- Suzuki GSX-R 750 1985 - Une moto de course en pleine rue ? C’était juste cela et rien d’autre que la 750 GSXR proposait lors de sa première apparition au salon de Cologne 1984. Suzuki venait de se retirer du championnat du Monde d’endurance, mais la partie cachée de ce retrait était sous les yeux ébahis des visiteurs : la moto de course du Mondial allait directement descendre dans la rue.

che spettacolo...le moto che ammiravo da ragazzino e che sono ancora bellissime.
Still got mine. Still fun. The 1985 ones were a bit wobbly, something that Suzuki addressed by lengthening the wheelbase by adding a few links to the chain by 1986. The front brakes boil if you really push, less so if you take of the caliper dust caps. The front disks also warp after a period of abuse. Wash it if you've been out on salted roads. Not ideal for the school run. And that's about it really... the rest of the bike seems fairly immortal - if you use decent oil and service it regularly.

I never paid too much attention about the carbs being different. What I know of that bike is that the testers didn't like it very much - except on a track of course -
it didn't accelerate as quickly as the FZ750 despite the weight difference, fuel consumption was terrible and it was too harsh on the open road compared to the heavy opposition. The '88 or so model was very different to the '85
And yet, they dominated the superbike scene, taking 1st, 2nd & 3rd in many races around the world
I didn't understand a word so all I heard was, The original bad ass gixer is the slabby. Slabbies are bad ass & the most bad ass gixer ever made. They get there name from the bad ass slabsided panels. They run bad ass flatslide carbs as opposed to CV's on the less desireable slingshot. Anyone who owns a slabby is bad ass & will openly admit to being bad ass. The most bad ass biker on the road today is the many restored or well looked after bad ass slabsides.

As an FZ750 and GSX-R sladside owner i think the FZ750 was a better bike, it just didnt look as good.
