when Mat is highlighting something. It's doing my head in.
Definitely. Moving randomly may also caused problems for the one driving the car for sure.
Agreed, he needs to send you a personal apology and beg for your forgiveness.
They think it makes it look posh and fancy. We're looking at cars here, calm down carwow crew
@@TerbrugZondolopwhy be so passive-aggressive over constructive feedback?

I’m a Porsche fan, but I have to admit, the X5 seems like a better car than this.
Been waiting 9 months for this face lift review, thx matt! Pls do the Cayenne S E hybrid coupe also, cheers!
Lol. Keep waiting mate.
When you drag race the cars, you must include the crossing speed at the end of the race as well.
Not all cars reach the same speed when they cross the line.
With times the loosing car reach a much higher crossing speed.
Will you do a review on the cayenne turbo e hybrid with gt package?
What about the Cayenne engine swap?
He 100% will
I really like that Porsche still keeps its Desgin classic and doesnt go too much mondern with their cars
And also keeping their signature engines without overly focused on EV engines.
and without an egregious grill.
But somehow the older 2007 one looks 20 times better.
Porsche design philosophy is horrible. They cayenne looks so cheap. Like a bulbous ugly vw.
I'm surprised car brands still lend press cars to Mat after the way he treats them. 😅
It makes really poor impression honestly. I appreciate the humor but still he should have more respect.
The newer looks older
On PHEV models you can operate electrically and slosh fuel
and build pressure. Locked fuel door requires you push the button and the tank will vent to the bigger charcoal canister and the unlock when pressure is gone. Otherwise a risk of burping fuel and fire could result (smokers don't put out cigs and could get burned).
hi @mattwatson , does this mean this updated can also be seen in the Q7 & TOUREG ...
1:31 - getting the black plastic wheel arch trim to *line-up* , and a centre console that's well-made (4:45) would have been nice . . . . . esp if you're paying £102,000 !
Mmmmm, good look with all this, when its 12yrs old !
I don't get the complaints of reviewers about non electric steering wheel or seat adjustments.. I get it from a price perspective. But not only are those usually way faster to do manually, it saves massive weight (these motors are up to several kilos) but also is another part that won't fail in case of electricity issues...
Glad I went for a second hand gen 3 turbo a few months ago , it’s hardly changed really and actually prefer the old interior over the new one . The road handling is on a different level though … definitely some clever trickery going on !
Lol the guy cleaning up your mess at 11:10 in the front seats😆
Love your content mate keep it up 👍
What is that cockpit, it feels like the trim on top is missing
The cockpit in 2024 Facelifted Cayenne looked like its cutted off like Shelby Series 1.
i thought it looked odd but i couldn’t put my finger on it
@@purwantiallan5089 Shelby Series 1 has different shape of cockpit than Cayenne
FYI: e-hybrid models have the "deletion of green accents" option for both this model and the previous.
I worry about the ICE kicking in when required and it is cold, no engine oil circulating and all of a sudden it gets a shed load of revs. Normally you would get the engine up to temperature and all the oil circulating before giving it the wellie.....
The “lime green” could have been removed in the previous model as a free option. The Cayenne mat was reviewing has that option.
Feel sooo cheap for +100k
For some reason I still prefer the Macan
@4:38 Does that reflective centre console reflect sunlight into your eyes when the sun hits it at just the right angle?
Manual adjustment often seems better to me as you can feel the position of the wheel/seat as you move it.
I see you also optioned in The check engine light
Matt, when you launched in electric only mode it is possible to press the accelerator until you feel a little resistance, this will fill the electric bar and give you full torque of the electric, 0-60 time will be less than you demonstrated.
4:22 Note to self, cheap manual adjustment steering wheel in a Porsche makes Matt go all Cockney innit bruv ?
For all the times Mat is going on about 'scratchy plastics in the cabin which are a terrible shame'.. Not a word about the plastic backs of the front seats. In a +100k car with all the bells and whistles?
The manual adjusters of the steering are better in my opinion, much quicker to operate to get your perfect position
After owning two X5’s with quit some issues along the years , my current ride is the Cayenne 2019 e-hybrid. So far the best SUV I have owned . In a few months I’m receiving my new Cayenne e-hybrid , pretty sure it will not disappoint.

