After so many years of struggle watching oh too many videos to try to figure it out, I finally got what my shape is. Big thanks. You truly are the best
I have watched other similar videos, but yours is the best one as it really explains the face shapes by using principles instead of just saying what type of face should do what. It's really helpful because i believe some people just didn't really know what shape is their faces. I believe you do prepare for this. Nice job.
It's true, anyone that has extra weight on, people tell them they're round-faced, and so often they aren't. As an oval, I've had lots of different flattering styles, but as my hair is both fine & thinner now, my options have become somewhat limited.
One if the best guides I've ever seen, because it's not just a lot of pictures of hairstyles "if you have this shape". A lot of women do not know how to identify their shape - and if they dont know their shape, how are they supposed to know if it's the styles of a particular shape that will fit their's. Then you have an oval face with full cheeks. It can happen. Unless your CHEEKBONES are the ones that make your cheeks look fuller, 'cause then you might have another face shape.
Finally an explanation that is easy to understand and easy to work out. As soon as I added the spots around my reflection and sat back, my face shape was immediately obvious. Thank you
Super practical! I love your advice! Whenever you post a picture of the celebrity that really makes your explanation more clear. I would love to see more of that. Maybe it would be fun to have a video on you analyzing celebrity style in an academy award or something like that. It would be really helpful for normal people like me know how to apply the beauty principals onto our daily life. Just a suggestion. :)
+Chen-Yu Huang hi, I did that for the MET gala in New York last Spring - I find even cooler than the OSCAR night, outfit-wise. Have a look. I might do it again this year if you guys are interested? 😃
Is that the "FASHION TRENDS Spring/Summer 2017"? I really like it too! But the Oscar night there are more different body and face types, versus models, are all box type. I love how you critic who does what because their body or face are what type. I mean it doesn't have to be Oscar. :))

Thank you for precise directions, and follow through without all the hype. I'd love concrete examples though, photos of people who have the "wrong" hairstyle and the "right" one.
I already knew my face was oval, but still an interesting video. I have had my hair every length, from less than an inch to midway down my back. Very short hair really accentuated my eyes and neck. Longer hair makes my face look a little slimmer.
Me! I don’t mind my face shape at all, I like my cheekbones. But I WISH I could get my hair more voluminous at the roots to compliment my face shape more. I have bangs but I just feel like my hair looks soooo flat
I have a long face and do exactly the same as you do with your hair: dry for volume and wear it swept across my face to look like a side swept fringe. I thought mid length hair would suit me best with a long face, but oddly I feel more 'balanced' with longer hair. Got it cut too short at Christmas and I am willing it back to it's former length as soon as possible. :]
Hi Suzanna. I am no expert at all but I think that Justine's advice that oval faces suit most styles is completely true. Especially if you have lovely thick hair in good condition as you do. Choose whatever you like, perhaps not too long as it can drag features down a little as you age. You could wear anything well. :D
Hello Suzanna i think mid length hair with layers swept inwards would look charming on a mature face and since you mentioned that you have thick hair you should get layers it looks very put together
do you have double joint issues?I do and if my jaw isn t totally in place my face looks unbalanced. It s then half out of the place ot should be to function.I don t feel it and it functions just fine ..so I only see it or know it by looking in the mirror,by feeling the joints of my jaw or by someone else that notices it and tells me(most times strangers wont see it ..only my partner or very very close friends)
That's not uncommon. Asymmetrical layers or bangs can help disguise it . My nose is my most asymmetrical part. No disguising that lol. I keep bangs split over one eye to disguise my differing brow lines
I feel like I'm an oval shaped but I've read somewhere that oval shaped faces high high cheek bones which I don't have (maybe it's the chubby cheeks?), Plus I have a big face so it almost looks round but it's not, but it's also not as slim as most oval faces which makes me think I'm a square but I don't have that kind of jawline *sigh*
I'm in the same boat as you ladies, but according to the points in this video, I am, in fact, oval. (I apparently just have extra "hidden cheeks" that come out when I smile. 😉😄)
Lol I have a round-oval-ish face shape! Thank you so much. All the videos I've watched would just be like "diamond face this hairstyle.." I mean that good and all but WHAT IS MY FACE SHAPEE?!?? I just came to your channel and been binging. You're awesome!!
Hiya fellow long facer! This was a really helpful, well explained resource! It confirmed to me that yes, I do have a long face and yes, like you i also wear mr hair as big as possible with a side sweep (hair too thin for bangs) to hide my pesky 5 head! Good to know I'm on the right track!
This is literally the clearest video on face shapes I have seen. I thought I was square for the longest time. Now I realize I am actually diamond! Thank you! 💎
I had a beauty school tutor try to tell the class I have a square face. A couple of them laughed and obviously said I don't because I clearly have a great shaped face.
Oh my goodness... As soon as I saw you like 6 months ago or whatever I knew that I could trust you're teaching as far as the basic answers to the questions that I had. You're a well-educated and I really appreciate the tips and tricks and information that I have gotten from watching your Channel. Thank you so much!
