I've owned a pod 2.0 since 2005. The factory settings can all be modified (edited) and by tweaking and adjusting everything you can really find a huge variance of sounds even within one setting. Not to mention switching pickups, adjusting volume and tone on your guitar. It takes a lot of experimenting and tweaking to adjust a factory tone to find that tone you're looking for. But once you find that tone, you can store the edited settings and override the factory setting. But you'd also need to remember (or write down) where the guitar pickup, tone, and volume were set at. Just the slightest variance can change the sound. A good "Jack of all trades" stomp box. And indeed a "master of some". At first I only used the manual settings. It took a while for me to get used to adjusting the factory settings, as when you navigate to a setting (like 9D Roland Jazz Clean) your physical knob settings are overridden by the factory. So if the factory setting has a knob setting programmed at noon, and your physical knob is set lower, at say the 3rd dot (10 O'Clock), by turning it to 4 (11 O'Clock) you've just edited the setting down and not up. So if it's the volume knob, you've turned the volume down one notch instead up up a notch. And the factory settings are not displayed, as as they would be in my Boss Katana Tone Studio. So you need to adjust the knob and hear where it was at, then adjust. But you can vary the cabinet settings, drive, volume, everything. And really find a few "golden sounds" with enough searching.
They are still useful years later and years to come. I have the POD 1.0 that I upgraded to a 2.0 with the EPROM chip swap. You pretty much had to read the upgraded manual at that point to use any of the updated features directly on the unit. But then they've always had a software editor via MIDI that showed all the options. You can set exact delay times, use a boost, use a cocked wah, see everything you can change, and etc with the software editor.
That almost looks like the vintage 1960's Hofner 335 style guitar I just picked up, although mine has a P90 bridge and Lipstick Neck set up. and Love how you show people how if you explore some Tone can even be found in a old POD
I had no idea about the other amps too, and I just found out that there is a hidden boost function for the Drive knob that acts like a Tube Screamer pedal which is activated by holding "Tap" and turning the gain control past 12 o'clock. It tightens up the tone a bit, which I wish I knew about back in the day.
Really enjoyed this video. Heard a guitarist KILL one of these 2.0s last week - I was smitten to say the least. We actually had this tech at our church years back, packaged in a Flextone amp, which sounded great. Great work on this video.
Have this pod since 2016 as my main amp, running thru little Marshall CDR-15 on clean. Not even half way gone thru all options... With additional four pedals: a „Marshall Jackhammer“ and a „Donner giant metal“ overdrive, a looper, and a „Zoom G-ON“ multi-effect, I‘m done. Later will get a wah/volume pedal. Prooves, that READING the MANUAL, guys, is blatantly IMPORTANT! 😝😌 Reading cost you 10 minutes, (marking with a color highlighter), but saves you many hours of searching, guessing, testing, wondering, cussing, pulling hair 'cause of not knowing your device completely. And also saves you lots of money, because you know how to maintain and treat your stuff well, and not selling it one week later because „not liking"🤪😉

I have had many multi effects throughout the last 20 years. Korg, Digitech, Zoom, Boss etc.. always some that sound better or worse. But I haven’t seen any knobs oriented multi effects which are as fun as the bean. I have bought and sold beans and currently decided to stick to the Bass Pod XT and the 2.0..too much fun, however limited.. Glad you found the extra amps and cabs. I bought one after your first video. Had one years ago when they came out. I am trying to locate the editing software. If I can find it I’ll let you know.
CGS on the line six site go to software downloads and pick pod 2.0 in the software. Search all programs. You should find the line six monkey program and an editor program that is supposed to work with the pod 2.0. I haven’t downloaded or tried it yet. You have to ave a midi input to the computer. I have to get a midi to usb to try it. Good luck.
@@ChinaguitarscepticLine 6 sent me a link to the editor. I don't know how to send it to you through you tube. I think it is the same line six editor you find when putting in the info for your pod at support download site. There are two programs to look for. Line six editor and line six monkey. Monkey will update firmware if you need or want to. I didn't try my focusrite yet but I bought the fore sub to midi controller on Amazon. It was $16. I chose that one because the comments said their support was good. You have to make sure you plug the adapter in correctly. It is opposite of what you first think. When the program started I had trouble getting the set to recognize my pod. The progress that you have to have the Adaptor set at both only and output Windows didn't do it that way automatically. When the program came up it just showed the library. I finely found the editor in the window drop down. The editor can control the pod and make changes to the presets. Apparently there are presets out there that you can find and load into the pod from the library and callback up any you create. Haven't done much with this yet. Oh, you might have to register your pod to get access to the software. You have to at least create an account. I had no trouble registering mine even though I got it used. Good luck if you try this. I don't know how popular your pod videos were but this might make a good one
Ha!! Ive just bought tge pod 2.0.... again.. sold it many years ago 😂 But heard a guy play in a pod xt online with Jamulus, and wow a great tone.. and then it just hit me.. dahm, gonna get it, again.. 😂😂 Great vids!! Thanks

