Been watching this Masterclass video for years...still blows me away. I'm not a fan of listening to noodling and shredding, it's boring. This is not that. This is beautiful, expressive playing and tone, from clean to mean. Love the ending! - TONE IS EVERYTHING - 😍
This man can play and so many beautiful sounds he's got it nailed. I believe mine is a 2004 model the 83rd or 86th one made I've never had one problem it's built like a tank if you can't find your tone in that amplifier it don't exist plain and simple you have to play one for yourself.
From New Zealand in the South Pacific thanks for this spectacular Bad Cat demo Sam, you covered all parts of the tonal spectrum so professionally. Cheers, Malcolm - "Guitars Rock"
This is pretty much THE best Hot Cat 30 video in existence. Not in terms of what the amp is or it's features, but how it sounds and how to play it(playing with dynamics, touch and great feel). Bravo!
I have a HC30 that belongs to my bass player and he wants to sell it to me. Same year as this one. Have you compared it to the newer Bad Cat line. Only thing I wish it had is an FX loop. Only thing that keeps me from pulling the trigger. I've gigged with it on a number of jobs and love the tone.
@@paulduke7371 How do you like it then? How much clean headroom in channel one? Can you gig with it clean? Is it loud enough? And that fx loop... Is it any good?
great demo finally found one. Definitely sounds like what I just played in the store. Im going back to try one more time and probably walk out with it. Love Bad Cat 30R Hand Wired.
Anyone tell me if the new Hot Cats without tone stacking but dual channel and the k-master volume 2014 and on are as good as this Sampson model which I played? Need to make a decision!!!!!
APPLAUSE on the best demo of this amp. Wow they sold it the same day. Does anyone know if the new ones before the original maker are better? I mean this is what I just played and its amazing. I went back the next day and I guess some guy was listening in hearing I was coming back today and snagged it. It was sold sometime after I left which is odd because it was sitting there for months and I decided to play it.... A 2004. Are the models after 2011 just as good?..Not the same company anymore....since he died right? .Better, worse? I want one!!! I just don't know what to get now....The features are different on the new ones thats for sure.... but maybe for the worse??? Need help. lol. New or before 2011?
If I understand correctly, it's not something Mr. Vilo added to the amp. Not exactly sure of the history, but Mark Sampson, who was involved with Bad Cat during the time this amp was designed/built, was previously working with Matchless. So, it's just possible he (Sampson) was working with Matchless parts during the early builds of the Hot Cat.
Pretty much. After Mark left Matchless and moved onto the initial designs of Bad Cat, my guess is leftover parts that Mark had. My early Hot cat 30 has parts inside that are labeled Matchless.
After Matchless went Bankrupt in the late 90's the original owner of Bad Cat (who Mark Samson worked for) bought the initial parts inventory from Matchless. After that Bad Cat continued buying the parts from the same supplier who Matchless had used. The rights to Matchless were bought later and are now being built by another company very close to the original spec. FYI I have been playing modern USA built Bad Cat amps (overseen by John Thompson) for the last 7+ years and absolutely love them!!!

Hi Sam! Great tone! Quick question---do you prefer the badcat hotcat to the suhr badger amps? If so, why?
Well, Badger series is very good, small, portable etc... Hot Cat series is different sounding (IMO) both are good ;)

I know this video is a couple years old and don't know if I'll get a answer, but what cabinet are you using? or is that a combo amp? Thank...
He's running it with a 2x12 cabinet with Celestion Heritage G12-65 spkrs.
Sam Vilio ! You are getting closer to the best ......Jukka...
Sam - Hot Cat 30 vs. Badger 35? What do you think?
When it said matchless parts, are you using parts from a matchless amp?
