FACE SHAPE Round: straight Diamond: waves/curls Oblong: waves/curls Square: waves/curls Heart: either straight or waves/curls Oval: balance straight and waves/curls
I have an oval face shape, but gained some weight, so it is more roundish now. I find that I basically have the same three hairstyles since my teens, always with curtain or side-bangs and mostly updos. I find they look better up, everyone else likes them better down. I am thinking of getting a bob, but then my hair puffs up and maintaining it is too exhausting.
These videos on hair and face shape are so good. Have not seen anyone cover these topics like you! I’ve been watching them over and over and learn something new each watch.
People rarely mention pear shape faces - narrow forehead/temples with larger lower face. Kelly Osbourne has this face shape, and I think Jennifer Aniston might fit this category too. I am going to guess straight hair would be better to narrow the bottom of the face?
I mean, there's a reason why Jennifer Aniston and her "Rachel haircut" flattered her a lot and became a hair inspiration for a lot of ladies with the same or different face shape.
so what you're saying is that my natural hair texture (wavyish but kinda just looks straight) is the best match for my face shape (oval). nice coincedence
@@Hello-Stoiko im wondering if its because if its down, the hair forms an illusion of either lengthening or widening the face. For example I have found that when wearing my hair down… if i have strands of hair hanging down my face or if my hair is straight, my face looks longer because its hanging down; and if i have my hair down and its frizzy or wavy (bigger hair) my face looks wider because its poofing outwards in a way, makimg my face look rounder
@@Hello-Stoiko in contrast having my hair up , as somebody who also has an oval-shaped face, all of my face features are out in the open and theres no room for my hair to form an illusion of wider or longer
I am in a gray area - I have a combination of round and square face. Straight hair makes me look like my face is puffed and fatter than I am (I am quite slim for reference) and look like I got licked by a cow. Too voluminous hair makes me look out of proportions. I think balance is key for anyone.
My hair is naturally coarse, thick, and tightly curly. It’s insanely difficult ti straighten. No matter what my face shape is, I am stuck with it. As I see it, my hair is attention-getting. It’s sort of my trademark. My face is sort of homely though, so the attention-getting hair takes the attention away from my less than pretty facial features.
I'm the same. I think I'm somewhere in between oval and round but I have thick, coarse wavy red hair (naturally thicker strands). My hair doesn't suit me straight but I have finally found a hairdresser that can work with my hair type! It's just below my shoulders and has soft layers in. Too long and it looks like a Christmas tree, too short and it looks like a thatched roof! 😆
Interesting example of oval face shape and what you are bringing out. Thanks for actually doing that instead of just saying “everything works for oval” and ignoring it! Hehe I love how in depth you are!! Saw a few vids and new sub here. :)
I think I have similar face to yours, very round asian cheeks but I do have that strong jawline. It’s a combination and I don’t know if it’s a curse or what, maybe I’m a rounded rectangle 😂❤ sometimes I look good in straight hair, other times I look great in wavy hair lol
Can you please do a video about styling jewellery? I’m really into pearls now, but what length is best for my body? And how do I match them with the earrings? Is it ok to have both on? It is it too much?
When I was heavier, my face was wider, I wanted a more slimming hair style for my curly hair, so I would straighten my fringe slightly, but left the rest of my hair curly, and it did work
My hair has changed texture dramatically in the last five years or so, I’m 62. I always considered it straight, but now it just looks like I did a really bad job with a crimping iron, it’s turned unevenly wavy and makes a bushy pyramidal shape, like a perm did in the 80s. I wanted to do a Christmas tree-type layered cut as I wore then, but my stylist said current layered styles only have really long layers. She did give me such a cut, but it wasn’t nearly enough to reduce the new bulky volume of my shoulder-length hair. I just don’t know what the heck to do with it, it’s like having someone else’s hair! I should have expected it, both my parents’ hair got much more curly in middle age. I feel like it doesn’t flatter my round/square face.
