NEW Bad Cat "Hot Cat" THE Definitive Demo

- The award-winning Hot Cat was introduced in 2005 to great
accolade. Over time, subtle refinements were made, and the
awards kept coming. As pleased as we are with the original, the time has come for a whole new Hot Cat. We took everything we
have learned over the last 20 years and applied it to this cutting-edge reimagining of the Hot Cat.
Channel 1 features the signature Bad Cat sparkling clean tone
with brilliant highs and abundant lows. Channel 2 is a flame-throwing high-gain channel with extraordinary string-to-string
note definition and rich harmonic content. We added a Lo/Hi
selectable gain switch allowing Channel 1 to offer huge amounts
of clean headroom or drive into 70’s-like crunch tones and
everything in between. In Channel 2, you can now toggle between
two distinct flavors of gain, from crunchy blues to metal. The
gain combinations on the new Hot Cat are virtually limitless.
Also new to the Hot Cat is studio quality reverb, custom-tuned
to work flawlessly with each channel. Additionally, we have
added a completely transparent, buffered effects loop that will
work with both digital and analog effects. The new two-button
footswitch allows toggling between channels and the Lo/Hi
gain mode settings, offering four distinct tones, all from one
footswitch.

Most importantly we would love to see you in-store. Chances are, Nate, or one of his smiling staff members will greet you at the door. Since 1963 our number one core value has been the golden rule, treating others the way you wish to be treated. As musicians ourselves we wanted to create an environment that was inviting to everyone. So come see us in our main showroom in Springfield, Missouri - and tell Nate you watch his videos on UA-cam; it'll make his day, guaranteed.
Thanks for watching this demo by our very own Nate White and Nash Smith. Smooth, silky audio by Nash Smith and video wizardry by Charlie Parker.
I have more hours than I care to admit watching gear demos, and I think this was one of the best I've ever watched. I hope the YT algorithm will be in your favor moving forward, top shelf content. Cheers!
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support!! It means the world to us. God bless!
I have a Black Cat 30r head from the early 2000's, it's literally point to point hand wired (no turret board) and has a bunch of Matchless branded parts. It's one of the early models after Bad Cat bought all the remaining Matchless parts when Mark Sampson came over. Amazing amp but sounds quite different from the new Black Cats, the old ones are basically Matchless C30 with what Mark Sampson said was an improved circuit to lower the noise. Great Amps, really under-rated.
You make the best videos! Very nice tones, good playing, entertaining and very good information.
In fact, I bought a Bad Cat Hot Cat (former series) after watching (and listening) to your videos.
Thank you so much for that wonderful comment, that’s encouraging! ❤️🙏
this is exactly why the hot cat is the best! So incredibly versatile and tone filled !! wonderful demo!
Thanks Mark! I appreciate you saying that and I agree, I tend to be partial to the Hotcat myself. As someone who leans towards the “single coil family of tones”, I really like this amp for that. 👍
You make really quality videos. Hope the channel takes off for ya
Thank you so much! That means a lot to us. ❤️🙏
The amp sounds great, but that “meow” had me looking around for my cat for a little bit longer than I care to admit.
Mission accomplished! 😂😅 😸 I appreciate you watching, commenting, and continuing to be such an encourager. Thanks Ryan!
I didn't realize how much I needed the cat eyes in the logo into now.
I’m sure the cat eyes will live on in the Handwired series. That said- We still have a few of the “old school” players series left… give us a call if you’re interested!
Is the guy doing the amazing playing classed in Missouri as a red neck? Just asking for a friend in the uk.
😄😂😅 probably. Thanks for watching, commenting, and subscribing! 👍
Great sounding amp, good playing 👍
Thank you Kevin! 🙏
Terrific demo, excellent playing and entertaining dialogue. Bravo boys.
Thank you, I’m so glad you like it! These amps are truly remarkable and this was a really fun series of demos to make. The Hotcat has a special place in my heart for sure.👍
@@naterevolution I have a Friedman Smallbox. 50watt el34 hottrodded marshall sound. Do these bat cats do something different enough to justify? I love this and the Lynx both
@@jordanmartin324 the Lynx has more gain than the Smallbox for sure. The Hotcat is a little closer to the Smallbox. I would go with the Lynx if you were looking for something different than the Smallbox.👍
That is a great sounding amp!
Agreed! Thanks for watching and posting the comment.👍
BEST DEMOS here!! Blows away ANDERTONS! The Paul Revere and the Raiders to ANDERTONS failed British invasion!!
Wow the P90s were definitely the best! Fantastic sounding amp! Loved the Tele too, I'm a sucker for double binding.
Absolutely 1000% agree and thank you so much for your comment!
Nice Izzy reference
I was raised on GnR! 🎩🎸
I'm late to the party but I just want to commend you on the outstanding review! As a result I purchased this amp. Unfortuntely I opted to purchase it n Canada, as it seems more feasible. Im from Thunder Bay. I know the whole idea of your video is to hopefully garner attention to your company sales. Sorry about that. I don't mean to be ignorant but again I was very impressed with the professionalism of this and the other Fat Cat reviews. I watched them all very extensively, many times over. Fantatic playing and very natural and fluid commentary! You're a couple of cool "CATS"! Cheers!
Thank you so much for the encouragement! 🙏
Subscribed and love your demos. Question: do you prefer the new 45 Hot Cat to the USA Player 30r or vice versa? Thanks!
I like the Hotcat, but my new favorite is the Jet Black. Thanks for your encouragement and for subscribing! We appreciate you!!!
im liking this kitty
😂👍
what mics are you using nate? sounds wonderful!
