  • The most common failure points on Ford 2.2 TDCi engines (Ford Duratorq Turbo Diesel Common-rail injection):
    - Oil pump
    - Timing chains
    - Cylinder head
    This car came in the shop, with blinking oil pressure warning light. Lets see how bad was the main and the conrod bearings and what was the main issue for this warning light caused by low oil pressure.

    It's really strange trying to buy spare parts from Ford. I needed a replacement spring clamp for the radiator hose, and the Ford dealer said the clamp only comes with the whole hose! It would be 50-60 euros, no way as I spending that much.

    Very interesting, in south africa we have these engines give more issues on the injectors, and cylinder wear which causes piston slap, aswell as frequent oil cooler failures

    How is the reliability on Mondeo 2016 2.0 tdci with AWD, are they any good? Some say bullet proof and some say problem 😕

    🙏 Thank you for this. Have a used van with 70000 on the clock. Had problems with the 2.0 in the past and had been told the 2.2 was a better engine.
    I think i will now change the oil pump just to be on the safe side of things.
    Any other issues i should look into??

      I've heard the opposite the 2.0 is more reliable than the 2.2

      That stupid oil pump is in all their diesels. But if you know about it and do oil change within 10min so it doesn't get air inside, you should be fine. Then somewhat common issue can be EGR valve, intercooler splits and it's pipe crack. Then there's normal stuff that applies to all turbocharged engines no matter the brand. Turbo is more sensitive if you run it cold and short distance a lot, and so bi-turbo will be even more sensitive. It's good to give it a longer run (>30min/50km) to blow out the carbon deposits, and let it do particle filter burn cycle. Check manual when your engine does that - I think must be fully warmed up and have over 50% fuel tank. Then treat it well and it will last. Change engine oil often, and the gearbox oil every 50kkm and don't believe the bs even Ford service says that "gearbox doesn't require oil changes".

      Because the video is kind of old, I can't remember how hard is on this vehicle, but on most of the Fords you should be able with the engine installed in the car

    Do you know if the TDCi 1.5 has the same issues?
    I wonder why Ford uses Citroen parts.... Seems totally unacceptable to me! I never had faith in French cars, and now they have sneaked into Ford, too!!!

      I think the 1.5 tdci is their own design, its not the same as the 1.6 tdci which was a psa engine. I might be wrong tough
