- Can the Bad Cat Lynx actually do metal?
I put it through it's paces - low gain, High gain & even cleans! I play it with & without a boost pedal, dial in both channels with high gain & low gain too. I also try multiple boost pedals with it. I also play it in a full, 1 take mix.

Wow! It CRUSHED in the mix
I’ve been looking at this amp for awhile may be my next, it’s perfect for your channel
Thanks for commenting. It's certainly unique and awesome. It's a great fit for my studio
Sounds really good !
Sick amp. Great video!
Sounds Great!
I think you just sold me this head. I was looking hard at the 5150 50w Stealth. After your demo, Bravo!
Another excellent review/demo. You really ripped in this one. Your playing style and tone is a match for a beefy little cat like this. These are really great amps. I was very close to getting one but picked up a BE-100 Deluxe instead.
Thank you 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Congratulations on the new amp!
Make that money brother!! You have proven your integrity & character plenty. Look forward to the rest of the video
Thank you!!
I like that more amps are mirroring the Diezel thing where the eq knobs follow a useable range. It makes recalling tones way less touchy and precise and makes it so the amp has no “bad” settings.
Your sleeves called. They're ready to come home.
Still loving my Lynx almost a year since I bought it. The only thing I’ve struggled with is the massive volume jump between the Lo and Hi modes on each channel. But damn it sounds great!!
I was hoping you get to try one of these soon. I knew you would love it. I got mine recently, and I haven't played anything else. Hell, I loved it so much if I lived in the U.S. still, I probably would have shipped it to you, just so you could try it out. The low can get a bit crazy but nothing like my Framus cobra. That thing needs rehab for low end.
Thanks for commenting. I'm so glad I got to play it
my compliments for the video. It's all a guitar player want hear. Not a tons of solo notes but rhythm for listen the taste of an amplifier. Very good work !!!👍
Thank you!!
Awesome!!
Very cool amp. The hi-gain tones are somewhat reminiscent of how the Salvation Audio Camerock sounded.
I love Bad Cat amps because they have an amazing clean channel that most high gain amps lack. Want to try the Lynx as I have only tried the Hot Cat which also is a great rock blues amp.
This thing is an absolute monster. Probably the best sounding amp I’ve heard on your channel and I’ve watched nearly all of your videos. Will you be doing ToneX captures for this?
Thank you! I'll be working on those soon
I got a pristine one from GC used about a year ago. It was atrocious even though I rolled quite a few tubes in there to give it a chance so I immediately returned it. Don't be fooled by these videos.
@@RockNRoller66this one is a new version of the amp that's been totally revoiced. The older versions didn't sound anywhere as good as these ones do. They absolutely crush.
@@TomMcCormickGuitar Sorry, I was mistaken. I had that low end Cougar that is no longer made. Just basically another mid-wattage clean power amp with what resembles a horribly fizzy and useless distortion box as an excuse for a preamp. I would liken it to my friend's son's Peavey Windsor head (quite possibly the worst tube amp ever created, bar none).
Make Quad cortex and Kemper profiles PLEASE!!!
I hope they come out with a 100w version. Another gem of a demo, Jarrod. Well done.
Thank you! I'm thinking they will release a 100 watt version. What a beast that would be
Not trying to be negative but do you gig stadiums , cause can't a 50 watt handle pretty much any gig just fine, especially 🎤 Ed up ?
50w / 100w difference has little to do with volume and everything to do with feel.
@@JonBingham has more body ? Bass ? Presence?
Stadiums, no, but when you're competing with an SVT and a 100w Orange... and no one turns down, well... But I do often play larger venues (festivals and 800-1500 capacity halls). In my experience, those are better served by a 100w head.@@dust17111
Great vid! How does this compare to the Hiwatt Super Hi 50 you tried a while back??
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
If memory serves, this amplifier is a bit meaner than the Hiwatt.
Awesome! Sounds great. Any chance of a comparison with Mesa offerings? Badlander? Mark VII? JP2C?
Thank you. I'll definitely shoot it out with some amps soon
Overall great tone. The amp is a little vanilla for my taste but definitely delivers a rich driving slap to the ears. Great playing!!! Still wanting to hear you rip on a MLC Subzero.
Thank.you. I'd love to rip one of those. Hopefully I come across one
Hit that thumbs up
Sick amp, like a dual rec cross mark 4
Cool amp
It really is!!!
Can you review the badcat hot cat 45 too? The lynx sounds like it's got too much gain
If I get my hands-on one, I'll be happy to do that.
You can always back the gain down on the Lynx, there's plenty of headroom either way
I m really thinking of getting this amp, but i m a bit scared of the shared eq. Is it possible to have a usable clean tone in first channel while having a really good hi gain in the second ? also yeah as someone else mentioned in the comments i would like it to be 100w cause i m afraid i ll get this one and later on they will release the 100w version. great review btw
Thank you very much, I'm glad you liked the review.
You can absolutely get a great clean channel and an awesome high gain channel with the same EQ settings.
I typically don't like a shared EQ, but it works really well on this amplifier
Awesome, did you buy this one? I love mine. Very unique.
