    i am mainly interested in this for pc gaming + watching youtube 3d content + movies. How good and sharp is it for that? They do not support VR right? But still have 2 separate screens. Googled alot, lots of info available on it for flying with drones but almost nothing about how good it is when it comes to gaming and watching movies.

    I just purchased these goggles on Ebay for $200. The first thing I had trouble with was connecting it to my Mavic Air1, but they eventually worked after a firmware update. I was wondering if you know how to calibrate the compass using just the goggles, it will not let me do it until, I hook the controller back up to my phone. I then have to disconnect the phone and re-connect the goggles. It's kind of a pain in the rump.

    Probably the best review of the DJI goggles, and I've watched a ton. Very keen to see the P4 Pro and goggles review.

    You say that you can focus the goggles if you wear prescription glasses . I have not found this. And the image in my goggles m with my glasses is decidedly blurred. I am experimenting with “Off the shelf”reading glasses. And having some success. But I’m already three times my prescription and still have a way to go

      The goggles work great with the P4P - you have to use the HDMI cable, but they work great with it!

    Could I still use my I pad air2 with the hand controller and the wife use the goggles - Thanks, great information. I want it even more now...... She will be back at the end of the week and I will show her this video - Is there any rumors DJI goggles 2 will be out soon ? DJI likes to roll out the new/improved quads pretty fast - same with goggles?

  • @An.Individual

    Nice review. I have found one negative with the goggles. The only optic adjustment is IPD, no diopter. The projected image is very close, I need to wear reading glasses when using the goggles, I dont need glasses for anything else including reading or FatSharks.

    i have to admit, after waiting since September for the goggles, when round #1 happened last month i was mad. Well, round #2 I was ready ! They are suppose to ship in two days, yahoo ! the way things happen in China, I predict we will see absolutely amazing changes in the next year. GREAT TIME to be into the FPV Hobby !

    Great video Kelly! I just installed the HDMI Module for my PH4P Obsidian but it's not working properly with or without my RE Goggles. As soon as I plug in the mini Hdmi cable thats running from the headset to the controller, the video feed disappears from my iPhone. I am never able to get a video feed even without the iPhone. When I try to enable HDMI in the headset it tells me that I am not connected and I made sure to enable simultaneous image output to app and Hdmi as well as Display OSD on HDMI Output. Any ideas? Thanks much.

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  6 років тому

      Hmmm...I have not tried the RE Goggles with my P4Pro+ yet. Does your remote have the HDMI (or smaller mini? micro? HDMI) output? I don't think you can get a signal on the phone and the goggles at the same time, but you should be able to get it on one or the other without any problem. My cable is HDMI out of the controller to micro USB into the goggles. Is that what you are using?

    • @Zeppy007
      @Zeppy007 6 років тому

      Thanks for the quick reply. I am using a micro HDMI to HDMI cable with a female to HDMI Male adaptor so it fits in the new $99 DJI board on the controller. You can watch iPhone DJI Go 4 app at the same time, that was the point of modifying my controller. Check this video out Kelly and let me know what you think!

    I just received my DJI googles and the HDMI cable that came with the goggles will not fit in the Phantom 4 controller. The HDMI end of the cable is a full size connector. How were you able to connect your HDMI cable to your controller?

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  7 років тому

      There are two sizes of HDMI. One of the cables that comes with the goggles should be a micro HDMI on one side and regular HDMI on the other side. The micro side plugs into the goggles and the regular side plugs into the Phantom 4 controller. The Phantom 4 controller should have a full size HDMI output that you can plug the cable into...I know that the P3 does not have HDMI out, but I thought the P4 did have full HDMI out. Please let me know how it goes.

    • @billyfutch1473
      @billyfutch1473 7 років тому

      Ready Set Drone Thanks for the quick response! For what it is worth my Phantom 4 black edition can't accept the full size HDMI cable that came with the googles. In fact I installed the aftermarket HDMI module for the controller and it too will not accept a full size HDMI cable. In order to make this work, I'm going to have to find a mini HDMI cable with what appears to be a micro USB that will plug into the googles. I only received two cables with my googles. The first cable is a charging cord USB on one end and micro USB on the other that fits into the googles charging port. The second cable is a full size HDMI plug and the micro USB that will plug into the googles charging port.

