Thanks, Alan, for another enjoyable unboxing video. For big fans of “The Broadsword and the Beast,” this Rolls-Royce of boxsets has got to be the ultimate treasure trove of audio and visual delights. For all that it contains, your boxset is a good deal at the price you paid. Happy listening and reading!
Great video. The box sets that Jethro Tull puts out are like no other. Simply the best. The associated recordings from Broadsword are awesome as well. In fact, could've been another whole album. "Inverness Sleeper" and "Drive On The Young Side Of Life" are outstanding songs. Thanks again, Alan for the fantastic Tull videos.
Thanks so much for watching and enjoying them. I really appreciate it. I am of course in total agreement with you on their box set series. And I'm so happy they're reissuing them so more fans can enjoy them at great prices.
Thanks for the great video Alan! I have this set and taking the discs out was such a pain for me, I decided to put them in sleeves and just leave out of the box. Great album, one of my favorites. Amazing how many excellent songs associated with these sessions.
Yes - I watched a video on how to take the discs out...lol but your idea is great - I'll probably do the same. I'm loving it by the way. Listening to the live show now, which thankfully is a bit different than the bootleg 2cd set I already owned - so that's a great bonus. Sounds awesome. It is amazing the amount of unreleased tracks / versions and demos - loving it. Ian was really on a roll. thanks so much - I really appreciate your support and comment and watching.
Yea - it's amazing what was left off - incredible. I feel the same about the 2nd disc of Nightcap - one of my all time favorite Tull albums - how did that stuff get left off. Amazing how great they are. Thanks.
Definitely an interesting tour (with the white jump suits) and a new Tull lineup. I didn't see that tour in person, but have many live recordings - great stuff. Hope (and I'm sure you did) you really enjoyed it.
Amazing video, thanks! Definitely made me more excited for when my copy comes. Broadsword is my favourite album (alongside Passion Play) so I've been looking forward to it. The associated recordings for Broadsword are seriously amazing. DJ Dream is probably my third favourite tull song.
@@TheAlanRosenbergShow Thanks! Cant wait to hear the live versions for sure. Tull have always been one of those bands you can't miss live. I would have loved to see the Broadsword tours, with the Viking ship stages.
I wish I saw that tour too - how did I miss it back then...damn. I wish they included video, but there is video available on some of the official Tull videos out there. Also great stuff. Anyway, you're gonna love this box, especially since it's your favorite Tull album. It certainly has grown in stature for me as well. Thanks again.@@johnjoestar4366
Yea Tom - as you know, I held off, but couldn't hold off any longer. Can't wait to start listening, which I will start tomorrow. Thanks for your input previously. I always really liked this album. And I know how much you loved it too. This box really is loaded - wow. I'm thinking though that the two live discs are my bootleg - we'll see - the boot is a mixture of different German live shows and so is the box - was a Superstars In Concert back in the day. We'll see - if it's the same, will probably sound better anyway.

There was a time that Broadsword was one of my favorites of all time. Tull is totally my gateway to the world of Prog and I will forever love them. If only Ian and Martin could patch things up!
It would be nice, but you know it's never going to happen - they've gone their separate ways and I'm very happy to see that Martin has build a wonderful new successful career. I've only seen him once live, this year actually, and it was fabulous. Thanks.
Nobody does these anniversary/reissue packages better. The book format, the print quality, design, music, pictures etc, etc. I'm not a big Tull fan but have several of these just for the design/package of them.
Great that you have these even though your not a huge Tull fan. Nice to get an unbiased opinion. I totally agree - best reissue boxsets - and in general - unbelievable value for the money as compared to others too. Thanks so much.

Hiya Alan. Glad to see you got Broadsword. I must say, when you turned around and showed us the amazon shipment I thought «seriously?!?» Nah, he must’ve allready taken that thing out of a bigger envelope! As you said, it’s expensive and not exactly a brick now is it. Jeesh… I loved this record, and the amount of extras was mindblowing for the price. Wish the Stones could’ve hired those people to do their re-issues/box sets.
Amazing that's how they shipped it out - just that. Incredible, but locally it survived the shipping well. Yep - the Tull boxes are the model on how it should be done in my opinion.
Very interesting, Alan. I agree with your assessment of the album. Not up with Aqualung, Heavy Horses etc, but a really good album nevertheless. It's an album I play a lot. 40 years! Where did the time go? David Butterworth
That looks exquisite, very nice unboxing. I have a soft spot for Broadsword as I saw them on that tour in '82. I remember for Watching Me, Watching You Ian came out in a white (doctor's) coast with strobe lights, it was quite startling. I too love Pussy Willow.
Lucky you. I first got into Tull in 1977. I really loved them instantly But didn’t become a Tull fanatic Until much later. So unfortunately, I missed those classic early tours. I have serious regrets about it ever since
I love Jethro Tull but don’t own any of the special editions. But Ian does them right. They are some of the best special edition box sets I have seen anyone release.
They sure are. Everything about them is top notch - As I type this I'm listening to the Broadsword box - absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
Great buy. I brought it for £66 UK pounds when it came out. Some on eBay now go for 200-300 rip off. Like you I'm 70s are the best. This year I got Ian to sign my copy of passion play on vinyl. Ian said of broadsword it lost some American fans. Super box sets I tend not to play too much. Thanx.
Crazy price considering that its still avaiiable on Amazon for less than $60 right now. The others though that are out of print go for a ton it seems. Cool that you hang with Ian. In so many ways, just seems like a regular guy, which I love - I respect he never plays the game. But like many powerful "regular" guys, seems like can be a bit prickly at times.

Hi Alan, I think you had the same idea as me, wait to see if it drops in price, this one isn't budging so pulled the trigger last week too. The price is definitely double the cost of previous boxes, but can anybody risk misding out? In the UK it was a reasonable big seller on release, and great tour. Unfortunately Newcastle City Hall was too small a venue for the ship. It would have been great to have seen some video content of the ship, true. Please see UA-cam or Steve Hoffman Broadsword thread on how to remove the first disc. There are lots of broken plastic springs and frustrated fans out there. 😢
Yea - went down a little - I got for $58 and there right now as well. So I pulled the trigger - risk missing it out, which I've done on some other madfish boxes that never really dropped. Still waiting for a big Who's Next / Lifehouse drop but doesn't look like it's gonna happen. Thanks for the tip - definitely don't want to break those springs.
Are you talking about the 20 Years Of Jethro Tull Box. Yea - to this day one of my favorite boxsets of all time. In fact one of the few boxsets ever to finish in the top 3 of the year for me. Tremendous box and still my favorite Tull boxset
Many big fans love bootleg as an example. The official released stuff is not enough. It’s fascinating to hear what didn’t make it. And alternate takes etc. we were ahead of the curve because eventually the artists caught on and now we get box sets, bootleg series etc. and often there’s incredibly great stuff that didn’t make the cut for some reason. Springsteens tracks box is all unreleased stuff and most artists would kill for songs that good. But hey stick to just the original albums. That’s fine. I and many others enjoy more than that.
I love Tull but this is a so so Tull single album & I don't buy these endless boxsets of single albums even for the GREAT single albums because thats a cash grab for suckers to keep buying the same albums over and over and over
I respect you’re not into them. That’s fine. But cash grab nah. The still boxes especially are a bargain for what they give you. And it’s a treasure trove of music and information for fans who want to go deep and get tons of unreleased material and live music. But that’s what makes the world go round.
