My hubby of 24 years was in a coma he loved Jerry I played this song and his heartbeat got faster every time I played the song-Love my wonderful husband he passed on May 4, 2022. We will meet again! Love you Sean💙❤️💗
U will meet him open up ur heart & ears then u mite feel him doing whatever he can to get ur attention like shaking ur bed or touching ur face plus other things that the ghost can do after years of being gone ! They get stronger as the years go by ! Trust me I’ve experienced it all since I was 3 years old !
100% agree. Something magical happening on that side of the stage. I absolutely love the rest of them too, nothing bad to be said about any musician on that stage.
Man....If only I could have experienced a show. I hope everyone who did knows how truly lucky they are. If they can do to me what they do through recordings I could only imagine seeing it live! ✌
You are very wise to see the reality behind the videos and recordings, which by nature only capture parts of it. This one was an especially good video. I knew it was precious when it was happening, and I got to just as many shows as I could over 13 years until Jerry died. It was very profound; often an experience of group mind, and truly a better world. I am very lucky. But still, life moves forward, and there are some pretty amazing things happening today.
1989 was peak... Jerry was so on top of his game and obviously having the time of his life. His smile and the way he grooved on the stage.... Has to be one of the happiest times of his musical life.
I found the Dead when I got to high school in 1986. All my peers were listening to the hair metal of the day (Ratt, Poison, Motley Crue, Cinderella). Luckily, my buddy had an older brother who did the local community college's Dead Hour, playing bootlegs (cassettes, of course). Saw them 20+ times before Jerry passed. So thankful. The late 80s shows to me are precious. Brent was a force, and his Dear Mr. Fantasy vocals always raised goose bumps on me. RIP Jerry and Brent.
65Superhawk omg so lucky! I never had an opportunity to see them. I listened but grew up in a cult so I couldn’t go to shows. I’m so ***grateful***i can see them now 😄
@@bighippiechic8577 Sorry that you grew up in a cult. Happy that you now have the Dead to listen to. Listening to their music on videos and bands that now play their music always makes me feel better. No matter what.
I started high school in '87 and in my school, thank god, it was mostly Dead lovers. Saw them around 25 times. Orchard Park was my favorite place by far! Great vibes every time!
Listening to G D puts a smile on my face, a tear in my eye and music to fill my soul. Don't tell my hands and feet though, they are busy dancing! We miss you all.
I was lucky enuf to meet them both in NYC @ the after-concert party....Sept. 1989..I got an un-asked-for hug and kiss on the cheek from Brent. Jerry 'bout crushed my hand when I met him and he shook my hand...he didn't meant to hurt me, of course !
I can't imagine. I was born in 84 so too young lol. I really wish I had been about 10 years older to have seen them . I saw CSN open for Chicago in summer of 96 and it was my first real eye opening experience to hippies dancing along to the music. The vibe was really fun although it was a little shocking as an 11 yr old. Consider yourself lucky :)
We have a duty to continue to go further. After these posts I've read, people are suffering. What is important is the music. The music. There is nothing more American and patriotic than the Grateful Dead.
Growing up in the Philly area in the 80's there were so many musical adventures. With a Dead show every spring, summer & fall. Remembering this date is like looking at a wedding picture... so much time has passed, and so many friends with it. Forever Grateful for a youth well lived. "God Blessed the Grateful Dead"
Firing on ALL cylinders. Phil is killin' it, Bobby's locked in with spicy accents, Jerry's voice sounds strong and vibrant, then he busts out that crazy envelope-filtered solo! Help, I'm melting...in the very best way
This was my first show. I was 17 and got caught taking my parents car to the show with a parking ticket and was the first of many I got to see but I did finish high school and got a diploma I still haven't found a use for but definitely graduated here with honors 😄✌⚡NFA
I'm from Portugal, on the other side of the pond and I remember being 14-15 years old and loving the Grateful Dead. So what more is there to say ?? It's something that will always stay with me. :-)
I remember seeing people at shows in the hallways on payphones every once in a while.... i would eavesdrop a little bit out of curiosity... I mean, the band is on stage playing and they're talking on a payphone!... then I would hear their accent and realize they were far from home, and sharing the love of their live experience through the phone!

This was the year we went to as many east coast dead shows as time would afford us. And time did afford us plenty. Best year ever!
I've always felt that 1989 was the tour that the fans & band had hit equal velocity. Add that Brent & Jerry vibe & I can easily state that this was the most electrifying tour thhat i had personally ever witnessed.

i remember this... last show at JFK stadium... It was so damn hot, still.. it was a rainbow full of sound. I'm somewhere in the Phil Zone, only 15 yrs old, lost in the sunshine daydream.
I remeber this so well i was young like 17 i as well was 15 and lost in my thing back in 87 Rose was the lady who "adopted" me on tour miss her never knew her last name or where she was from just a kind soul who looked out for me and ask for absolutely nothing at all in return except for hugs
This is probably the tightest they ever sounded. not saying it was their best or most exploratory. But my God those vocals.and harmonies are perfect. The arrangements and all the changes are perfect. They were a well-oiled machine on this tour and firing on all cylinders. Jerry's voice is especially impressive. He's projecting a lot, really going for it. Hiting all the right notes. Plus all his clever little bends he's doing on the low string, almost trying to emulate a.trombone. They're so unique.
Let me tell you it wasnt cold that day and i put 10 hits of owsley style acid on my toungue about three hours before this song, as real as you and i i swear i saw waylon jennings and hank williams on stage playing this song

Comes down to a simple yet effective act of Love. That’s all she wants and needs. Glad you’re there and doing your best.
Peace.
My last Dead show.. was one of the most amazing shows I saw.
Fourth Tune in First Set and I'm thinking...Man, this is as good if not better than anything I can remember listening to since '72 Live. Thank you specifically to Slammy and the Experienced Deadheads/Tapers. It's a Long Strange Trip, indeed.. Have a groovy day folks.
What a great musician Jerry Garcia was.
Discovered the magic summer of 1987 between 9th and 10th grade and have never stopped listening. God bless the grateful dead.
488 thumbs down are clearly from people who cant handle their smoke and missed the like button.
Damn I miss those shows, what I can remember of them anyhow!
Good bye Momma and Pappa , good bye Jack and Jill , the grass ain’t greener the Wine ain’t Sweeter , either side of the hill.
Some Powerful Words from a Guy who’s gonna be Dead in 5 years from then. I miss Him Dearly. God Bless You Jerry.
over six years, but who's counting?
There will never be another
Grateful Dead
Thank You For
Many Years Of
Fantastic Music
RIP JERRY N BRENT
Tell that to all these tools running around saying dead and Co has just as good. Not even close I say. Jerry was the heart and soul of that band!
I only got to see them in ‘94 and ‘95 but I’m so damn glad I did.
Still listening 2024
Will always listen ❤️
No end to the dead
The music never stops!
Same here👍⚡️
Me too ❤️❤️❤️
This is a perfect example of THE GRATEFUL DEAD as far as I am concerned. Ive been a fan since 75. Nothing today is even CLOSE to THIS! But! Some people will take what they can get. Can't fault them for that: ie: Dead and Co.
