- The Disney+ offerings keep on coming but that's not a good thing. MCU and Star Wars shows are coming out at a crazy-fast pace but the quality keeps going down. Just look at season 1 of The Mandalorian compared to The Book of Boba Fett. The production is night and day. Kenobi has ended but there are plenty more Star Wars spinoffs to come. Ms. Marvel is still going and after 3 episodes, I just don't care anymore. That seems to be an ongoing issue with these 6-episode arcs. They don't have enough story to justify the episodes. They also all follow the same writer's playbook, which I break down in the video. Sometimes less is more Disney. Hopefully you will come to that conclusion as well.

Pretty much agree with this. I think that they should treat these shows as actual tv shows instead of stretched out and overly padded movies. Make them episodic, where the heroes battle a different villain or take on a different case each week. And have a major storyline brewing in the background that ends the season.
That's what Mandalorian did which makes the rest of these things even more perplexing. They got it right the very first time!
I second that comment!! & Answer!! I was just about to make a similar statement...I thought the Mandolorian 1st season was phenomenal!! & 2nd wasn't as good but still held it's own! (Especially with that finally in S2!!)....still it is 10× better than what Disney is putting out now!!..(I guess they should have Jon for All these shows)..u can tell he knows his stuff & at least care enough to put his best effort into those production!!
Or stop getting inexperienced 20 year olds pushing agendas to write these movies and shows. Sw and MCU are dead. Horrible stuff.

I prefer one long story (if done correctly) then episodic. Take 'The Boys' or 'Umbrella Academy' as examples.
Remember all the direct-to-DVD sequels Disney was pumping for their absolute classic titles? They're doing it with the Star Wars at Disney+.

What's so ironic to me is that those shows had their episodes released all at once and it still feels like they are episodic. The D+ shows are released weekly and it feels like another section of a bloated movie
What kills me is now everyone is praising the NetFlix show’s. I remember that after Ironfist everyone praising those shows now, where hating those very same shows. This is the internet I guess.
Thank god someone is saying this. These tv shows are largely made without care. Compare these things that appear to be made all as fast as possible with other shows that have taken their time and not tried to expand their universe within movies and tv. I tuned out after what-if.
There are many in the UA-cam community that have been saying this for a long, long time. Of course, these same ppl have been labeled toxic, problematic, and bigoted by the access media, ppl at the helm of these shows, and Disney themselves. While I appreciate the fact ppl are waking up, these opinions are in no way new.
Check out critical drinker and nerdrotic. They also do an excellent job at picking apart the garbage modern Hollywood is crapping out.
There are so many other better tv shows out there, like Better Call Saul, Succession, The Boys that have actual care put into it, unlike the carbon factory trash that disney puts out

The Boys season one is good, I could only make it through a couple of episodes of season 2 and I'll pass on season 3. I know quite a few ppl enjoy the series and that's fine, I'm glad you found something you enjoy in the current shit show of Hollywood but it's to woke for me
So glad Adam mentioned the comparison to Better Call Saul. There's a show where you already know where pretty much every character ends up, yet it is so engaging and creative and pushes the characters into new territory that you can't not watch. Compare to Obi-Wan where you pretty much know where everyone already ends up, and because it's so uninspired you end up not caring and shut the TV off after a few episodes.

I was watching Kenobi and Ms marvel to kill my time and then started watching Bojack Horseman and got hooked into that so I lost interest in the Disney+ shows and now I am watching Better Call Saul and now Iam hooked into that

The only reason I enjoyed parts of Moon Knight was because of Oscar Isaac. How his personalities were portrayed. Everything else, I felt I'd seen already, and I guess I probably have because the shows are so similar in structure. The one show I absolutely disliked was Loki. All the praise that series got blew my mind.

Yeah. I enjoyed wandavision as it felt different and worked well as a tv show, also was kind of like an epilogue to endgame. I like Mandalorian a lot. But most the other shows have been a chore to watch.
Star wars seem to have the higher highs and lower lows. The only thing I’m sort of looking forward to is Andor. I want a dark gritty backstory where Andor had to do some questionable things for the sake of the rebellion. But I doubt Disney will allow something like that and we already know what happens to Andor. Thus the only real tension in the show will be from side characters that we haven’t seen in Rogue One. So it will most likely feel like Obi-Wan did. Sub par to shitty side characters that no one really cares about.
For god sakes get out of the Skywalker Era. Give the Mandalorian wars or the hyperspace wars of the old republic.
Funny, I was just having this very convo today with a friend who hasn't watched the MCU shows yet. It's baffling how they can have such huge budgets yet still look cheap, and that they don't seem to take any care when writing the scripts. Like you said, they're just rushing this shit out the door to keep content on D+ and it's really taking the excitement out of both franchises. Give me one or two Marvel movies a year, and a SW film every few years, that's enough.
Agreed. I think the Mandalorian is the best of all these shows but it gets over praised for simply not sucking. Which might be high praise given all the MCU and Star Wars content we've gotten the last couple years.

