Oh, so "the Masuda method" is like "shiny". A term introduced by fans that sort of took on an official stance. That's pretty cool.
is it telling my age that when I got pokemon crystal, they were just called 'colored' pokemon XD
Don't forget the term Eeveelution, it was also a fan made made term that got some sort of an official recognition.
@@ThaOddGurl what about “Shining” Pokemon? The semi-official term used before shiny, used mainly in the TCG.
yeah is funny, because in Japan they're just called "rare"
@@ThaOddGurl Pretty sure in Japanese shiny pokemon are still known as "alternate colored" pokemon. In Japanese, "shiny pokemon" are actually referring to "Lucky pokemon" in Pokemon Go.

I wish u luck
It's the only way to get shiny starters in SwSh

nice subnoodle pic, I like Patterrz too! It took me over 2,500 eggs to get a shiny rowlet.

My fist shiny Using the Masuda Method was a Shiny Soble. It only took me ten eggs to get it!
Similar situation for me; Shiny trapinch in 9!
I've never used the Masuda Method as I am not into Shinies but I like to share my odd history with my early Shinies. A Tentacool, a Tentacruel and yet another Tentacool across three different games. Then a Trapinch came along and "saved" me from my shiny jellyfish fate in a replay of Sapphire. I still have it to this day thanks to Pal Park, Poképorter and Pokémon Bank.
My first shiny was litten i wasnt even hunting i just wanted a good ev one

Wow! It was really nice to realize its a colab without that being mentioned :3
A "basic" information video but with great "sprinkles" here and there.
Nice vid 🥰
Lockstin: What was you first shiny pokemon using the masuda method?
Also Lockstin: *shows non breedable pokemon*
personally i think it should be called the "arranged marriage" method
Oh no
The canon reason for the masuda method might be a wider gene pool since they come from diffrent regions means more genes that can result in a shiny pokemon.
Masuda: "the GTS will encourage global trading between players"
The trade offer: I receive a lvl100 Jirachi, & you receive a lvl1 shellos.
I was totally caught off when I heard Ron's voice in the video.
Damm I can't say if the voice of masuda is Ron or pokeaim. They sound so similar
Most likely Ron, this type of video is much more up his alley
It’s Ron, it says in the description of the video if you want to double check.
@@PansyPops I probably should have considered that.
My first Masuda Method Shiny Pokémon was a Treeko in Gen 6! One of my favorite starters!
I love how your "friends from all over the globe" (a new-yorker and a brit) were doing the voices for the two japanese men.
My first shiny was believe it or not, a Shiny Spiritomb, I met all the requirements, got the Odd Keystone, and found it first try.
But since I was the stupidest kid on the face of the Earth, I traded Platinum for Fire Red at school...
Thank you for Time-stamping the sponsor xd
Just noticed the yellow line in the add I just really like it and makes it easier to know when it will stop
I like that lockstin used the script for the every berry in pokemon explained video for the grammarly segment
I've only ever used the masuda method to get a shiny Eiscue. Otherwise, I find horde hunting and radar chaining to be a bit more my style.
By the way, Lockstin, have you encountered your first legit shiny yet?
Never found a wild shiny pokemon gang, checking in!
Seriously I've never seen a wild shiny :(
I’ve found two full odds, shiny flower fairy pokemon and shiny skorupi :)
Keep at it bro you'll find one eventually and it will be great
I find that so odd, cause I've found multiple randomly. My first ever was a Duosion in my first ever play through of White, the first game I played that was my own.
Got a Tranquil on a random Black playthrough.
Got a Litwick in a Black nuzlocke & it ended up being the sole survivor of Ghetsis.
Got a Sandlash in a Soul Silver Nuzlocke.
And those are just off the top of my head
I randomly found a shiny of the galar flower Pokemon when I was working on finishing my pokedex
I didn't evolve it
Piplup was my very first Masuda method shiny. I still happen to own it in my copy of Alpha Sapphire
thank you so much lockstin i love the little yellow bar at the bottom of the sponsored portion
Id be smashed if I took a shot every time they said “all over the world”