    I found a video tip that helped. I need 1.25 reading glasses but I was still getting unclear view until I took the advice to double my reading glass power. It does help. You can't use narrow glasses to see all the HUD Info at top and bottom.

    My hdmi cable doesn’t plug into my controller. I purchased the module from Dji to be able to do so... then I find out that the cable that came with the goggle doesn’t fit, it needs another adaptor. Why can’t it be a solid 1 piece with no adapter... can you give some input. Thanks Arthur p4p

      Use the the USB cord to the remote not the HDMI I know he said HDMI but that not completely true instead uses the USB and start the controller then the drone and last the drone in that order. I hope that helps.

      tctheunbeliever yes! I have the Dji goggles and a Phantom 3 Pro. They work fine. They connect via hdmi (you have to have an hdmi port installed on you controller). They will not support head tracking though. They connect to any device with hdmi out. I also plug them into my laptop and watch previously recorded in hd.

    You mentioned that you connected the goggles to your Phanton 4 Pro controller to the HDMI port. My P4P controller doesn't have an HDMI port. Will it connect through the USB port like you would connect an iPad or Android?

    • @readysetdrone
      @readysetdrone  7 років тому

      Are you certain that it doesn't have an HDMI port? Mine does - right in the back of the controller. It's full size HDMI. I'm sure that it's standard on the Phantom 4 Pro.

    • @russhicks6350
      @russhicks6350 7 років тому

      Do you have a Pro+? On my Controller I only have two connections - a USB and a mini-USB and they are both marked with the USB symbol. I investigated and in the instruction manual it states that you connect the Pro+ and the Infiniti 2 with the HDMI but you use the USB cable for the 4 or 4 Pro. I've also seen videos of a module upgrade that you can get for the 4 controller to add an HDMI port so now the question is, should I do that, or will the bird react the same with the USB connector as the HDMI connector. My email address is russ.hicks@pspinfo.us if you want to send me your contact info. I'll take a picture of the back of my controller if you would like to confirm that I haven't lost my mind :)

  • @spmartin
    @spmartin 7 років тому

    Great video. Thanks. I wish someone would address the challenge for "non-millenials" who wear glasses. This has been my greatest challenge, and I still don't have it solved. I am nearsighted, so my glasses are progressive bi-focals. But the "close" part of my lenses are still calibrated to focus at about 18". So, because I am nearsighted, I tried with no glasses. DJI screen was still "soft". My optometrist suggested I try weak magnifier reading glasses. I tried 1.0 - 2.50, and realized I needed glasses weaker than 1.0. So, I ordered two pair from Amazon - one .50 and one at .75. Closer, but still no luck. I may try .25. Or, have a new exam and have my doctor determine the proper strength (may be different for each eye).
    I wish DJI would provide some information regarding the distance from my eyes to the screens. I may just have to take the goggles with me to my appt.
    Anyone else have tips, trick regarding this situation. I truly wish DJI had opted to add a diopter adjustment to these!!

    These really suck. Only fit a freakishly shaped head. None adjustable top of head piece so they will topple off your head since you cannot get your head deep into the strap. They are very heavy. Don't have a diopter adjustment so unless you have perfect vision there is not way to adjust them so you will try to wear reading glasses under the hood - good luck with that. They do not work with their flagship drone the Inspire 2. DJI generation 1 product always suck but these are a new level of crap design.

    Holy F@ck I just discovering this now. So you record your flight using these fancy overpriced $500+ goggles and you cant even play back the footage unless you tinker with the formatting? What really?" Just absurd! One would think such a technologically advanced company would have the wherewithal not to leave out what is obviously useful end user functionality. Is it just me or should one not be able to plug the goggles into the drone to view its internal/sd card files that I just recorded. This is some sort of viewing device if I'm not mistaken, Right?. Kinda like the old days when you had to take your film in for developing.Then again being a MA owner since March 2018 and attempting to "communicate" with DJI "support" I'm not surprised. Highly unlikely I will buy from them again.