Have PODs 1.0, 2.0, xt, xtLive and the pedalboard accoutrements for all that are required 😊. Stopped buying at Helix because I adore my store of PODs … esp running through my Line 6 DuoVerb and/or recording console. God has been very generous with me and I have many pedals as well, but when push comes to shove as they say, I like my xt with the Ethernet cable into the pedalboard … sometimes with a fuzz or two in front of the POD. I have no idea how anyone could have more fun and get more done with any other devices so simply.😊😁 🎸👨🏼⚕️🫶✌️♾️🇬🇧🏴🇺🇸. Cheers/ Slainte and Godspeed.
got my pod 2.0 a month ago, used 50 euros in Rome. When it came out i was totally interested in valve amps and did not care of it. It's a little beast. Don't care much of how close it can get to real amps, it sounds great. I just connect it to pa. Tried to check feedback morphing with a modified turbo rat on it...and it screams. I still love valve amps, but this box has incredible sounds. I'll make a video of it as soon as i can. Thanx for the video man!!
Thanks brother. You are so right. The sounds are the main thing. It doesn't matter how close they are to the models they are based on. What really matters is the tones are great and very useable. I hope you do make videos on it. Please let me know 😊👍
@@ChinaguitarscepticHi man, here's my first impression on pod. Not as good as you are in making videos, i just play...and i love it😜 hope you like it. Cheers from Rome ua-cam.com/video/5vd1DrlTJZ8/v-deo.html
Great video Brent! Thank you! This is one of the few effects boxes that seems more geared toward simple Rock & Roll sounds and I’ve never heard a sound on this machine that doesn’t appeal to the ear. In your experience are there any other all-rounder Classic Rock-bent guitar effects units other than the Pod 2 that have been on the less expensive side, which sound as great as this one? My only complaint is that the Pod is not battery powered? Have you ever tried the Chinese made knock-off aka the Behringer V-amp 2 or 3? If yes, how does it compare? I don’t like using real amps or plug-ins…but an all-in-one box with knobs and buttons.
I have tried the v amp but it's not quite as good IMHO. If you want battery powered I can highly recommend the pocket pod which I use on all my demos. Got mine for 50 quid and it's excellent.
@@Chinaguitarsceptic Does the Brit Classic and the Fender from the Pocket Pod sound the same as in the 2.0? I’m asking because I don’t like the Line 6 XT or HD sounds. They ruined the warmth of the 2.0 to make it sound more “bright or modern” but I only like the 2.0 version.
The POD deserves some cred for what it did when it did it. You can hear the sound chipset creating some artifact noise but it's not too annoying. There are better options these days but this could be used for practice and even some light street gigging where the modeling quality wouldn't be an issue. These are pretty inexpensive used and I still use my Pocket POD from time to time.
Imagine just learning now about a POD 2.0 after dragging an acoustic around the country as trucker for the last couple of decades then getting off the road after that long and discovering one at a pawn shop after buying your first electric in twenty plus years. That's what I'm going through right now and have only had mine for about 5 or 6 weeks, which is exactly how long I've known about it. We used to have to buy a digital delay and overdrive and distortion pedals, don't forget chorus and flanger you gotta have those. So this thing does everything I had the spend many paydays on back then. I know my delay pedal had more adjustment on it as well as the flanger and chorus but wow in one package I have everything I need and it only cost me $60. As an old dude I usually bitch about technology but I'm down with this kind for sure. This technology rocks. 🤘😆
Hey Mike...great video...yeah..the Vr 2 stuff is a step up in their evolution and only the newer Helix level stuff starts sounding better in the high gain...that's where I start to back away...the more higher gain tones you go for, the more distorted it gets into that ice-picky digital noise...cane explain better but there's something lost for sure I the frequencies...just turns me off...but otherwise a great tool for what it is...and for the neck of it, I'll be hooking up my old Pod Pro with Floorboard just to mess around! Used to play with my headphones that way all the time! 😎🎸🐦🤘
Wow... a POD 2.0 video in 2020. I just found mine in a box somewhere, works fine! I was wondering how to store the presets on my laptop. because the last line6 monkey software doesn't seem to support the 2.0 anymore. any pointers?
@@Chinaguitarsceptic sure is mate, I still use mine for band rehearsal and still cuts the mustard, I have the floor unit aswell which connects to the pod that is solid and still works, I've owned mine since 2001😄