It's gonna be on my shelf for a long time!
Good demo pal. I’m not into heavy metal but that isn’t why I’m here. This can get a certain sound I hear in my head. I’ve compared it with a Hot Cat and that sound isn’t there. One thing I would like to know, as you don’t have decibel meter behind you, how loud were the clean settings?
Thank you. It was about 100 decibels
Hey man, when it comes to the Lynx, is there any real difference in tone based on how you set the channel volumes and master volume?
I don’t know whether I should raise the channel volume and keep the master low, or keep the channel volumes low and raise the master.
Good question, I didn't really notice any tonal differences when adjusting the different volume settings
you make good reviews man, but plz change the camera couse fps are glitching all your videos

I’ve had a limited play time with it…but didn’t exactly love it. Had a sort of flubby and mid scoop d character. I thought the EVH 5150 still wrecks it, big time.
Thanks for commenting, I'm going to address a lot of these comments associated with the bad cat Lynx in Monday's Riffs and Responses video
What song is that riff at 22:27 from? Sounds sick!
Thank you. That riff is from my song "Night Terrors" Its on my forthcoming album that's releasing on Halloween. The video drops on Halloween too.
Would you take this or an Engl Fireball 100 as far as the brutality?
Good question....if memory serves, the Lynx is voiced a bit better and without the fizz
Chocolate cake
reminds me of the way the newer archon responds but with a little bit more complexity...an more lows.... sounds great ..I just wish it wasn't called bad cat ....sound like a cheep firework
It reminds me of the Archon a bit too. Good call
Mesa territory?????
Yeah it has a similar sound to marks
Hmmmm...hints of archon and.....it's really hard to find other similarities. It's very unique
YOu played "enter sandman" at 126.4 BPM. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT THE CORRECT BPM IS 115.8? Why play the riff if you aren't going to play it at the correct time signature? I am really smart because I have a girlfriend and a Helix! So I KNOW what I am talking about. My girlfriend says that I play "Enter Sandman" the best she has ever heard it played. She says I play it better than Megadeth and they wrote the song!!!!!
Bahahaha
@@TONEWARSgearshow Laugh all you want!!! But one day I will come on the show (with my girlfriend and she is a 6 out of 10) and we will destroy you playing Enter Sandman. That being said, I love the content and hope you keep making vids like this. Nice not being fed marketing hype!! And just so you know, My girlfriend is a vegan (but she is really hot) and I eat meat. I love eating meat. I cook meat until it is done on my grill. Do you HAVE a grill? I didn't think so. So that makes me a real man. Just know what you will be up against. And I have some rap music in my collection. SO I am also a bada$$!! And I also use Paypal. Ever heard of it?
@@benburnett8109 I live on soy products
@@TONEWARSgearshow Then you will at least have a fighting chance. My Girlfriend (who is a solid 6 out of 10) dropped a hundred pounds going to a soy based diet. She is almost under 200 know and is looking hotter than ever. So mad respect to you for living the "soy" life. Plus, she does not have nearly the irratable bowl syndrome that she used to have before switching to soy. Before soy, she could clear a room.
Whaaaaaaat the heck is an elementary student doing here? Grow up soon kid. There is more to life.
I dunno it's been over a year deciding on a new amp. There's always one or two things I"m not happy with and it stops me from pulling the trigger and I buy nothing. That thing has a great warm tight sound and I like that the effects loop is solid, but 50 watts, two channels. sigh.
Thanks for commenting, I hear you regarding the 50 W.
I switched all of my amps to 100 W versions a couple of years ago because I think they sound bigger and better as well. That said, this thing really sounds amazing. It's very thick and aggressive
Super cool they're paying you , because you might have just sold one for them . I don't like only 2 channels but I could make it work.. I think.. I like 100 watts too and not 50 cause 100 watts always sounds a bit bigger from most other amps. My splawn effects loop sucks dick so it's cool that has a good one. So right about bad effects loops in amps.
Thanks so much for commenting, yeah that's one of my pet peeves, bad effects loops.
I'm surprised that your Splawn amp has a bad effects loop, I have the Nitro and the effects loop on it is amazing. Do you have a older one?
@@TONEWARSgearshow Yes I do have an older one and it's not the nitro it's the quick rod cause I"m an 80's dude. I think that's why the dude sold it to me on reverb cause the effect loop is jacked and he didn't want to deal with it. Maybe not though.. I actually called and talked to mr splawn about it. Great guy and he's said it might because there's dust in there and to blow it out. Tried that and yeah still shit, but it's all good. You win some you lose some. I want something else anyways. Leaning el34 evh 100 watt. Maybe I dunno I'm just a picky little bitch.
@@TONEWARSgearshow Should also mention that quick rod is stiff as balls. Which i'm a decent player I can handle it, but it has no sag. It's just kinda like errr yeah whatever. I just want big , fat, tight, warm and juicy (sounds sexual ) with the perfect accoutrements . Looking for the perfect amp and really taking my time.
I think you just sold me this head. I was looking hard at the 5150 50w Stealth. After your demo, Bravo!
