Reminds of my old battalion chief, he was a fireman’s chief. We would do anything for him because more times or not, he was needles making sure his crew was safe and not f**ked with. He died from an on the line duty cancer 4 years after his retirement he was a 34 year veteran, and was one of my biggest role models, I miss him every day. RIP Chief!!
Well, you sure succeeded in making this fella misty-eyed. Whoever you are, I'm very glad you got to experience up close, and especially for years, a man of that caliber. Very few are lucky enough to experience that. This is in no small part due to this series. While being one of many that I love dearly, the thing about this one is that it is orders of magnitude more emotionally impactful measured by runtime than any show I've ever seen and while I have no clue how much time I spent on TV shows, I did watch 3,000+ movies, mostly quality ones. I won't bore you with why that it, but safe to say that Tommy is a little to close for comfort in regards to how much I can relate to him. It's the closest to a mirror image than any show ever got. I'm a smoke diver and fire team leader by training due to previously being a ship's mate, but thankfully never had to make use of those skills. A heartfelt salute from Denmark and I sure hope you won't ever get to experience even a sliver of the fire fighting related horrors Tommy endured.
"AND NONE OF THOSE KIDS WERE AUTHORIZEDTO BURN TO DEATH!" "But it's all there. My guys responding, my guys getting the kids out safely, your trucks arriving at what I would not call A TIMELY FASHION. *tosses video disc in front of him* THAT'S for you to watch and enjoy."
Leadership like that would not fly today. One thing that should really stand out is the man behind the desk did not have a computer even though PC's had been in the workspace since the mid 90's. But oddly enough, there is a laser jet printer.
I was a cop, and a new commander came in one time. His agenda was to save money. He took a look at my departments overtime and saw that we all did 30 hours a month. So he put a cap on it at 20 hours. He couldn't understand it when the expenditure went up.......until somebody told him that we'd always took the 30 hours as a 50/50 split between pay and time units. So instead of taking just the 15 hours of it as pay, we thought "f**k him", and took the full 20 in pay. Another clueless A-hole who came and went without achieving a damn thing 🤷🏼♂️
Unfortunately a lot of it comes down to politics because the mayors and city Council‘s and other politicians don’t want to raise taxes to keep fire house is open and other city entities so to stay within the budget they’ll close fire houses
A new fire chief was promoted from B/C in our department. His first order was to split up veteran crews so they didn't get to comfortable and were able to cross train. There was a huge revolt and people stopped doing anything outside the scope of their positions and extra public service. He quickly changed his tune.
They could never make it today because between all the things that were said on this show and they didn't leave anyone alone, the snowflakes in today's society would have a cow, boycott the network that showed it and it wouldn't make a 2nd season. This show was by and far one of the best in the last 20 yrs and probably one of the most underrated.
Great scene but in real life I saw City wide tour commander Eat Commissioner alive backed him right off the command center into his car and pointed the driver in the direction to get him out of his fire scene.A movie could be made around an actual event like the one I described. For a comedy though this scene is great LOL. Thanks for posting these!!
Sadly, that won't happen any time soon (if at all). People can't simply work up through the ranks anymore. The job is either given to an outside candidate, merged with another position (with no pay increase), or some senior employee who holds up the promotion process because they refuse to retire.

I'm sorry for your loss. Sounds like you were lucky to be in the presence of a great man.
Absolutely one of the BEST shows ever created. Sure do miss it. Thanks Denis Leary and Peter Tolan.
Me too, one of my favourites.
Peter Tolan played chief Pecker 😂
@@Gomez1915 It's Chief Pecher, with a phuh 😆
It’s the only series I would ever consider buying.
Hell YEAH!! I would have loved to have rolled with them or with Vic Mackey's crew.
This is a show that could have you pissing your pants laughing at any time and then have you crying your eyes out at any time.
The last episode is the perfect example of that
Needles was the man !!
Very underrated character on the show and they should have done more with him
He was kinda like a younger version of Jerry.
This is my favorite Needles moment. Always stuck up for his crew.
I always felt that Needles was like younger version of Jerry.
Needles knows that he probably won't see a rank higher than Battalion Chief because of this, but he also doesn't care. It was worth it.
One of the best scenes in the show.
I miss these shows of the last decade so much.
If you haven't already
Try Califonication !
It has hints of rescue me to it but it's different and awesome in a different way
Ethan Skys
thx :)
So many SJWs would be triggered by it.
One of the BEST shows to ever hit TV.
"OH I don't think I can I know I can." What a great line.
Adam Ferrara killed it in this scene

Dropping the hat on the desk was a nice touch.
Adam Ferrara was awesome on this show! He was my favorite.
When Chiefs were Firemen not politicians
I respected Needles a lot more after this scene
When he says shalom I laugh my balls off

Worst part is that's it's accurate to what happens in real life.the city commanders don't care about nothing just $

@@joshcorson6786 they should be using the budget that they used to fix streets that don't need fixing to begin with
A show like this could never be made today. Not enough PC, wokeism, gays, and to many white people in it. What a shame. This is classic . Great stuff.
brilliant scene from a brilliant show that ended too soon
One of the very few shows that ran what 7 seasons? Yet every season managed to be better than the last and no episodes that were boring.
I mean, that's a really nice office.
I've seen this footage, I know I can :D
I wish he was on Chicago fire hell the whole crew should've been in Chicago fire both crews are great but they each have their own city to protect.

You’re not the new guy if you’re the chief.
NEEDLES was so great. I miss Rescue Me. Wish Peter Tolan and Denis Leary would bring it back.
A show like this could never come back in today's pussy snowflake culture.

Lack of decorum but rich in truth
Great show, love Needles
What episode is this and what happened after this scene in this episode?
Heh I don't see Heckle fish anywhere....?
He just got owned!!
This man made me laugh
Wow! Go Needles! Adam looks so HOT in uniform.
Good scene, but that staff would’ve aged out off the job about 20 years prior to this. 65 and you gotta retire.
outstanding!!!

It should be mandatory to retire at 65 for ALL PROFESSIONS. You had your time now move on and wait for your number