Love your vids Matt 🙌🏻
I bought the Cayenne 4.2 V8 diesel 18 months ago…best car I’ve ever had (and I’ve had a lot)…beautifully finished, fast AF, practical, roomy and a head turner….36mpg on a run and 0-60 in just over 5 seconds. The original owner coughed £83k for it, I handed him £33k with only 40k miles on the clock…that’s the way to do it!
Not everyone’s idea of a Porsche but….it’s their best selling model ever…tells you something!
That’s some serious price rises there. Wowsers! £60,000 sounds cheap nowadays that’s crazy!
Im thinking about getting the 992
Actually, having a manually adjustable steering column is better because it's easier and faster to adjust to your liking, having the hands on the wheel. The same good old way like with physical buttons and knobs instead of touch capacitors..
No it’s not. As it doesn’t remember and reset it for more than one driver with your memory seat settings.
@@Bigdoug2003 didn't know about this feature, memory profiles for it would be handy if multiple drivers are using the same car, agree.
@@glebpalchin6809 My other half and I share one car now, as both WFH. Having that and the memory seats makes it much easier for us, as I'm a foot taller than her!
@@Bigdoug2003 I have the same situation but we only use seat memory profiles, we are lucky that we have almost the same height, just different driving positions
Looks dated already.
💯 Couldn't agree more
It looks cheap af too
And the multiple screens do not even help make this old shell look modern!
Because the configuration it’s horrible bland.
Maybe spend the money on Powsche to buy a real Porsche.
interestingly all the quality metal fixtures on the previous model, e.g door handles, seat controls have become plastic, pity! Also the leather packages although more expensive are not as appealing IMO
We shouldn't tolerate things like:
- digital tachometers
- wobbling control panels
- nettings instead of proper pockets
- exposed cup holders front and rear
- windows not going down fully
- mechanical steering wheel adjustments
- hard plastic panels on the back of the front seats
- lack of isofixes on front seat
- painted/sticker logos on wheel hub center caps
- subscription services to things like automatic high beams or auto-parking
On cars that cost more than 50k - this is a scam and manufacturers are just testing how cheap they can go and how stupid we, the consumers, are...
Porsche, BMW, Mercedes - Germans in general need to be stopped with this non-sense cheap crap that they keep pumping for a premium price.
If I want a Vauxhall - I'll buy a Vauxhall. But if you give me Vauxhall disguised as Porsche - I will never come back to you.

No sane person is going to spend 75K let alone 100K! Be serious
I'm definitely not convinced that this car is worth that price. The BMW X5 and GLS seem more appealing. I feel like you're buying a VW Taureg here and paying more cause of the Porsche badge. Yeah.. I don't really think the changes and add ons to this facelift Cayenne justify that steep of a price increase.

I agree, and if you want a v8 you can buy sq7
non of the German cars are, they are lease throw away
Merc feels like cheap gbage inside. Fake vents, fake noise, bad interior quality and way too overpriced. Sporty SUV = Pornsche.
The comparable Mercedes is the GLE not GLS
Matt the fuel tank has to be vented on hybrids before it opens as gases can build up if running the car via electricity for an extended time and explode in the drivers face when they open it. That’s why the fuel tank cover is locked!
Pmsl that you binned the 2007...that belonged to a former friend of mine just before you, he reckoned it was a classic and a massive investment 🤣

I like that manual steering adjustment.. no need electronic where its dont need..
said no one ever.
in a luxury expensive car? no need lol
I can see the appeal if you share the car and it has a memory function, but if you're the only one who ever drives the car I've never understood powered seats/wheel adjustment. You're only ever going to do it once.
My 16 Touareg has most of these features & more. Such a great budget car!
Great review on car, very informative!
The acid green accents is what sold me the previous versions. Absolutely love the contrast they created.
New one seems very.. “normal”.
Are you going to do an off road test with these? Feel like that should be a part of the review even if most people won't take it off road.
£100,000 does seem ridiculous, until you look at prices on some of the competition. Using that front passenger seat as a torture device was a brilliant bit. Don't think for a second Porsche didn't think of using it in that way. It reinforces the old mantra, "The back seat is the safest place in a car."
Only someone with more money than sense would buy that car.
It could save you a ton of money if you just avoid it 😂
You got me at the intro 😂
The Petrol cover is locked as the petrol tank is pressurised so the fuel doesn't go stale as it could be not used for very long time.
The manual steering wheel adjustment is good cuz it doesn't break, I'd take the manual seat too if possible
My dad's lexus with 350k kms has a power steering wheel and it works like new 🤷♂️

