    I saw Tull in Houston many years ago and I think I enjoyed it thoroughly. What I can recall of it. Now that I’m older and have time think back, I kind of feel guilty. Ian Anderson and the guys always put their heart and soul into every performance, but I just used it as an opportunity to smoke some weed and didn’t really appreciate the effort that went into every show. It’s not right that it’s just a blur!Maybe when I pass to the Great Beyond I will be able to enjoy all of the great artists with the respect due them!

    Drummer Gerry Conway (Pentangle, Cat Stevens, Richard Thompson) did a fairly short stint live in JT, but in the '80s he played on almost as much studio recordings as Doane Perry, their regular drummer. Gerry is, despite his double bass drums here, maybe not as "heavy" as Barrie or Doane, but if you listen you'll find he's very much a percussionist, with fine things thrown in here and there; I can here it in this song. He later went on to play with Dave Pegg in Fairport Convention, and still does.

    Excellent, but so missing John Evan, Barriemore, & of course John Glascock. I am still a big fan, but after Glascock passed away, the entire magic was gone. Not that Ian & Martin carried on quiet well, but that classic lineup was the heart and soul of so many great songs and concerts. The New Tull LP drops in a couple days, keep on Ian.......& Thank You for the music & memories ✌️😎☀️🇺🇸

Desde Minstrel in the gallery , apuntaba un sonido muy progresivo de rock ,ya de por sí muy original y diferente de los demás ! ☝️😃🇲🇽me suscribí ahorita ! Could someone tell me why Gerry Conway did not last in Jethro Tull? I really don't know and I've always wondered that. The only thing I can figure is that he wasn't as heavy as Barrymore Barlow, or Doane Perry who came after him. I mean he was not exactly a newbie to the music scene. He had definitely been around the block.

    1984 is generally accepted as the year Anderson's voice went south, but you can also hear it here. Compare his vocals here to the live stuff from the A tour and there is no comparison. His range is compromised and has started to develop that nasal quality that just got worse and worse. Great performance though.

    • @Cpayne30
      @Cpayne30 3 роки тому +2

      I've always noted the nasal sound here too, it's even more pronounced here than in some 1984 shows I've heard.

    • @travisjohnson7065
      @travisjohnson7065 2 роки тому

      @@rightchordleadership Well, Ian has more energy, he's a more talented and more versatile instrumentalist (in addition to the vocals) and he personifies the craziness, intensity, and whimsicality of Tull's music, a majority of which he composed. He's just more entertaining and unpredictable, always grabbing new instruments, random percussion like crash cymbals and tambourine, punching said tambourine at 1:42, apparently he used to flip his flute up in the air, and so on. But Queen had more mainstream appeal. Everyone knows about Freddie, but being more famous doesn't mean much when it comes down to it.