That's the problem with the streaming/subscription model. It depends on companies continuously shitting out 'content' in order to keep the public happy.
Better Call Saul is a masterclass of writing a show where you know how the characters end, yet it’s still interesting! What a difference good writing makes. Also, I think another UA-camr has copied your observations

I liked WandaVision (except the end) and Mando 1 & 2. That’s it. Rest are trash. (I did like the end scene with Obi-Wan and Vader when he said, “I am what remains.”)
On top of the padding for a lot of these shows is the fact that the credits after each episode are feature length and 7-8 minutes long, meaning you're usually just watching 35+ minutes episodes rather than properly structered 50 minute TV shows.
and for those 6 episodes cost about 160 millons

When you tweeted how these last 2 Marvel shows (one going)(for me the last 2) would have just the right amount content to be movies. I agree except on the point that how a movie would deal with Moon knight(ep. 5). Hawkeye maybe just a great buddy com. Your thoughts?
P.S. Wanda vision just a great set of 9 episodes and every week drop thing was just great.
You hit the nail on the head with this one, I agree with pretty much everything. What’s going to get annoying is now you have to watch these marvel shows to get story tie-in’s to the movies and with the ones I’m still yet to see that I have no interest in this is gonna be a bumpy ride. What I most agree with is Star Wars they should definitely move away from the Skywalker saga and just make original stuff, maybe base it hundreds of years in the past or future, I just wish they’d leave that New Hope era alone. I’m tired of seeing tattoine 😂
Oh, Kenobi is total crap. Even putting canon breaks aside, the story itself makes zero sense within the story itself. But I have had fun listening to critics bash the crap out of it--hilarious! And well-earned for Disney's content conveyer belt.
After watching a couple of shows outside of D+...i gotta agree..none of them haven't even reached the "Great" Standard For Shows IMO (In Terms Of Marvel Shows That Is, I don't have an opinion on the star wars ones since I Never Got Into Star Wars)
I just love all those great Star Wars stand alone films! Like Rogue One, and also Rogue One! I honestly don't trust them to do anything quality, boy that's sad.
I completely agree! I almost made a video on this same topic; these shows are getting so repetitive and lame. After Moon Knight was absolutely terrible, I lost all hope in these series. I also agree about Ms. Marvel. The energy of the first few episodes was great, but the plot has completely lost me at this point. And of all shows, She Hulk apparently has like 9 episodes.
Well said! Like, episode 4 of Obi-Wan Kenobi was so stock, but the thing that irked me the most was: this show is set ten years before A New Hope. In Obi Wan Kenobi, Aunt Beru looks 30 years old max, then a measly ten years later, Beru looks 60!🤣 Reva's Lightsaber was magically reconstructed, minutes after Vader pulled it apart. There were a few moments I really enjoyed, like Flea's running prowess, in fact it looked hilarious when any character ran in this show!👍🤘
Vader didn't pull the lightsaber apart, he separated it into two, making two lightsabers, Asajj Ventress' two lightsabers could be put together to make a double bladed lightsaber, that can just be done with some double bladed lightsabers, so Reva would've just joined the two together after, it wasn't magically reconstructed.
I liked Wanda vision despite its critics because it was actually about Wanda and her story. It wasn't perfect but it was about her. Loki was barely about Loki and we had maximum 2 good episodes. After that I gave up and cancelled my membership. Tried to watch Hawkeye with a friend but that just made me realise I made the right choice in moving away. It's cliché but true right now, End Game was the end of the MCU
End Game had to be my biggest cinematic disappointment ever.
If the Russos take over the Xmen, then I am VERY excited for future movies though
I never thought I would say this but watch the Orville and Star Trek Strange new worlds and you will see much higher production values and far better story telling the then in most of the Disney plus shows.
I stopped watching the MCU shows after Loki. The show lineup from Hawkeye and beyond didn't grab my attention and from what I heard the quality of MCU shows kept getting worse and worse. After the Obi Wan Kenobi disaster I'm pretty much done with Star Wars shows. I'm only going back to these Disney+ shows when they make something legitimately good.
I like the premise of loki and hawkeye, they just needed go cut the fluff and make a 2 hour movie. I hate that they care more abt $ than quality, character, or story.

