@@lunarialoonatic I disagree with that because while she obviously wasn't as magical as her family (since she didn't have magic), she definitely was as special as her family was at that moment. In fact you could argue that she is more special.
All of their magic couldn't stop the magic from dying.
It took Mirabele's gift of empathy to heal the family which allowed the magic to come back. At which point she was gifted the magic of creation. The second she plugged the door knob into the house, the house became an encanto.

So much so that it doesn’t seem like it could possibly be played by the same person- so much talent! My husband would not believe me when I told him that was the same person who played Rosa on Brooklyn99
When she sings "She's the perfect golden child" I get so emotional, you can feel the bittersweet proudness mixed with sadness and jealousy, amazing work

Stephanie Beatriz plays Rosa in "Brooklyn 99" where she has a low and rough voice so I was really shocked when I heard this song!
Surface pressure is such a good song. But every song was crushed by the voice actors.

I love how you describe Stephanie’s voice are happy and smiley and then you see her doing Rosa Diaz (Brookline 99) voice and its such a change. I was baffled when I saw who was doing Mirabel

"She can sing." Exactly what my husband said, and he normally can't abide the typical Disney singing voice. This is one score he actually liked.
I love how you said that the actress voicing her has a very light voice and like “happy” because if you heard Stephanie Beatriz(the voice actress) on her role as Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn 99 you wouldn’t even think that they’re the same person, she literally can shift her whole personality with her voice and in some interviews she sometimes shifts from her normal voice to her Rosa Diaz and it’s really amazing lol just a fun fact that I thought you should know
Idk if I’m listening to the lyrics to much, but the way they describe Isabel vs Luisa actually kind of tells that Luisa is over looked like she was struggling with. Mirabel used so many different ways to describe Isabel with graceful, beautiful, perfect, etc… however she only said Luisa was strong which is kinda what Luisa thought, that she was only useful for her strength and nothing else. Amazing writing by Lin Manuel Miranda like always

The vocal takes used in Surface Pressure are VERY interesting and unique. And there's a video about the music of Encanto where there were clips of the voice actors singing in the booth so you could use that too! Maybe I hope you could talk about how Stephanie Beatriz who plays Mirabel in this changes her voice for her roles. (She plays officer Rosa Diaz in Brooklyn Nine Nine and her voice is super low and monotonous there!!) She's also in In The Heights!
I love Stephanie Beatriz so much, I didn’t know she’d be in this & as soon as I heard her voice I recognized her & was so very pleasantly surprised. Delivered 200%, loved her in this . In an interview she talks about how much she loved making this movie & how much fun she had doing it , and it paid off & shows so much. Love her

Her power is actually with Casita (the house). Casita listens mostly to Mirabel throughout the whole movie. When she’s hurt after they left her out of the family picture, Casita began to crack and all and the candle was “weaker”. Bruno patches her wounds. Indirectly, he is trying to heal her by “healing” Casita since she is so unwell because of all the emotional and psychological wounds she has. But as we can see in the movie, sometimes you need to let it all out and have a new start/ a new perception of things. So basically Mirabel’s power is being closer to Casita than anyone else and well running everyone’s power lmao
(Well that’s what I understood of the movie and on what I’ve seen in some comments and all cuz I didn’t realize her power was being like tied to the house at first even tho it is like showed in the movie anywayyyyy)

I didn't see the Casita as the gift. I saw that the Casita might've picked Mirabel, in a way. I think that once Abuela is dead, Mirabel would probably be the "head" of the house.
Im not sure if it's a theory, and don't have much to back it up tbh, but this thought came to me one day and I thought I'd share.