The cords that the battery pack came with contain one that fits the Line#6 POD 2.0 perfectly , and only this unit and that's it!!....crazy!!!.....I just guessed it might work and it did - I can take the POD now anywhere and use it as a battery powered mini amp/rack unit now .....crazy !!!!......the BLACKSTAR battery pack can be purchased on Amazon for $80 (Reverb.com for $70) and it's part # PSU-PB-1-VD (model SKO2T -15001002 made by SIMSUKIAN) it comes with international adapters for any wall outlet - they clip in or out of the adapter....cool as hell!!!!!...the PB stands for Power Bank .......it also lights up as a flashlight too and has 5 blue lights on top that tell you when it's charged or depleted......best of luck!!!.....the POD 2.0 RULES !!!!!!! Update - yes -Amazon carries it for $80 (small quantities left) but you can buy it on Reverb.com for $69.99 and it's the same exact one I have and use ....good luck!!!.......AND there are full manuals online to print that detail everything if you lost or misplaced your booklet. The manuals online go much further in Depth explaining all the hidden features of the POD 2.0 ....very easy to find and print!!!.....nowadays you can find any manual from any era online easily and print them. I do this all the time when I am out at resale shops searching for hidden gems,I look up the manuals to see how the gear works !!! Thank dog for the internet!!!!

I'm trying to get a status quo tone.Old school rock for me.
I have a line 6 amp and the pod.
Thanks again.
I think that the pod does connect to a computer but sadly I've never tried it. I'll see if I can and then if successful ill make a video for you.
What a discovery, sounds great !
Cheers David.
The Dumble emulations alone are worth their weight in gold!
They surely are
Glad you found the extra amps and cabs. I bought one after your first video. Had one years ago when they came out. I am trying to locate the editing software. If I can find it I’ll let you know.
Please do mate I didn't know they did any that long ago!
Good luck.
@@johnl.donofrio2441 I wonder if the focusrite interface midi would work?
CGS I bet it would. I have one. Maybe this weekend I’ll give it a try.
Already said it in the previous vids but i love the pod.
I quite like your Harley Benton there too, very nice 👍
Lots of nice comments about the guitar too here. Thanks 🎸😊👍🙏
What acoustic
what acoustic song is playing in end of video thanks
I always thought about getting one of these but for some reason was never able to pull the trigger. Thanks Mike.
Great opportunity to check one out second hand now my friend :-)
Ha!! Ive just bought tge pod 2.0.... again.. sold it many years ago 😂
But heard a guy play in a pod xt online with Jamulus, and wow a great tone.. and then it just hit me.. dahm, gonna get it, again.. 😂😂
Great vids!! Thanks
Thank you and I'm delighted it inspired you to revisit the pod. Enjoy! 😊👍🙏
LINE 6 POD very nice!
Thank you
I still love my Pod 2.0.
You and me both bro
I gigged with one of these for years great unit
Cool bro. I think this is still giggable
@@Chinaguitarsceptic for sure it is. Every try it with pedals?