1,000,000% Agree. It's just the Agendas and the Garbage Director's and Writers. They have good actors and actors do what the writers and directors tell them. Any actor of Breaking Bad will say that, it's all on the writers and directors. Improvising is super rare for it to come out Good. All these Disney shows look like the actors are just improvising the whole show.
I barely got through episode 2 of Moonknight, circled back around to finish it, and reaffirmed to myself that it wasn’t worth my time.
Streaming shows in general need to stop the must be 6, 8, or 10 episodes (whatever it is for that particular platform or show) or they must be around 30 minutes or an hour. The length of an episode and the length of a season should be dictated by the story - not the other way around. The way it is now, they either need to add filler content or breeze through important points. My biggest problem with most of the shows are they have too much to wrap up by the last episode that they forget a lot of the hanging threads and they breeze through the points they do 'solve'.
I don't fully agree with what's said in the video regarding the shows, but you are free to have said opinions.
Some of the shows can work as movies and I do agree with others that the episodes should at least be 8 episodes to flesh things out more, but I'm just having a lot of fun watching these shows with friends & that's what's important at the end of the day for me.
I think Batroc should have been the soul antagonist in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. That show should have been a lot like the Jack Ryan series on Amazon. All Disney gave us were characters we didn't need and a preachy subplot.
I think the Flagsmasher plot could've worked better if we'd actually seen the after effects of the Snap/Blip? Like the beginning of an episode, say ep3, should've been an extended flashback scene showing people disappearing, the horror, the confusion. Show elements of how the world changed. The poor or orphaned young people taken in, given jobs or training, a place in society. Cos they'd be needed you know? Half the population of earth gone, there's vital jobs everywhere needed. And then post Blip all that gets stripped away and they lose everything to make way for the returned? Show, rather than tell, how so many people were disenfranchised. A TV show could've had the time to explore that in ways a movie couldn't. I don't know. I'm reminded of how effectively flashbacks were used to introduce Bullseye in Daredevil s3.
@@ejbell Excellent example maybe Disney and Marvel should hire you as a writer. The series could have saved us a lot of unecessary plot points and focus more on a single man running an organization. I guy like Batroc could have really benefitted from the blip. Before the snap he was a mercenary, now he's possibly the most dangerous man on the planet. The whole super soldier thing they could have ditched.
Watch Arcane. Top tier writing in the absolute LAST place I expected to find it. Watching Arcane then trying to watch another show felt almost impossible...like going from perfect steak to a pbj.

By the way I completely agree with you. Me and my friends have been say the same thing. All of these shows feel like movie scripts stretched out for four more hours. Mando started off the same way. It has been like this since the start.

I always love rewatching episodes of Thomas the Tank Engine, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, Teen Titans, even rewatched Season 1 of Once Upon a Time like, last year. "Most of the stuff, I watch it, I a walk away never thinking about it again"... I won't ever watch that bad Boba Fett show again... or Loki- I didnt even finish FalcUp and Winter Soliderboy..... the problem is exactly as you say... and yeah, the stuff is made to be consumed- not appreciated. Real art is timeless and meant to last forever... what Disney+ has is food- at least pills... to be taken then never used again.

There was a time when a film or mini series, was about the story and the characters, and that was enough. The effects and customs and scenarios were there to enhance the final product and to made the overall performance more believable, so the audience could engage whit suspension of disbelieve easily. Good old days.
Lets hope for the best, maibe after bleeding enough they start popping out quality products. Good luck.

Because of the age difference (she's only seven years older than him); naturally by the time he becomes a Jedi Knight at age 18, she no longer sees him as a little brother and begins seeing him as a boyfriend. But she doesn't know what to do because Jedi forbid attachment . . .
Well, she doesn't have to worry about that for long. On their first mission together as Jedi Master and her young Jedi Knight; they are nearing victory when WTF . . . She yells "Darling! Watch out! Our clones are going crazy, they're trying to kill us!" . . . Because of her stature (two inches taller than him), the clones see her as the more lethal threat; she tells him to run while she holds them back . . . He is afraid he lost her . . . but suddenly; she appears behind him . . . The two escape . . .
Act 2 . . . 12 years later, the two, now dating, live their life hiding out in the open on a beautiful planet in the Core Words of the Galaxy, like Team Avatar in Fire Nation Disguises . . .

