      @@RecKOner21 Any copper braided wire should do the trick, even speaker wire. Something around 18-20 guage in size, I only needed about a foot.

    Great informative video... no B.S. and straight to the point. Thank You!!! I recently purchased a 2008 Yaris 2 door Hatchback, 5 speed stick shift. 75k miles on it. Fun little car to drive.
    Update... I got power directly from the gray hot wire on the back side of the cigarette lighter outlet in front of the center console. It powers off and on with the key. You will need to remove the ac/heater control panel to access it. Remove the side trim pieces first. These parts lift straight out with any screws. The control panel can be separated from the vent trim by going back in a little while holding the vent trim out. You don't need to fully remove the vent trim.
    Also removing the knee panel under the steering wheel and bottom shield makes the job easier. Their are 4 phillips screws there. Start pullind at the top of the knee panel. It will swing open... it has a hinge at the bottom with 2 phillips screws. Once removed you'll see 2 more screws for the bottom shield.
    By this time you may have noticed their are two 10mm bolts that are easier to access to use for the ground wire

    Hey dude great short vid and to the point. Imma go get me a TM and DIM. I have a 2006 Vitz 1.0 Litre 1KRFE engine. My cluster panel didn't come with RPM/TM gauge. I guess Toyota workers were busy eating sushi they forgot to install the rpm guage

    Been working on a rough idle for an 08 model and trying to "feel" the rev difference between my work (MAF cleaning, alt chaning, belt tightening, spark plug / coil replacing). The amount of times I've wanted a tach on this car. Only to find its a quick 10 min job.

    Your car must have TPMS with the orange/peach colored wire for the Tach signal. Pin #9. Cars without TPMS the wire will be a green wire. still pin #9 on the DLC connector.

      Good info thanks, yes this Yaris did have TPMS as it was an '08 and that was the first year Tire pressure monitoring was mandated in the US.

      Hi, I’m working on putting a rpm gauche in my Kia picanto from 2006. Will the green wire work for the car?

    Hi awesome video ❤
    Is there another way to wire the green wire rpm signal other then the obd2 tho that was awesome ?

    • @ChrisActivity
      @ChrisActivity  Рік тому +1

      Does your car not have obd2? I dont know where else you would tap into for the signal

      @snoopha3 Рік тому

      I see thanks 🤙
      which obd2 pin or color is for the green rpm wire signal ?

    • @ChrisActivity
      @ChrisActivity  Рік тому

      2:29 , its possible on your car for that wire to be green instead of the orange like mine, but it should still be the wire in that same pin location. A previous comment mentioned that cars without Tire pressure monitoring have a green wire in that pin, so if your yaris is from a country that doesnt require TPMS that would be why. @@snoopha3

    Did you connect the tach wire to pin 9 of the OBD2 port?

      You wont regret it! I recently sold the car but it was much more fun to drive with the Tach for me.

    Do you think it would work for a 2012 diesel toyota yaris?

    • @ChrisActivity
      @ChrisActivity  2 роки тому +1

      Should be pretty similar, The key is to make sure you have the correct tach signal wire to tap in to. I would compare the diesel's OBD harness to mine and go from there.