@@darafitzsmokie not yet but you've planted a seed now!
@@Chinaguitarsceptic when I was gigging in Lanzarote I used the pod as an amp into the pa. Put a cry baby, overdrive and a delay in front. Perfect! Saved me having to bring my amp.
I have no idea how anyone could have more fun and get more done with any other devices so simply.😊😁

I Love my POD 2.0!!
Me too my friend. Thanks 😊
got my pod 2.0 a month ago, used 50 euros in Rome.
Cheers from Rome

I use the Dumble emulator all the time time through the lealie!
That's awesome mate
@@Chinaguitarsceptic have you tried the Johnson J-Station circa 2000-ish? Made in USA too.
Yes they sound the same mate.
No I'd like to
The POD deserves some cred for what it did when it did it. You can hear the sound chipset creating some artifact noise but it's not too annoying. There are better options these days but this could be used for practice and even some light street gigging where the modeling quality wouldn't be an issue. These are pretty inexpensive used and I still use my Pocket POD from time to time.
I don't think you would still hear it in a mix as I can barely hear it solo, but totally agree.
🤘😆
Oh and don't ruin it for me. I still feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I'll catch up with tech later, I'm having too much fun.
Can I use it with only headphones
yes! I do that all the time.
@@coldwar1977 thanks bro :)))
Cheers Mate
My pleasure
Suuuuper helpful
Will they stay preset?
The current preset stays in the memory but not the preset presets...!!! :-)
How do you have the Pod hooked up to your audio interface?
I go in stereo into the 2i2. Direct or if left and right. The computer then records in stereo and I can match it up with the video.
I have one and I use it.for a worship band and I have. Foot pedal for it
Awesome brother
Why my pod make ground noise
If it's on clean tones as well as on crunch tones then it's likely to be your guitar cable or guitar that aren't properly grounded
was definitely ahead of its time but to me something is lacking in its gain/fuzz/overdrive department, but thats just me. digging it mang!
Yes you have to be careful and sympathetic with eq on the high gain tones or they can be very harsh.
Works just as well with an overdrive in front of it
I’m confused at how to get the other amp sounds
Simply hold down the tap button as you select the amp or cab selection.
Yes you have to dial in sympathetic eq to deal with the higher gain settings but there's good tone in there.
@@Chinaguitarsceptic I'll be messing around with my for sure! 😎🎸🐦
Did anybody know how it sound thrue amp in this case is Marshall DSL5c?
There is a switch to allow you to turn off the emulating circuit and put it through an amp.
WHOAAHH THX A LOOTT MATEEE!!
Awesome invention 👍👍👍 auto subs!
Cheers buddy, welcome to the channel my friend. 😊👍🙏
Wow... a POD 2.0 video in 2020. I just found mine in a box somewhere, works fine! I was wondering how to store the presets on my laptop. because the last line6 monkey software doesn't seem to support the 2.0 anymore. any pointers?
I wonder if you can still get older versions
@@Chinaguitarsceptic well you can.. but there's so many of them... haven't got the time to check 'em all out.
@@TheMedicalEngineer leave it with me
V1.77 was the last version of monkey that was for pod 2
@@Chinaguitarsceptic why does my v1.77 read the 2.0 as an XT, and can't save the presets ...

Not too shabby for what it is and its age!
Hopefully the same can be said of it's owner!!! LOL
Yup I didn't know these existed either, DOH!!!!
Fun when you find something like this isn't it.
@@Chinaguitarsceptic sure is mate, I still use mine for band rehearsal and still cuts the mustard, I have the floor unit aswell which connects to the pod that is solid and still works, I've owned mine since 2001😄
LOL. Read the manual. I've been using my POD 2.0 for 20 years and rocking some serious recordings. Enjoy!
I loved my P.O.D. ver 2. That is until the power supply quit working.. Line 6 doesn't make it anymore, there's no aftermarket makers. Guard that power supply, once it quits your pod is finished.
No it's not and I can tell u how you can run it cordless too!!!! Blackstar makes a rechargeable battery unit that is used for their Blackstar smaller amps so u can play them without being plugged into the wall. I stumbled onto this by accident the other day. I own 2 of the rechargeable Blackstar battery packs and they last a long time too.
I'll be sure to take very good care of the psu then my friend. Thanks for the heads up
Hi John, I followed this up with line 6 for you and you'll be delighted to know that there is still an aftermarket psu available for the pod and many other line 6 products. It's the PX-2G and here is a link for you : www.google.com/search?q=line+6+px+2+g&rlz=1C1GCEB_enDE842DE842&oq=line+6+px+2+g&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l6.3201j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
It's around £20 and its the approved replacement. I hope this gets you back up and running mate! 👍😊
You can use a laptop power supply, it'll have the correct voltage and higher amperage. Or head down to the local goodwill and start trying some