This video is so underrated. All my life I thought I have a long shape until now. I just figured out from using tips in this video, I have a diamond face. Also, I hate having long hair and always love pixie haircuts. And common hairstyles recommendation for diamond face includes pixie haircuts. Oh wow! This is just blowing my mind! Thank you Justine for making such great quality content!
I'm a round or square (not sure) and wore my hair in a bob for years. Ugh. I JUST got it cut in a pixie with spikey layers and boy, what a difference. I'm getting tons of "what did you do"..."you look great"! I wish I'd seen your video years ago. You're always spot on!
I just found your channel today and I already love it so much! Thank you for explaining face shapes and skin tone/undertones in a way that is so easy to grasp.
I’m a little late with a comment but this is a very clear description of face shapes. I discovered that I have an oval face. Sometimes it is harder to determine your face shape if you carry extra weight. You have to use your bones to determine your shape. I was puzzled that you didn’t say you have a long face without also saying your chin is narrower than your forehead. I thought perhaps you have a long heart shaped face. Thank you for this excellent video.
Thank you for your videos! Your advices regarding style, skin tone, body shape and all the other things are priceless. You have the ability to make short and useful tips and make all of it easy to understand and remember. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I have finally figured out my face shape -diamond. I have been doing everything wrong thinking my hair was too thick. When in fact I just need side bangs. (I do look great with side bangs BTW). Thank you, thank you again. This video helped me and I will share it with my friends and family. ❤️
First time I've ever heard anyone speak of the diamond shaped face. I've struggled for years trying to find the perfect haircut. Wispy bangs, parted on one side. A little poof on the top, with lots of texture, to allow the hair to softly hide the jawline. The texturing, makes it appear like there is even more hair, than what there really is. Great cut in my opinion, for anyone with thinng hair. Thanks!!!
I'm a diamond too and the one thing we definitely have going for us are our cheekbones. I have always been told that really cute, short cuts suited me best and now I know why, thanks to Justine. I just hate my chin/lower jaw which is pushed back a little so I grew my hair out. It looks awful. I intuitively knew that a flatter crown was just not flattering. Justine is so right, we need volume up top. Have you tried a hairstyle like that?
Thank you Justine. I've been trying to figure this out for years, and your method is so simple. I took a pic and drew in the lines and it's so easy to tell now. I'm an oval too btw.
silviaesilvia I almost choked on my tea when I read your comment and started laughing:))) Have no clue how Italian nose look like, but I am sure you are gorgeous + have the sense of humor!
Billy M it's a huge generalization of course...but Italian noses tend to be big! I have learned to accept it...but I wouldn't mind waking up one day with a new little princessy cute nose!!! 😄 hope you didn't mess up too much with your tea 😉
What a perfectly understandable explanation. Great job, Justine, and thank you so very much! I've always thought that I have a round face, but after watching your video, taking a selfie, and drawing the lines myself, I've learned that it's actually oval shaped. Great video!
OmG, I just find you and already love it...in my late 30's and finding out this things being so simple...I thought I will never understand, thanks for this video.
Justine, do you have any tips for how to “improve” one’s profile with a hairstyle? I have had haircuts that look great from the front but not so great from the side.
Airy bangs or side bangs fit very well, whatever that makes cheeks less round also fits, short hair with volume and all kinds of long hair hair way too short, or too flat, bangs too straight, might make the face look round and depending completely on your facial features, if facial features don't help to make a harmony between them after choosing those hairstyles, the hairstyle might be unflatering... I think it's something that also involves facial features and hairline too i have a small forehead with a rather masculine hairline so whatever makes me believe i could have a round and bigger forehead with a delicate hairline works for me but at the same time i think i'm limited. of course, if someone wants to use any hairstyle no matter how their face shape is, then go for it.

Faithh ü my forehead is so small lol one side is larger than the other.
That's not uncommon. Asymmetrical layers or bangs can help disguise it . My nose is my most asymmetrical part. No disguising that lol. I keep bangs split over one eye to disguise my differing brow lines
Rip
I feel like I'm an oval shaped but I've read somewhere that oval shaped faces high high cheek bones which I don't have (maybe it's the chubby cheeks?), Plus I have a big face so it almost looks round but it's not, but it's also not as slim as most oval faces which makes me think I'm a square but I don't have that kind of jawline *sigh*
I'm in the same boat as you ladies, but according to the points in this video, I am, in fact, oval. (I apparently just have extra "hidden cheeks" that come out when I smile. 😉😄)
Passion Petal casually passing by and joining the "Idk if I'm an oval or round shape send help" team :'(

Lol I have a round-oval-ish face shape! Thank you so much. All the videos I've watched would just be like "diamond face this hairstyle.." I mean that good and all but WHAT IS MY FACE SHAPEE?!?? I just came to your channel and been binging. You're awesome!!
Omg Same here
When young, I was heart shaped, now that IAM 63, it all melted downward 😢
You're still beautiful ❤️
You are still beautiful don't let anyone tell you different ❤️❤️
aww you’re still beautiful don’t worry💕
55 and can see the melting starting...
Thank you! 💎
Glad it was helpful!
