    I recently got a feral kitten. It just showed up so I made sure it had food on the porch. After about a week of looking in thru the my glass screen I left the screen and door slightly open and it walked in. It stays in mostly now but still hisses at me. I just leave him alone. But last night while I was asleep, it jumped up on the bed and slept right next to me. My tuxedo cat has taken it under his wing and now where Milo goes little Silas is right behind.

      Same with me two ferral kittens siblings, I have always fed their mother but she never became really tame she would enter my house for food but always watch the open door and go out if u were between her and the door, but her 2 kittens I gradually tamed and now they are at my side all the time. But I give them the freedom to go outside whenever they want but lately in the bad weather they don't want to lol.

    My cat, a former stray, is never more than a few feet away from me. He sleeps with me every night, purrs every time I look at him or he sees me, and never wakes me up for any reason. Not even for food/water. He waits until I wake up before he quietly meows at me and looks at his dishes as if to ask for what he needs from me. He even sleeps in my spot when I get up to leave my room or just sit on my futon. He’s a sweetheart. ❤️

    My wife and I have been together for over 50yrs and have had many cats over that time. We currently have a Maine Coon male we were fortunate enough to get from the SPCA. He is a wonderful companion and smart as a whip, able to easily communicate what he wants us to do for him including what kind of catfood he wants as in wet, kibble or treat and if one of his litter boxes needs attention. Then there is the lack of mice anymore. He is a skilled hunter but all and all he is just such a special boy to us. He is such a mommas boy too and will often follow my wife around and make sure he gets groomed or pets. So precious. We feel so fortunate to have him with us.

    When my brother was born, then when i had a baby, & now with my granddaughter, I've seen cats be absolutely wonderful to babies.
    Also, when i lost a baby & was inconsolable, it was my cat who helped me get through the torturous nights. Curling up on my lap & letting me cry over her until her fur was wet & filling my arms that literally ached from wanting to hold my baby. She helped in a way no human could have.

      That’s a beautiful, if sad, story. Your cat clearly knew something was up and did its very best until you could cope.
      Something similar happened to my father when he had cancer. Then when he died, the neighbour’s cat just left, seldom to return. He just knew he was needed.

    I can corroborate all of this. I grew up without a mother and I would call my Kitty friend every night and he would come and purr me to sleep. Probably saved my sanity for later life. Words cannot describe the debt of gratitude that I owe to these little creatures. Now, I'm getting older and alone. But my little Kitty is my best friend, confidant and little buddy in this world, warding away depression loneliness and dark thoughts. Cats should be prescribed to people with all manner of illnesses and troubles, from depression to loneliness

Then around 3am I end up going into my office and sleeping SITTING UP in my big fluffy chair with my " boss" can on my lap.!! :) ( I got in that habit for health reasons-- couldn't breathe laying down.. and hard to sitting up-- !! ) LOVE my boys- 3 of them 2 are almost 6 (Thanksgiving ios their birthday-- unofficially by the vet and me).. and one is little over a year-- rescue from the back yard.. They have the run of the house-- and I do everything I can to make their lives BETTER.. I'm buidling a "cat walk" around the ceiling and climbing areas etc. soon-- getting the stuff togther now. (on SS so it takes a while to get the extra cash together).. I'm trying my best to get them use to useing wood pellet litter box instead of the clay-- for THEIR health as well as MINE (breathing issues).. but it's not going so well.

    We just had our 17 year old black domestic cat, Baron, euthenized. We spent money on him the last 6 months of his life. It was worth it, he did not suffer. Since he has been gone, my husband and I decided not to have any more pets. I am reeling in sadness. My blood pressure has sky rocketed since Barons passing. I feel like I am going out of my mind. I miss his unconditional love. I weep. I love my husband, children and grandchildren, but I am grieving the loss of a love of a cat.

But it's so heartwarming to know that your kittens provide such solace and help you relax amidst the chaos. I'm glad they've become your peaceful sanctuary and that you're sleeping better now. ❤🐾🐈

    It goes a little further than that. Purring is also a confirmed pain relief. They purr sometimes if they get hurt, because it affects them, but if you touch a purring cat, it can reduce pain sometimes. I used to use my cat as a headache reliver, and he was very effective at it. To the cat, it's almost the same as just normal snuggles, but in every case, my headaches faded much faster when I was purred on. They're pest control, stress and pain relief, and occasionally entertainment all in one place. To take it a step further, pets in general can have a minor pain relief effect. It's been proven that the chemical brain effects related to loving a pet can reduce pain using your own body, so the purring just stacks with that. Hugging a purring kitty you like is the best non-medicinal pain reliever available, with no side effects.

    They:
    * can mimic the actions of their hoomans

    * love to play
    * have feelings just like humans
    * can love/hate cuddles
    * are naturally curious
    * can be taught different things
    * get into mischief
    * can be very smart
    * can be needy/clingy
    * throw tantrums
    * want to sleep with you
    * need to be fed regularly
    * want to eat your food too
    * want/love to be the center of attention
    * can get excited to see you come home
    * can get excited when going to see Grandma/Grandpa
    * can get excited to go to the park
    * can be stubborn and not listen
    * can love/hate going to the Dr's (vet)
    * have accidents
    * need to be potty trained
    * go to daycare
    * can love/hate baths
    * wake you in the middle of the night
    * run to you when scared