I believe the Masuda method is just called "International breeding" in Eastern countries. Quite literally a name, I got confused when I first heard Masuda method too.
Lockstin: What was your first masuda method pokemon?
Image: Shows an Arkoos.
Where is the Masudo Method
I’ll do you one better what is the Medusa Method
I’ll do you one better why is the Masuda Method
The best part of this is about Midway through when he was starting to talk about the method the software uses to edit made glitched out causing its descend like he said in twice in a row
This was a fun video. I never really knew of this method but I liked trading occasionally with the switch and DS games. By first shiny, natural, was a gold krabby, it was so cool!
Lockstin: what was your first shiny Pokemon?
Me:
It will happen someday, when you least expect it.
1:40 Best part of the video
My first shiny using the Masuda Method was a snivy, it only took 17 eggs to get it, and it's still my favorite to this day.
It just occurred to me that I had no idea what the Masuda method actually was. I hear people say it all the time but having never hunted, or even caught, a shiny Pokemon before it was just a thing other people did in my mind. I knew it was breeding but didn't realise it had to be using traded Pokemon from other regions. Neat.
Never played an actual Pokémon game, played them all in emus...
This explanation on the Masuda method was mind-opening. Thanks!
My first masuda method was a trapinch back in Pokemon Y. Flygon is still one of my favorites.
"In-in generation 3-" is a great audio glitch
I didn’t start doing the Masuda Method until SWSH because in gens 6 and 7, there were better methods like SOS. However, I now have over 40 masuda method shinies, my first one was a Dreepy in 79 eggs.
I'll never forget the time in Let's Go Pikachu.
Route 17, doing pre-league training, catching Eevees and whatnot.
I caught an Eevee there, which started my streak of 1, and as I was about to progress downwards, a Shiny Eevee popped up.
After a lot of Ultra Balls, I caught it.
I'll never be more proud.
My first Masuda shiny was a Yamper named Pinky, and it was found while I was watching the Pokemon anime. I then got hooked on shinyhunting and went on to even attempt a legendary hunt, that being terrakion. My longest Masuda hunt was G-zigzagoon, with over 3,000 eggs.
My first shiny Pokémon I got with Masuda was a Sizzlipede which I named Kevin Bacon. It was the first shiny I ever hunted for. I still love him to this day as a menacing Centiskorch.
My first time using the masuda method was in b/w and i was skeptical of it working but i soon hatched my first shiny oshawott, then preceded to get all the shiny starters then a couple more, all within like a week or two. Best method!
My first Masuda method shiny was a rowlet, it took me some years to create courage to start shiny hunting
Lockstin: Get Kaihatsu, Trugreen7, and Bird Keeper Toby to collaborate with him.
Me who’s watched all of their content: It’s enough to make a Grown Man cry, *sniff* and that’s okay. You go right ahead tear.
So, I've never used the Masuda method myself, but have gotten a few shines over the years. I remember my first was playing Soul Silver the same year I had just started college. I was at the grass in the Lake of Rage about to go catch the red Gyarados, and caught a shiny Noctowl right before it! I named him Tobias, and still have him today 😁
My first shiny from the method was Rookidee! I wasn’t that interested/ well-known about shiny hunting in the past, and it really kicked off in Sword and Shield.
My first Masuda Method Pokémon was a Popplio in Sun. I hatched 24 eggs and the 25 fifth was not near from hatching and went to sleep (It was 11:45 pm and had to go to school by 7:30.)
I woke up the next morning it was 6:20 and had time to prepare for school, so I turned on my 3ds, hatches the 25th egg, and there it was, a shiny Popplio.
I was mind blown because it was already a guaranteed shiny egg when I saved and went to sleep right before that last egg could hatch.
My first shiny from the masuda method was larvitar by accident when I bred it with an adamant axew for that nature
When I got back into Pokemon in February, I completed my 4 year hunt for a shiny Fennekin in Ultra Moon using the Masuda Meathod.
The first shiny I actually set out to acquire was a Golurk after I accidentally ran from one. I used the Method to breed one in Shield
My first shiny pokemon with the Masuda method was Beldum. It was fairly recent as I just got into shiny hunting not to long ago. But I still love my now Metagross and it's a permanent member on my team. Actually it was my final member.
never used the masuda method but my first shiny was a full odds shiny in pokemon x, about a month or two ago :)