My cousins hair did that. When she was young it was straight thick & brown. When she got older it went grey thick & v curly. Her son’s hair changed from straight & blonde as a boy to very thick, coarse curly and dark brown as a young man. I am kind of dreading what my hair will do. Its always been fine and was blonde as a child. Its not grey yet at 51 and still looks & feels soft. I have a feeling it might get very coarse when it does go grey. My face is a bit plain so I rely on my hair quite a bit!
I’ve always wondered why I didn’t like the look of curly hair on myself and the face shapes explain a lot, especially since my face shape is round (my hair is naturally spaghetti straight, sort of on the thick side for reference). My friends are obsessed with curling their straight hair all the time and I didn’t get the hype but after this vid I understand why! They have more length to their faces while I have more width. Idk if they know that or not but they know what hairstyle they look good with and I know what suits me too
My opinion only - layers add volume to your hair, and softness to your face. Layers work best for my hair. I used to wear it medium to long - like the "Rachel". Now, it's collar bone length and still layered. It will also depend on your hair texture. Mine is straight but with some bounce (1B or 1C), so layers prevent the "triangle" look.
I have just recently I have grown my hair to my shoulders. ) I am 60 with ). I find out I straighten my hair I have No Volume at ALL. But if I let it go curly it looks better. Also if I have a little height on top of my hair and add a hair clip it better. Thank you for all these ideas 🥰
oval face but I am looking forward to wearing my natural curly/wavy hair… :/ after strengthening it for a couple years now.. my family says curly looks way better on me but I don’t really think so anyone else ?
I have oval face and I am curly. When I straighten my hair, I look horrible 😢 Flat and sad 😢 P. S. Yes, I look better with my hair out of my "pretty" face. Even if it's down, I need to show my face. So the hair is gently tied in the back.
I'm a lost case. I'm a round face, with thick short wide neck (for a health condition) and I live where the climate is really hot. I can't conceal anything so I think I'll just give up ☹️
Phew, luckily my naturally curly hair is fairly-well suited to my slightly long oval face. Just as well as I tend to cut it myself according to its curl so the actual length is all over the place which makes straightening not an option🤣🤣
I think asking your hairstylist is probably the best option. I have naturally curly hair and I use a curling iron on it. I don’t like the way I look with straight hair it makes me look old.
Hi great utube for awareness on hair style when I was young I had great hair etc now older I’m having a hard time with it. I don’t want short hair and when I set it. Comes out and looks frizzy can’t wear it up because of double chin 🙏💕🌻💃🏾
I can’t guess if I have an oval or oblong face shape. Sometimes people say mean comments about my looong face, so maybe it’s rather oblong. I checked the lenght then my every part of face is 5,5cm but my face is very slim so the ratio is 3:2. My jaw is much slimmer than my cheekbones so it makes me look like an egg 🤔
😅 me too.I think I look more polished But I’m enjoying sometimes doing curls with the curling iron after straightening with the blow dryer…lol My hair is naturally frizzy and curly and it takes more time and products to maintain 😅 I think I’m gonna cut it cause is long and is making the illusion that I’m smaller and wider(fat) lol
@@khelix23 lol we are facing exact problem😂 i have natural curly/wavy hair too but frizzy. Even if i style them they just don't last. So now i occasionally straight them. Straight hair are less maintenance for me.

The straighter my hair is, the puffier and bigger my face looks. Waves really add dimension.

I have round face and naturally curly, but a little wave with volume looks fine on me, not the super straight though, makes my face wider
how do you style it so that it’s not curly on the roots?
your videos are always very informative and interesting, thank you again for putting order in the messy ocean of styles and trends!
You're always welcome! ❣️

I have an oval face shape and for years people have told me it looks better up . I agree with them and I guess they were on to something!
I have oval and look best with hair in a ponytail or up. I still don’t know why though.

i have a mix of round and oval, and many have said straight hair suits me better hehehe