That's how I'd do a Star Wars movie :D And it wouldn't be kiddy like the Sequels; there would be a lot of enemy and ally limbs lost in the movie XD
Edit: Oh, and the hot Jedi Master, she's more physical where the Jedi Knight is more of a keeps his distances kind of person. So when she's a Jedi Knight and he's a Padawan, her blade is blue, his blade is green.
Both of them, their favorite color is purple, so by the time he becomes a Jedi Knight and she becomes a Jedi Master, at that point, they already switched their colors to Purple Blades (for the rest of their lives) :D

The MCU is the cinema equivalent to the Jack In The Box burger joints. Movies are pretty good with a decent variety but once you go on a diet and look at the ingredients you realize how bad for you it is

I forced myself through Moon Knight because I can't not finish. These shows have taught me to not even start them. Won't bother with them unless I get a guarantee that the entire thing is worth it.
The Pitch Meeting episode for it could have given me 6 hours of my life back. Still can't believe some people praise it as one of the best things Marvel TV has made. Ugh
They are trash. They're pumping out content just to keep people subscribed. Network television at least had a certain standard when it came to narrative structure in their episodes. Here, there is no structure. You just take what would have been a 2 hour movie and stretch it to fit 6 episodes.
Here’s an idea. Maybe put all the fox properties on Disney+.

I loved Loki (even though I admit it has some issues) it was just by far the most interesting and unique to me. I totally agree with you on all the other marvel shows
Loki was a lot like Kenobi to me. Both had incredibly talented actors in the lead roles reprising beloved characters, and had a few strong episodes, but the rest was mostly a mess.

Well, it's the same director as Ragnarok, which was also mostly a comedy, so what do you expect? There will be zero stakes once again, and any serious moments will be punctuated with a bad joke shortly after. Plus the whole movie will be filled with forced feminism and LGBTQ+ propaganda. I used to love Marvel, but now they are like a big stinky turd that won't flush down the toilet no matter how many times you try.
@LØNE WØLF ENT. The comic was forced feminism and was widely panned when it came out for that reason. It also only came out in the last decade, so it's not even a legacy Thor comic, just some crap they came up with to continue the trend if replacing every major hero with a female or minority version.

Hulk replaced by an Asian man.
Hawkeye replaced by a woman.
Captain America replaced by both black man and a woman.
It's all just a gimmick.
I don't really watch Disney+ shows b/c it just becomes to much of a time investment for me. You want me to see all movies and pay $20 a ticket okay that is one thing (but I gave up on that awhile ago) and now you want me to watch all these shows to be privy to the story? Guess I have to quit my job for all of this. Give me a break. You know what, I am glad someone came out and said it! Sometimes giving the unpopular opinion is a good thing (not 100% sure this is the unpopular opinion, but you get my point).

I haven enjoyed most of the marvel shows but what if was not that great, Loki has some logic and character problems and Ms Marvel has poor action and has been really uneven. I really enjoy The Mandalorian, Book of Bobba Fett was uneven and had a disappointing finally and Kenobi looked noticeably cheaper than the other Star Wars shows. Kenobi was pretty average to kinda bad outside of a few really great moments. Kenobi was disappointing.
I can be mistaking but for me Disney was never known for his creative innovation ( not very recent anyways ) . For me they're more know for buying creative and innovative studios and than force them to make blend shows .
I agree with you- the only show that I have found myself enjoying coming out of Disney Plus is the new Percy Jackson Series- the rest failed to entertain me

I agree , good video! In terms for Star Wars- all I’m gonna say is George Lucas should have NEVER sold it to Disney... I’m of the older generation where Star Wars was a novelty and now it’s just a cash grab that has a wile political agenda. For Marvel, after the Endgame, they had a few shows that were engaging but it’s more less the same as Star Wars, cash grab, heavy on the SFX, less focus on story but more about woke political agenda. The latest Thor movie, however entertaining but fell flat and highly forgettable..But this is my opinion..

I overall agree. Still think The Mandalorian is consistently strong. WandaVision was overall decent but it did end predictably like an MCU film which I didn't like.
I think this is the first I've heard you say anything regarding the Thor 4 trailers. Sure, they have a couple comedic things, but nothing too unlike what was used in the trailers for Thor 3. And these trailers do tease some good stuff with Bale's villain and looking forward to see Portman kick ass

Disney has been trash for quite some time now. I've come to a point where I don't even bother to watch their hook, since their content has been 100% bait-and-switch story arcs.
Early reviewers said that the new Thor movie they go too overboard with the corny jokes and it had a huge dip in CGI quality

It's the combination of terrible writing and the commoditization of IP without any plan as to what to do with it.
The only Disney plus show I really liked was falcon and winter soilder. Everything else has no stakes or consequences.
it was a good show until the final 2 episodes. Same with Wanda Vision. I think Loki was the only show consistent from beginning to end.