I had to look up if that was Drake Bell in the Pokemon commercial. I’m happy to say it was.
I used the Masuda Method to get shiny absol at first but being that I'm terrified of playing online I only tried it for the first time THIS generation, and it was so fun hatching shinies and trying to trade that I actually completed my pokedex to get the shiny charm for the first time in any generation and I've been playing since yellow. Trading and interacting with folks (I actually had to seek forum help for the first time too to get my pokedex completed) was so fun that I may actually do it with other games now and it's all thanks to wanting to really give the Masuda method a good go!
My very first shiny was a wild Bolbeat back in gen 6 in OR/AS. I don't like that Pokémon that much but I keep it because it is my first shiny ever. To this day I've only cought one other shiny; a Rockruff on Ultramoon, and got a lot more trough the GTS. But those two have a very special place in my heart.
My first Masuda shiny... wasn't until Shield. December 12, 2019. Honedge. A bit over 400 eggs. I cried.
I'd never gotten so lucky before... until after the DLC announcement, where I hatched a shiny Galarian Slowpoke using the method in 3 EGGS.
the first pokemon I got with the masuda method was a shiny pumpkaboo! I loved the spoopyness of the shiny!
My first non static shiny was a Zweilous in White 2 and Y is when I got my first shiny from breeding, it was a Phantump, and I still have both. I was constantly breeding shinys in 6th gen.
I did Masuda method hunting in gen 7, and I only did it for a few Pokémon, but I ended up getting them within like 3 hours. Really efficient, and I much preferred it to SOS chaining because you could get things like starters and gen 7 poke radar Pokémon.
Before I knew about the Masuda Method, my first shiny from it was a shiny Togepi in Pokémon Black/White. I hatched a shiny Togepi (not realizing it was shiny until I saw the sparkly stars) & wondered how I got it. I had to have a friend explain it to me & then began my research on it. And since then, most of my shiny Pokémon I obtain are via the Masuda Method (Legends Arceus & Gen 9 are the exceptions now).
“What was your first Masuda Pokémon?”
Me: *profusely sweats in flashbacks of summer ‘14 when it took 200+ eggs to get a shiny Petilil*
My first was Falinks and it's definitely one of my favorites
My first ever shiny was a wild shiny Starly right when I started a replay of Platinum! Amazing luck, except for the fact that it was before I could get pokeballs
The Link Cable/Trade Evolutions/Event Pokemon crap screwed us all. Far better would be if they included every Pokemon for each Generation on each Cartridge/Game but maybe after game for certain ones. Like keep the Game exclusive Vulpix/Growlithe stuff during main game but after game you can be given or find the other in a special location after beating the Elite Four. That sort of thing. That would also include the other Starters being given by the Professor or something.
That is why Yellow Version is my favorite Pokemon Game because can get all 151 in that game exploiting the Mew Glitch but for the others I couldn't find regular.
Cool to see you included other PokéTubers, also great to see you got over 1M subs
4:05 Froslass from the Indiana region? It's more likely than you think.
If you decide to continue on the topic of breeding, I would like to see a video discussing about one "plot hole" for the games and and the anime. When it comes to obtaining pokemon through breeding between two different species, why doesn't the child hereditarily gain the physical attributes from the father? Like for example, the child of a male Tyrannitar and a female Marowak would obviously be a Cubone, but it looks more vicious-looking one like a mini-Zilla with an armored head and can swing bone club around.
My first shiny with the masuda method was Cutiefly! It's one of my favorite pokemon, and it was my first ever shiny to boot! Took only around 100 eggs to hatch! Felt very lucky that evening.
I think my favorite shiny pokemon I ever hatched using the Masuda Method was my Lucario with the Hidden Ability that I hatched in only 17 eggs
I still use it in my party to this day
The first shiny I ever hatched through this method was a shiny Sandygast. I evolved it into Palossand, it was female, and I named her Pele after the Hawaiian Goddess of volcanoes. She hatched on Halloween of 2018.
I have only used the Masada method once to hunt for a shiny Popplio in Pokémon Shield after missing the event to get a shiny Primarina from Pokémon Bank for USUM. The MM successfully yielded me my shiny male Primarina, nicknamed Trixie after my favorite drag queen.
