one of these catastrophes was caused by sentient AI and killed almost all inside the facility. the other was caused by curious humans and killed half of the people inside the facility and half of the people outside the facility (roughly four billion)
Yeah. He may be one of the more recognizable single video game protagonists, but he really kinda just _fell in_ to heroism after everything had already gone sour. He wasn't actually anyone all that important beforehand.
@@Anastas1786 Except he kind of was. G-Man has seemingly pre-selected a bunch of important individuals into his (or his masters) plan, amongst which you can find Gordon, Shepard and likely others. He has a "classified" sponsor in the facility. He's CONSTANTLY watched by G-Man throughout the game (even before the cascade). And is taken away by him at the end only to end up in the train to City 17 at the start of HL2. Gordon is clearly an important person, it's just that he's important for different reasons. For Black Mesa employees, he's just one of the many PHDs there. But in overal plot of the world, he's possibly one of the most important people out there.
The most significant thing Gordon did in Half Life 1 was kill the Nihilanth. In Xen he may have been a hero and a liberator, but in Black Mesa he was just a survivor, like all of his security guard friends and scientist colleagues.
I love how you guys draw limits to what investigators can learn from official sources, historical records and the odd first-hand account. "through unknown means" indeed.
I would like to suggest the following for future videos:- 1. Holy Britannian Empire (Code Geass) 2. Cronos (Guyver) 3. The Combine (Half-Life) 4. The Cybermen/Cyberiad (Doctor Who) 5. Cylon Empire (Battlestar Galactica) 6. The Dominion (Star Trek) 7. Umbrella Corporation (Resident Evil) 8. Autobots (Transformers) 9. Decepticons (Transformers) 10. Shadaloo (Street Fighter)
Theres tons of FNV factions you can cover. Think Tank, BoS, NCR, Legion, Utah Tribes, Khans, Boomers, Vegas Families, Followers of the Apocalypse and more. The Think Tank and NCR are among the most interesting.
I feel like the Templin Institute would be strictly OPPOSE to the SCP foundation, honestly. Templin exposes the nuances of parallel worlds, the SCP foundation attempts to hold back this information :P
Half-Life seriously deserves it's own live-action Netflix series already. It wouldn't work as a standalone film, not successfully, but a prequel series with a second or third season going over the events of the first game.
Wait a minute. Half-Life 1 takes place "at the dawn of the 21st century". And Half Life 2 takes place 20 years after the original... Damn, 2020 sucks in every universe
Outside bureaucrats who know nothing about science were responsible for the downfall of a facility making incredible advancements that are lost forever. A timeless scenario cause it's so real.
That image and everything else in this video was taken from "Black Mesa" a total remaster of Half Life 1. Search for "Black Mesa Xen" and you'll find it.
One thing they should add is how you join them... Most employees of Black Mesa must be at least a graduate of Ivory League College. They should be a US Citizen and must be unmarried. Should've a Masters or a PhD in Careers related to Science or Mathematics. For Blue Shift Security Guards. Must be Unmarried Be between Ages of 21-32 Must have a GPA of 4.0 Should not have Military Experience (Waiverable)
I know there are ways to create interconnections between these realms or universes and Realities that can begin new scenarios in their mixtures IMO. Consider some inter connected ... portals xen+ etc...
Ah, the Black Mesa Incident, also known as "The 2000s Whoops"
Nah it was more then whoops it was a fuck up
it wasnt a whoops but an irreversible mistake
But didn't it happen in '98?
@3D Modeller Right, that's why I said 1998. Apparently it's uncertain what year the resonance cascade took place.
@3D Modeller Half-Life wiki lists possible years as 1998-2011 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Black Mesa:Resonance Cascade
Aperture Science: Freak Robot Homicide

Sir, the testing?
I love how you guys omitted Gordon entirely. Really puts Black Mesa into perspective.

When she said "unforseen consequences"
Me: I see what you did there.
It's a g-man in disguise! He is everywhere, manipulate all events!
I love how you guys draw limits to what investigators can learn from official sources, historical records and the odd first-hand account. "through unknown means" indeed.

“Hey, catch me later, I’ll buy you a beer.”
Can you do the SCP Foundation?
Sykazee Yes, please.
I feel like the Templin Institute would be strictly OPPOSE to the SCP foundation, honestly. Templin exposes the nuances of parallel worlds, the SCP foundation attempts to hold back this information :P
Omg such a good idea- but unfortunately they're so big it would be a massive video I think
Gratuitous Lurking is the Templin Institute a fictional institution like the things it studies? Is there a "lore" behind the "lore explorers"?
I really hope they do
If I'm in a science lab, and some suit tells me to do something that a guy in a lab coat says NOT to do, I'm trusting the lab coat over the suit.
This channel's a gold mine for interesting lore!
I love the combine lettering at the start that transforms into the Back Mesa logo
Half-Life seriously deserves it's own live-action Netflix series already. It wouldn't work as a standalone film, not successfully, but a prequel series with a second or third season going over the events of the first game.
"They're waiting for you Gordon, in the test chamber"
How about the Empire from Warhammer Fantasy? That one's rarely touched upon and, in my opinion, a lot more interesting than most fictional countries.
Sigiswulf do u think they should turn this into a movie
