Introducing the BLAMMO! Electronics Voltage Booster. This transistor based overdrive is based on the Power Boost and Overdriver circuits of the 70s, heard famously by the likes of Gilmour, Jeff Beck, T-Rex and many more. Two versions of this clean boost with 2-band EQ were offered back in the day, 9V and 18V which drastically changes the headroom, tone and fuzzy character of this pedal when cranked. With the Blammo Voltage Booster you get all the original tones of both versions, thanks to the same BC184L transistors and an internal charge pump that allows 9/18V from a standard 9V adaptor. Other upgrades include silent true bypass switching, a pedalboard friendly footprint and most importantly, a master volume which really helps you dial in those uncompressed overdrive tones without the use of diode clipping or op-amps. Like all Blammo Electronics, the Voltage Booster is meticulously crafted in Portland, OR with high attention to detail.

An amazing plot twist would be if Andy played bass with a pick.
Generally it’s fingerstyle but I’ve definitely played more picked bass than guitar 😄
This may be the most exciting pedal-based video to drop today.
How have I not heard of this blammo electronics… all pedals look SICK
I think Andy must dip his picking thumb in super glue. Killer demo as always!
the bass player in my old band used to do exactly that
Ur fingerstyle is INSANNNNEE dude like wtfff sick
Thanks for teaching me how to play “The Slider”!
Sold,ty Andy love your finger playing
A double whammo from Blammo! It's twice as nice with the dual voltage selector.
I'd be interested in a comparison video between the Blammo Voltage Booster and the Tru-Fi Colordriver.
The Tru-Fi is really great for the $$, it stands up to much pricier ones. One of my favorites is the old ProAnalog Power Driver, really outstanding.
@@sixbladeknife44 This one is actually about 10 dollars cheaper than the 18v version of the colordriver
Ya dude wtf literally had the tru fi one in a cart…. But now I’m screwed lol honestly kinda like this one… thoughts??
Sounds ridonkulously great. Fiyahhhhhh
Someones read The BFG.
Andy, the best part of playing guitar is... for experienced men, the sheer joy and confidence to blend into the sonic fold excellence... always considered. The channel and your approach is spot on, presented best. The BLAMMO! is a nice roll and break up. Thanks AndyDemos!
With the originals one of the tells that you’re using a 9 volter comes when you strum an overdriven chord and then let it decay. Once the guitar signal drops below a certain level you’ll hear a static-like artifact. The first few times this happens you might even think the pedal is misbehaving or you’ve got a bad cable. But that’s just how the circuit works at 9v. At 18v the static-y artifact is gone.
Spot on! 💥
Sounds SO good. Love the T Rex
I was expecting just another OD pedal, but this has a great character and stands out from the pack. Great playing and demo choices too, Andy!
Thanks! Yes, there isn’t any comparison to modern overdrives. This type of circuit has more in common with fuzz!
Sounds great, Andy. Loved your rendition of "The Slider."
That intro 🔥🔥🔥
Been watching your demos for a long time now. Awesome you got your own channel , stellar playing as always man 👍
I appreciate it!
what a great player Andy is. Fab stuff
This sounded really really good.
The Fuzzrocious 420 V2 fuzz also has a switchable voltage doubler.
Nice tones. ✊🏼
You make me want to buy everything you demo.
giving me some serious new old school vibes.
sounds like a pedal i want to use to play stuff like "Voyage to Proxima B" by Fungus Hill
Sounds great!
A vintage redtailguitarshop Burst sighting Very cool 😎
Blammo makes great pedals
Sounds good!
I remember getting the notification for this awhile back, but I’m just now watching it.
Blammo! makes amazing effects! I wish I could buy all their pedals.
I still use my Tomb Sender a lot. It does a lot more than some of my higher priced fuzzes.
Amazing as always, Andy. I got to put this on my wish list.
P.S. Were you playing this into a clean or dirty channel?
Glad you enjoyed the vid! I always demo through clean-ish single channel amps, they're loud enough to be on the edge of breakup.
Thanks!
wooooow this amazing brother...
M-hm, this IS some tasty playing!
Heard some Trex in there 😎
I’m a sucker for effects with higher voltages.
The gear is great but where do I get an Andy?
You can build clones of those pedals for under 50 bucks and they sound HUGE!! Just like the originals, I kid you not. No unicorn black magic here. I love em!!
Andy with the Wattplower
Sick tone!! What's the track at the beginning?
Thanks, it’s just a Jeff Beck-style tune!
Andy, you missed an opportunity to play the Blammo! "Log Song!" ...Joy!
I wonder how this pedal compares to all the others power booster clones
Killer
The decay in 9 volt mode reminds me of a Rat style pedal.
Edit: my JHS All American sounds a lot like this.
Took me about 4 minutes to realize he wasn’t using a pick lol…. Thought it was just some of the cleanest transitions ever until I was like ok come where the fuck is this thing
The sound going from 9 to 18 volts sound like it's boarders between hairy & fuzz, then greasy like Funk #49.
What’s the name of the first song andy played?
Sound like Jeff beck
Thanks, it's a demo tune that was definitely inspired by the track Led Boots!
@@AndyDemos ty man cheers to you and to jeff
Dude! I’m confused! This one is better or Tru Fi colour driver?
Think of it like buying a tube screamer variant, you just have choices. One may not be better than the other, just different. The benefit of the Blammo is the 9/18 voltage selection vs choosing one or the other with TruFi. Both sound amazing and accurate to an original.
New cme les paul? Nice
Thanks, It’s my dad’s Redtail guitar made from a ‘59 blueprint. I’ve had it for about 12 years!
@@AndyDemos that's so awesome, I'm a sucker for sunburst's and that one looks practically authentic, tell your dad to keep up the good work🔥
Good sounding pedal. But do you think the guy in the last row at the concert says "Wow, it's running at 18 volts!"?
You can say that for most gear! The playing experience between 9/18 is different and that has an effect on performance.
@@AndyDemos I run a King of Tone at 18V because I like the extra headroom. I use other pedals if I want more compression.
I bought this one about 2 years ago. I played it for about 10 minutes and haven’t used it since. I should’ve tried to return it. I guess I’ll have to give it a go again.
Can i get one before Dave Gilmour
TTTTREXXXXX!!!!!
interesting company
Andy ...lve always wondered ....what percent of people play guitar in the US?....I.e. how popular is guitar playing in society ...are you aware of any survey? Marketing analysis.....esp. electric guitarists.
Honestly, it sounds less like the 18v gives more headroom than it does the 9v has a compression circuit in the path which makes the 18v sound more expansive by comparison. The only thing '70s' sounding to me about it is it has that Champ through an AM transistor radio vibe, like, Lindsey Buckingham at 3am trying to nail that outro to Go your own way after sniffing the last of an 8 ball. Nothing flattering about it unless, of course, you just got kicked out of a Nirvana cover band for not being grunge enough.