This time I actually understand my face shape 😁
Thank you, as always you are very informative and straight to the point 👍👍
Justine is usually pretty cute in her videos, but I think she was extra pretty in this video with her bare/minimal makeup look!
My face shape looks like a pear to me.
My hair dresser told me that my face is oval.
Yeah, ovalpear
Mine is too. There is such a thing as pear shape. I have a pretty large jawline and a pretty huge forehead. So I'm oval/pear
I also am a pear and these recommendations rarely include us.
Everyone always said I had a round face, interesting to find out I’m actually a diamond 🤷🏽♀️ thank you for helping me find my head shape !! 💕
I always thought I had heart shaped face. Now after watching this video I realise my face is actually diamond shape
Same
Me too I think
Hi can we share whatsapp number for chat
I'm a round or square (not sure) and wore my hair in a bob for years. Ugh. I JUST got it cut in a pixie with spikey layers and boy, what a difference. I'm getting tons of "what did you do"..."you look great"! I wish I'd seen your video years ago. You're always spot on!
Apart from the amazing insight, I just love your smile!
Omg you have runway model cheekbones😍😍
I just found your channel today and I already love it so much! Thank you for explaining face shapes and skin tone/undertones in a way that is so easy to grasp.
Hello Heather how are you doing today...it's a good thing you are enjoying the channel..how long have you been following this channel?
I’m a little late with a comment but this is a very clear description of face shapes. I discovered that I have an oval face. Sometimes it is harder to determine your face shape if you carry extra weight. You have to use your bones to determine your shape. I was puzzled that you didn’t say you have a long face without also saying your chin is narrower than your forehead. I thought perhaps you have a long heart shaped face. Thank you for this excellent video.
3:35 square shaped
4:29 round shaped
4:55 heart shaped
5:43 diamond shaped
6:09 long face
thank you!!
Thanks!!!
You have such a cute smile and accent!! Thanks for the advice - there isn't a lot of info for diamond shapes out there. :)
I have a diamond shaped face too & I always need to add volune to my hairs.
I finally get the different shapes and understand what works and doesn't for each ! A good video a thanks 👍
I am a diamond!! Thank you for explaining this very well. And yes, i am 3 years late, but thank you
5years later. Your videos are still helpful. Thanks Justine!
Thank you Justine. I've been trying to figure this out for years, and your method is so simple. I took a pic and drew in the lines and it's so easy to tell now. I'm an oval too btw.
I have an oval face but I have to make deals with my Italian nose... 😉
+silviaesilvia 😂 what about Italian noses?
Justine Leconte officiel ...they are...important! statement noses!!! 👃
silviaesilvia I almost choked on my tea when I read your comment and started laughing:))) Have no clue how Italian nose look like, but I am sure you are gorgeous + have the sense of humor!
+Billy M I agree 😂😁
Billy M it's a huge generalization of course...but Italian noses tend to be big! I have learned to accept it...but I wouldn't mind waking up one day with a new little princessy cute nose!!! 😄 hope you didn't mess up too much with your tea 😉
What a perfectly understandable explanation. Great job, Justine, and thank you so very much! I've always thought that I have a round face, but after watching your video, taking a selfie, and drawing the lines myself, I've learned that it's actually oval shaped. Great video!
Hi can we share whatsapp number for chat
Very clear thanks - so to say is actually ‘so to speak’ but I find your way endearing so don’t change it!
I was gonna cut my hair but I measured my face and then measured everyones in the house. I dunno why but it's so interesting to me now 😅
I don't even care about my face shape, I'm gonna shave my hair anyway
You should I did in 2009, best decision ever. I wouldn't do it now though I was a bit younger then lol
Don’t risk it and regret if you care that much about face shape. If you don’t then that’s your choice also if you regret that’s your problem.
Thanks for this video! I finally determined my face shape after struggling for so long!
OmG, I just find you and already love it...in my late 30's and finding out this things being so simple...I thought I will never understand, thanks for this video.
Justine, do you have any tips for how to “improve” one’s profile with a hairstyle? I have had haircuts that look great from the front but not so great from the side.
1am, everybody's sleeping, I'm doing this
Lol same here
😂
Here i am, 1.24 am.
I have an oval face and it's not like every hairstyle fits me
the "oval faces rock everything" is not so accurate
+Sonnyra GdC then what suits you well and what doesn't?
Airy bangs or side bangs fit very well, whatever that makes cheeks less round also fits, short hair with volume and all kinds of long hair
hair way too short, or too flat, bangs too straight, might make the face look round and depending completely on your facial features, if facial features don't help to make a harmony between them after choosing those hairstyles, the hairstyle might be unflatering...
I think it's something that also involves facial features and hairline too
i have a small forehead with a rather masculine hairline so whatever makes me believe i could have a round and bigger forehead with a delicate hairline works for me but at the same time i think i'm limited.
of course, if someone wants to use any hairstyle no matter how their face shape is, then go for it.
Sonnyra GdC LoL yes for me too. I mostly always look ridiculous, despite having an oval face
This is soo me
@@sonnyragdc5432 true same problem here.
The best explanation of face shapes I have ever heard!!
