These under $10 videos are both informative and motivational. Motivational because every time I watch one I leave the house to go purchase a few of the items. 🤘
2:37 I know this video is a few months old but I thought I would give a heads up on that point. I don't know about the regular Fastback but the 6 in 1 version DOES have a spare blade slot. It's on the INSIDE of the side that lacks the pocket clip. If you look closely you can see a bit of the plastic handle cut away to allow access to the retention tab that keeps the spare blade in place. The fastback 6 in 1 doesn't ship with a blade in there but the slot does exist.
15:30 I have two of the big ones and the small one. I’ve had them for years. I don’t even remember when I got them. I’ve used the big ones so much, that collar is all loose. lol But it still works just fine.
You should do ace, or whatever the local hardware chain is in your area, I also think it would be cool to see you hit these stores and put together some kits for under 100.
The smaller sharpies with the fine points are really good to carry and the ink really does work. I used one to mark on an exposed gas cap and it is still dark after 3 weeks. If you are willing to spend a little more for a screwdriver, they have a kit with a 1/4 in t6&8.
Given inflation, etc., this is an awesome series! But the Milwaukee PACKOUT behind you in nearly every shot give me an idea: can you do a series about starting with the cheap-but-acceptable gear and gradually upgrading to long-lasting quality gear?

Sometimes you can find the Milwaukee 6 in 1 for around $12 when HD does their Milwaukee clearances. Also it has a +1 blade storage that a lot of people don't seek to notice. Just FYI for anyone who happens to see this. Makes the Milwaukee a lot more appealing in my opinion
Great finds, especially the Kobalt 4mm driver. Now that you have a 3D printer, you could possibly mod the driver by printing a tube with threads on it to allow you to store the longer bits inside the driver.
This is a great series. I find most EDC commenters are focus on the latest thing made out of titanium from this small maker they are friends with. It is really nice to see practical easy to find tools.
I have a driver similar to the Craftsman pen style. The reason that it's not grippy, is that it won't actually handle that much torque without slipping the bit inside the holder. Then your driver may crack and never grip at all. I do have the Kobalt 4mm driver and the handle is suberb. Its like it holds tighter and tighter the harder you pull, but super easy if you disengage the lock.
I have the double drive I love it I just put a dab of RTV on it to keep them from coming out. The driver is great, my only problem is the bits can be a little brittle if you have to put any amount of real pressure on them. I have snap to and a Phillips.
Ever wanted a pair of EDC scissors that aren't the crappy ones on a multi tool? Look into folding/ sliding scissors, huge step up in usability, and online you should be able to find some for like $5 or less.
When the Nite Ize gear ties came out many years ago, I jumped on the band wagon. But I found with repeated use the metal piece inside the rubber snapped in every one. And it didn't take much either. They are probably ok if tied around something and not repeatedly opened and closed. I have not used them since. I wonder if this flaw has been improved. I doubt it as I do t see them used by content makers anymore. Budget gear is great to a certain extent, but I can't help but wonder how long these items in your video will last with frequent use. My experience is that budget gear usually does not last. For example, what about the quality of the Craftsman bits? How well do they stand up when used compared to say WIHA bits? Please do a followup video on this gear after you have used these items for at least a couple of months. I would like to know how well this stuff holds up. My experience with Kobalt branded tools has not been great. Mostly its crap.
I have the craftsman screwdriver. carried it for years in my pocket organizer. i cut the rings that retain the driver and the craftsman logo at the top off with a saw to make it more compact and just carry the driver in a pen slot.
I'll have to try the index cards (be here tomorrow). I've been using stitched thin note pads with graph lines, I get the bigger ones then cut them to fit my shirt pocket but, they're not all weather. Rain is not really an issue for me but, sweat will soon be.
I have that same nitize doohickey and yes it does catch on your pocket. However, i moved it to my wallet and its still with me everywhere and gets used often.
the kobalt 4mm quick-load driver mechanism is really good. Lowes used to have a quick-load handle for standard size bits, but was discontinued, I'm lucky to still have one hanging around
Man I'm just starting this video and I can tell you Irwin is the bosses boss when it comes to hand tools, however its hard to beat a Milwaukee power tool. I've got Irwin vice grips and hole saws that have outlasted tool truck brand tools and straight up embarrassed them. Definitely do Menards. Out of the big three home centers, it's my favorite and they have so much there! It's one of those stores where I go in for one thing and find myself looking at everything else.
I work at Lowes, and I know this was about $10 or less tools, but if one's budget can increase another $10 or so check out LENOX brand at Lowes, a very good and strudy brand IMO. For example, the LENOX LX250 vs Milwaukee FASTBACK Utility Knife, as wel as many other tools. IRWIN tools are a winner too. The one brand at Lowes I'm indifferent about is Craftsman and they're not a bad tool brand I own some Craftsman stuff, it's just Kobalt is a budget friendly Lowes brand and everything is backed and guarnteed by Lowes. If you buy a Kobalt tool at Lowes and it breaks a year or two later, take it back and pick out another one. My point though, is why have two budget brands competing in the same store/

I have a tpt slide that I attach to my belt loop with one of those nite ize key bungee things. It stays in my fifth pocket always and it's right there when I need it. I owned the Kobalt 2x driver for about 48 hours. The gears / ratcheting action was too rough for my taste. Even in this video the sound made me cringe! From my experience, pretty much every marker including sharpie pro is incapable of actually marking a wet/oily surface, despite their claims. I've gone to paint sticks and similar for that application. (Just my 2 cents from working in restaurants and railroads)
I have that craftsman 4mm driver and bit kit and use it all the time, and do often carry it in my pocket as part of my edc. Great size and has a great bit selection.
