I’m almost 61 and I’m still listening to the Dead. Habits die hard! I was a 20 something college kid when I first got into them . From Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, PA where I was a student to see them at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY to Hartford, CT, Philly, etc. God Bless the Grateful Dead!
damn i was there too and how come now in hindsight we can all see the wear and tear on his face but every show we expected his best...we wore him down and i'm sorry for that...rip forever jerry
loved this song the first 5 seconds in.........such a good beat......never heard another quite like it......grateful dead always makes me relax a little and take a deep breath......smile on my face
Those happy days seem so long ago. We never dreamed back then about the violent wind that would blow through our homes. Oh well, guess we gotta just sweep that wind out of the house and get right back to good times! 😊💖
i was attending UNLV for all the vegas shows & having the circus come to town was a godsend. nothin' better than a drum circle on the strip & sunrise mountain behind the stage. oh yeah and JERRY IN SHORTS!!! thanx to UA-cam what happens in vegas doesn't always stay in vegas.
i went to richfield that year too! the snow-storm was the worst i ever drove in, and i'm from michigan. we stayed @ a holiday inn and had four rooms together with at least 25 of us in there. 1 room for sleep and 12 rooms for partying. the next night they played one of the BEST "brown eyed women" i ever heard. SNOWED SO HARD THAT THE ROOF CAVED IN! I still remember having to un-bury my car the next day.
My first show was Alpine Valley 1986 or 7 or 8. My last was Chicago 1995. Good grief, I miss it. This is an excellent proclamation of what I hold close to my heart.
Ramble on rose is definitely on the top of my list of all time greatest. Something about the song just touches me. I wish I got into this music earlier on in life. I guess its never too late to start. I love these guys
There are two things I love in life. The first is the Grateful Dead and each of it's members. The second...well, there's something else out there to love, I'm sure, but I've yet to find it. Someday...
I have been listening to the grateful dead since i was born and I love the way Jerry plays the guitar, nobody can play the guitar like Jerry, he is one of a kind.
Yes indeed. Loving the spinners. Takes me back to so many shows. At times, I would spend an entire show, sitting and watching them. One night, some lovely little beauty in the pavilion, at Pine Knob, mesmerized me so intensely, it was absolutely unforgettable. I'll always have the memory of watching her spin in that amazingly colorful dress. She seemed to dance on air.
This performance puts me in a great mood, love the dead one of the best and tightest bands ever. when there all on the ball playing it is amazingly good, up there with the stones, beatles, zeppelin, pink floyd , as one of the best ever no question. and this performance they are all on the ball, so good.
Take you to the leader of the band! Jerry your missed by so many of us. Cant believe its been 16 years already since you left us and carried on your way...thanks for enlightening all of us...settle down easy! Hopefully the grass is greener and the wine is sweeter where you are now!
im only 18 years old but i have seen the greatful dead play many times obviously jerry wasnt there god bless him. but i hear people arguing about the age a hippie has to be but i think a hippie can be any age as long as its in ur heart
This video makes me remember Summer 94 quite a bit . I had the fortune of seeing the July 21 in Noblesville and July 23 in Chicago The video shot on th screens , aside form the band was really kewl . I remember in the pre drums jams , drum circles and the like were shown etc Wew drove up to Deer creek in July from Iowa , and camped right next to some good partying buddies from Iowa City - and we were from Cedar Falls . Sinchronicity ..
i think this is the healthiest jerry was looking since, maybe 1977....his voice is strong too...wish he could have found a little more happiness in this life...
I see no pain in his face...i was at this show,it was HOT!..but Jerry and the boyz were ON.FIRE that nite..Jerry was upbeat and full of life!..check out the SMILE Jerry grins at 6:58...it puts a smile on my face and tears in my eyez..i love you Jerry..miss u always!..
thanks alot for these vegas clips, really good stuff for '94.jerry does look wicked old,he really aged hard at the end which i didn't realize at the time.i miss seeing him big time.just saw a woman named catherine russell open up for levon helm, she does a great version of new speedway boogie
That said i remember so many times when Jerry got real happy with the crowd..and really showed it..was first row a few times too..in late 70's and early 80's..my big mouth got US played in Detroit..at Cobo hall
I drove into the Richfield Coloseum's huge parking lot....that night, it was mayhem...hundreds of cars, and trucks\ spun out, collided, helter skelter...some people finally were shouting the show had been cancelled....As a consolation, WMMS radio simulcast the next night's concert live.