Hi there Sweet-Jay! I used a Shure Sm57, a Rode R10 and a Warm Audio WA87 R2
@@nashdude2 thanks Nash! I have 1/3 of them, better update my Christmas list for my wife. Wish me luck haha
How does that the new hot cat compare to the new cub? I need cleans and light to medium drive and great tone at low volumes.
Based on that criteria I would go with the Cub👍Great cleans and breaks up beautifully.
Sooooo are y’all having a discount on the “old” models now?? 😁😁😁
Hi Sam, Thank you for watching! Please call the store tomorrow. I'd love to discuss this with you!
-Nash
Ya know…. Out of all the videos so far the Lynx X still holds my interest more. Yep! They’re all great ya know but… for overall everything in one package I’ll take the X. So I suppose I’ll have to wait for a close out deal as I’m sure they will be discontinued.
Hi MIchael! You're in luck my friend! We actually still have one of these in stock (Brand new) Please reach out to us tomorrow if you're interested!
@@nashdude2 , so does MF and they have 20% off! And 48 mo interest free.
Just bought a lynx. Great amp. Struggles with cleans, but that’s not its shtick.
Pumpkin spice kinda thing? Hah!
Which is better for heavy rock (STP, Motorhead) etc? Hot Cat or Lynx? Not scooped but RAWK & ROLL (JCM 800)?
The Hotcat, 1000%. The Lynx is too much gain for that vibe. (in my opinion) When you say STP, my mind instantly goes to the myriad of guitar tones on the album, Purple. That’s a wide variety of gain to explore. There is nothing there that is bone crushing. There is a spectrum of “snarl and grit” that Dean DeLeo paints so beautifully with on that album. Have you heard Trip The Witch? That’s Dean from STP and Tom Bukovac. Tone paradise!
@@naterevolution thanks! Checking Trip The Witch now!
P90s sound nice thru that amp!
Agreed!!! Thanks for watching and commenting Chuck!
So guys, just got my new version 45 watt Hot Cat Bad Cat combo from Guitar Center, not alot of stock out there, and alas it's unusable and I will be returning it because it has an unbearably loud hissing when the volume and gain are turned up even before halfway on the 2nd 'hot' channel. There must be something wrong with the amp as it's just ridiculously bad hissing where again there's just no way I or anyone could deal with it, as it's just so bad. So bummed as I even got the matching 1 12 Hot Cat cab and had my new combo half stack all set up in my home studio ready to go on my You Tube vids, but alas have to return both this week to Guitar Center. Fuck me in the goat ass as Adam Sandler said. Really great amp, I'm guessing there is just something amiss with mine. Talked to the owner/manager of Bad Cat amps a few times this past month and the guy was incredibly kind and generous and helpful with his time and answering my questions about this amp, this before I got it however. Please don't let my hissing experience with my purchase sour you guys on taking a chance with a Bad Cat amp purchase as they do sound really incredible. Again, just think there must be a bad tube or something else making mine hiss like a fucking banshee and I'm not an anal-retentive guy that returns gear because of minor shit, I buy a lot of gear, believe me this is a major issue with this amp I've got unfortunately. Would be great to hear anyone's take on this issue I'm having, tube related I'm thinking.
Did you check your cables? Maby you using bad cables or the wrong ones?
Just fix it whiner.
So, can the 'Hot Cat' pretty much attain all of the tones that the 'Cub' has (and more, of course), or does the 'Cub' have a different voice?
The Cub is voiced a little different to my ear and it is a little more of a Voxy (EL84) amp. If you wanted a good clean and more of a variety of gain, the hot cat checks the boxes. If you wanted a wider dynamic of clean to semi-dirty tones that can also get pretty snarly, but not as saturated as a hot cat, the cub is a winner. Hope that helps!
@@naterevolution Perfect, that really helps! Thanks 👍
Will it chug?
It’ll chug- not as chuggariffic as the Lynx, but a hearty chugger nonetheless.
So you're saying even in the clean there is a bit of dirt but on the bad cat website it says "Channel 1 features the signature Bad Cat sparkling clean tone with brilliant highs and abundant lows." SO it doesn't get sparkling clean?
Hi Ross, Nash with Palen Here. There is plenty of clean headroom on Channel one. What Nate is saying primarily is that channel one is very voxy and has a Muscular presence that adds more bite than someone might be used to. However, that can be tamed relatively easily by rolling the presence down.
@@nashdude2 Much appreciated, thank you!
If its anything like their player series hot cat the chan1 is quite… gainy. Even with k master its hard to get clean and loud.
//e: with burstbuckers in my lp , volume half way on channel one is… already absolutely wild. So this seems tamed by lots. !
@@xriz8409 I totally agree, the original was alittle wilder. They've listened to customer feedback and increased the headroom by 15 watts to combat this. The new amp is 45 watts vs 30.
-Nash
@@xriz8409 From what I'm seeing the new hot cat can go sparkling clean on channel 1 now but the lynx unfortunately does not. The lynx will get clean but still has some breakup. Apparently it used to be opposite in the last gen PS. Lots of mixed feelings about this new lineup, such a shame. Hopefully it will change when people actually hear the new gen themselves.
This amp covers A to Z imo! Fat pumpkin' rock, clean Tele - country, blues, jazz! I love spring reverb but this reverb delivers a beautiful huge sound. The best part - NOT MADE IN China! U.S.A.made!!!!!
Totally agree 👍
The cats eyes are no longer there on the logo..really ??. A Bad Cat ain’t a Bad Cat without the lightly up cats eyes !
I believe the eyes will live on in the Handwired series…
Can you spell to raspy. not for me
turn it up just a choad
We will increase the volume by one of those units of measure next time 😄👍
@@naterevolution 😉😂
I will be buying one of these new Bad Cats for Xmas, love your vids 👍👊🏻