Over 100k, with manual steering adjustment, 20" wheels. That's disappointing...
Matt’s Cayenne is the best verison ever. I simply love that car!
The fact they haven't mirroed the icon order in the infotainment screen fof UK cars is insane.
very understandable. fuck uk's driving on the left
As an owner of a Porsche Cayenne, I am no doubt bias. Having said that, I can also say how it is to live with the car. First up, nobody would buy this car based on it making sense. Nor would you buy a BMW, Mercedes or Audi etc. These are all overpriced cars for getting from A to B. However, having owned an Audi, and BMW and now a Porsche, I can say that the Porsche is simply in a different category. It is like buying a Leica camera versus a Canon or Nikon. It is about the pure quality and the 'user experience'. If these do not matter to you then I agree that the Porsche may not be for you.
if you want value for money than a list of SUVs (or even more likely non SUVs) from Japan will be better options. However, it is simply a pleasure each day to just to sit in and drive a Porsche. Other cars are great too, but Porsche is special - expensive, but special all the same ..
Porsche: increases price by 20% with a facelift. You get a plastic dash and a manual steering wheel on a £100k car.
People don’t buy it.
Porsche: surprised Pikachu face.
Then increase prices further to make more money with less units.
I don't know about the UK, but here the base price increase is because you a get a lot more equipment as standard for 2024, like panoramic sunroof is standard now (again here where I live, idk about the UK). Decided against it because the dealer said I was gonna wait for at least 6-12 months to get one and every single one I saw on the road was driven by a woman
That's not how hybrid should be used on motorway. Set the NAV and the car will smartly use the battery along your trip (no matter how long is it). That's how it works with BMW at least. And that's how you achieve very good consumption on long trips on hybrid.
This spec is so boring
BMW X6 ❤
Sorry, but that is just a hideous car.
22:09 Why does the car still "shift gears" in electric only mode?
In the U.S. all cayennes are standard with an electronic movable steering column for the steering wheel. It’s a bit weird that the EU cars make that manual
Porsche still gets away with fleecing European customers extra. American customers indeed get an electric steering column as standard while it is not even an option in Europe. But standard equipment in the US also includes the privacy glass in the back, the lane change assist, the home link functionality, the comfort access and side airbags in the back. The base e-hybrid in the US starts at $93,350 while in Europe it starts, with less standard equipment, at over $117,000 depending on VAT. Porsche is increasingly taking its customers to the cleaners but in Europe even more so than in the US. Together with more and more cheap interior materials, an offensive options list and a presumptuous after-sales service, this has made me decide to stop being a Porsche customer after many years. You did this to yourself Porsche, not the competition...
@@kizmaiaz7671 yeah as a Porsche owner it’s sorta of embarrassing for them to slack off there standard equipment list in the EU even though they originate in Europe. Thankfully our cayenne is a U.S. model so we didn’t have to pay for those needs. What’s even more absurd is the fact the EU doesn’t even get any premium package or premium package plus. Everything is a la carte which drives the price up
A Macan looks way better.

how esy to take out Front headlights?
15:00 lol. In New Zealand, petrol is taxed at the pump, and diesels pay Road User Charges of $76/1000km. The government just introduced RUC's for EV and PHEV vehicles. So in NZ, the opposite is now true
with VW group, Audi seems to be the best trim to get… as they are always heavily discounted / keep good value / still feel posh enough
I actually liked lime backing of e-hybrid badge
oh yes the bmw electrically adjusting steering column is sooooo nice when doing laptop work on the go. put seat position memory number 2 with seat backed all the way and steering wheel all the way forward for max laptop comfort between appointments. kind of a bummer this Porsche doesnt have it. especially since a Cayenne is more of a daily driver kind of thing vs a 911 where a manual adjustment doesnt matter at all.