Adam, from the 1st trailer of Moonknight I knew he won't be in the superhero form....:) for more than 2min per episode :P. By the way, it looked to similar to Legion....the TV series.

I actually have been liking the Marvel shows more than the movies to the point where I’m skipping Thor 4. With the exception of Shang-Chi I’ve had issues with the writing. But I can see where you’re coming from.

Just saying what a lot of people are thinking. I actually really liked some of the shows. Loki, Wanda, Mando, etc. But these new ones are terrible. It's bad when the only thing good about Boba show was when Mando showed up. And Ms Marvel and Obi.... don't even get me started on those borefests.
Years ago if someone told me a obi-wan show was coming out I'd have been excited. Now days it and all the other Disney shows are just so nothing that all I can muster is a sigh.

When it comes to streaming, the majority of shows are going to be crap. I love The Mandalorian and Kenobi was decent. Even the random Star Wars and Marvel tales were kind of interesting. Surprisingly, I also liked the Mighty Ducks series. Yea, there were a lot of series that I couldn't finish or didn't even bother to start.......Moon Knight, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Wanda Vision, Loki, Bad Batch etc
Hundreds of movies follow the formula, it works. For me, it always comes down to the villian. The better the villan the better the movie/show. The best series that few people talk about is Hannibal. The quality and cinematography of most episodes was astounding.

So far, The Mandalorian, final season of The Clone Wars, and Wandavision impressed me. Falcon & The Winter Soldier needed serious rewrites and should have been a movie. Loki needed more episodes so Loki could do more and be great like he used to be. It felt like a mid-season finale and came off incomplete. Hawkeye could have been a film, but I still had a bit of fun with that one.
The Bad Batch had a solid first season, but I'm hoping Season 2 will be better. I have not seen Obi-Wan Kenobi yet, but it looks bad. I have not finished Moon Knight, but already, there isn't a lot of Moon Knight. The Book of Boba Fett had its moments, but was overall disappointing.
I'd recommend Monsters at Work. It takes a little time to get into it, but I thought it was an improvement over Monsters University.

WandaVision took the bold step and sucked in episode 4 because the "fans" kept complaining about the sitcom gimmick and plot relevant shit like Dr. Strange showing up in the show was removed for stupid reasons so that Shield can hijack the rest of the show and take the initial interest with it.

After Kenobi I have completely given up on Star Wars. This star wars franchise is beyond stupid. At this point Transformers and The Fast And Furious series are more intellectually calculated. Star Wars is the McDonald's of entertainment. I feel embarrassed after being a fan for so long. That's how dumb I thought the writing for Book of Boba and Kenobi are. Kenobi was so bad it made me look back at the entire franchise with disgust, outside of the original trilogy. I can't even stand Clone Wars any more and can't see anything but a dumb kiddy TV show. Between Maul getting cut in half and having "magic" restore his lower torso and legs (how does he go to the bathroom and eat!?) to Rebel's flying helicopter lightsabers, Star Wars is all so stupid! I recently started watching Battlestar Galactica from 2006 and it's laughable how that series is a million times better than this star wars trash. You're right. Disney simply doesn't care about quality. They know there's another consumer blinded by their idolatry of the brand that will purchase a subscription right behind you after you cancel yours.

The only actually good Disney+ originals are Loki and Mandalorian and maybe the first half of Wandavision, everything else is fine I guess? Almost every other show we've gotten in June is better than the disney crap. The boys, Peaky Blinders, Umbrella Academy, Stranger Things, Only Murders in the Building are wayyyyyy better
Even a bad show on HBO is produced 100 times better than any Disney + show. Everything from the writing, production, sets. This is the standard that Disney should be striving for.

Yeah, it’s product. It’s not like you need a huge budget to make a fantastic action show, look at Daredevil. Just ditch you D+ subscription and keep HBO, more consistency and artistic value. It even has the Studio Ghibli film for the kids. As for Thor Love and Thunder, yeah it looks oddly artificial and slapsticky.
I was glad that HBOMAX got the exclusive streaming rights to Studio Ghibli films. Disney sold the movies to GKIDS, so weirdly Diz dubs live on through HBO.
